DO NOT STAY HERE. Terrible customer service/hospitality and broken/mediocre amenities. Room with soaking tub: I decided to take my parents here over Thanksgiving this year. They're from Japan and they love taking baths, so i chose this place because one of their rooms had a private soaking tub on their patio. Well, they told us the temperature of the water will be around 107. IT NEVER REACHED THAT. it was 101 at best (from about 1pm-4pm) and the rest of the time The water felt cold to the touch, definitely not warm enough to actually take a bath. And when we spoke to the front desk about it, they never even said sorry or offer any solution aside from "we'll call someone to come fix it." Well after an entire day of "working on it" it never got fixed. We stayed for 2 nights and again my parents were only able to use the tub for about 4 hours. VERY DISAPPOINTED in the customer service/hospitality. An this was just one of the many incidents where we felt this way. Desert Villa: In addition to the room with the soaking tub, we also booked their Villa for me, my boyfriend, and my brother. This villa is off the property so it takes about 5 minutes to walk. Rather than walking us those 5 minutes, the front desk lady just pointed at the building and says "it'sthat one" and hands is the keys. You'd think for the amount of money we are spending they can at least walk us to the room. On top of that, there were no close instructions on how the lights/wifi worked (so many light switches that seem to do nothing so we spent a good amount of time just figuring out how to turn on the lights and such). So fine, we walk ourselves to the villa. But the DOOR DOES NOT OPEN. I guess one of the locks was jammed so the key didn't turn. We call the front desk and help and again SHE WAS VERY RUDE. She made it sound like we were bothering her that she had to come all the way this way. And when she got here, she says "if I can open this.... you guys are in trouble" as if we were stupid and couldn't open the door. She proceeds to fight the lock for the next 20 minutes or so while we just stood there in the cold. And effects she finally opens the door, there is NO "I'm sorry" or anything. She just says "whatever you do, DO NOT TOUCH the bottom lock." Well that's safe. Makes us feel great. Breakfast: There is no restaurant or even a vending machine on property. They do advertise breakfast that's included. Be aware, NO HOT FOOD ITEMS. They only have 3 different kinds of bread for toast (rye, pumpernickel, and wheat), yogurt, some fruit, cereal, instant oatmeal, boiled extremely hard eggs, orange juice, and that's it. Continental breakfast at a cheap hotel has more food/options than that. Definitely bring enough food and don't bother with their breakfast. Things that were broken: -The lock for the Villa, master bedroom bathroom for Villa (the toilet paper holder does not hold the toilet paper up so it falls to the ground every other time, and the sink was not bolted on enough), garbage disposal (the kitchen floor was wet the entire morning on the last day) -Private soaking tub (as mentioned above) -Cereal dispenser at breakfast -Infra-red sauna which we were told would heat up to the desired temperature in 5 minutes but we sat there for 30+ min and the temperature never reached And after all that, terrible and non-existent hospitality/customer service. There was never any real solution offered to help us. They just complained and made us feel like we're bothering them. For spending ~$2500 on one weekend (2 nights in room with soaking tub and the Villa plus 3 massage treatments), you would think we can get a decent hospitality. They offered to give us $20 refund per night for the broken tub ONLY after we complained and asked for a refund. Don't waste your time and money here. There are so many other hot springs accommodations around here. …
Private, Clean and Peaceful. Courteous Staff. Comfy Beds. Clean Rooms with a Nice Kitchen. Fluffy Towels! Mineral Pools are fabulous. Tesla Charger! Super Healthy Breakfast, really filling and delicious. Highly Recommend
We stayed in the Villa. When I arrived, my friend with whom I was sharing the Villa hadn’t arrived yet, and the staff member said we should wait to go across the street, so I couldn’t check in for 45 minutes but mostly waited in my car. The website doesn’t say the villa is up the street. Rather, it says it’s 150 yards away, which is vague. The villa is up the street, up the hill, and down the sidewalk. Because of the distance, we didn't want to walk to the mineral pools at night. Had we stayed on the property, or had the villa been across the street, we would have used the pools more. Pros: The bed and bedding were comfortable and clean. The shower was nice. New towels. Central air worked and was quiet enough. IKEA furnishings throughout were nice. View from the kitchen was okay (the website says "breathtaking views). You’ll need to overlook the empty lot next door with refuse and dirt mounds. The bougainvillea outside that window could stand to be clipped. Mineral water Jacuzzi was nice when the jets were working. Cons: *Not the friendliest place. The massage staff looked nice but the front desk people were kind of cold (except for DeeAnna, who was very nice). *Sauna wasn't working when I arrived. The jets of the Jacuzzi didn’t always work and we had to go get staff to get them working. *Website led me to believe there was a DVD player in the villa. There were DVDs, but no player that we could find. *Mosquitoes were nasty. Repellent didn't work. These are muscular mosquitoes...nasty little creatures. Not The Spring’s fault, yet, the nasty buggers cast a shroud. *On our last day, the low battery from an alarm woke us up before 7:00 a.m. after a rough night battling the mosquitoes. I informed the front desk of the beeping battery and no one came to fix it. I had work to complete in the morning before I left, but the beeping was so annoying I couldn’t work. When my friend checked out, she said the front desk said they were going to give us 10% off the bill due to the maddening beeping. But they didn’t. * Staying at the villa means you won’t see a housekeeper the entire time. It may be that the 150 yards is too far for them to stray or maybe the villa is too far from anyone’s mind. The Spring website is lovely and makes the viewer feel as if they are going to have a lovely, lovely time. And when you book a stay at a spa, you hope that it will be a relaxing, rejuvenating time. We won't be returning, nor will we be recommending The Spa to our friends. If I was still a freelance travel writer, this place would receive a poor review.…
Loved the quiet, beautiful, and relaxing environment. The vibe is mid-century modern and everything is very well kept and very clean. Staff are very friendly. I enjoyed the pool and hot pools very much. I had a room with a kitchen, which was well- equipped. The bed was super comfortable. The continental breakfast with fruit had a number of options including yogurt and hard boiled eggs. This is a lovely, quiet retreat rather than a party place.
Providing lodgings in the desert Southwest requires that air conditioning be robust. This is a prerequisite to offering lodgings, a basic requirement that a visitor spending over $300 for a night should expect is met. This property is not adequately air conditioned. Desert Hot Springs sees summer days in excess of 100F regularly, and our visit in October the high was 95. The AC in our room was operational but it's output was so puny we could not get comfortable overnight and had a terrible night of sleep. The hotelier has a nice little note for guests suggesting that AC be set at 77(!) and allow the body to adjust over time. How ridiculous. I'm on vacation for a few days - my body isn't going to adjust in one day. They failed to make this basic investment when they remodeled the property and a little sign and a fan over the bed isn't going to make up for it. I really felt cheated and would have expected something like this for a place charging $50 a day. If personal safety is important to you - I also want to warn potential guests that the hotel is not in a great neighborhood. There are quite a few signs in the parking lot stressing that the hotelier is not responsible for loss due to theft - almost as many signs as parking spots so I'm left with the impression guest cars are broken into frequently.…
My wife and I needed a strong dose of quiet and serenity and The Spring delivered. The surprise roses I ordered for my wife started the stay of great. We chose the Deluxe Poolside King w/Kitchen, which was great as we wanted to spend as much time at the resort as possible and save our meals for nights in Palm Springs. Everything was class, the swimming pool, mineral pool, saunas and massages were just what the doctor ordered. The staff was very friendly and courteous, and also had a chance to chat with one of the owners, a very nice guy btw. We will definitely return.
Quiet and peaceful. Beautiful surroundings. Not much to do in the town of desert hot springs. We did a day trip to idyllwild for a change of scenery. Nice little town for hiking, shopping. We also toured joshua tree national park which was beautiful. It is an all day trip for each one.
My sisters and I spent three nights at The Spring recently. We had two rooms with a perfectly equipped galley kitchen between them. We picked up groceries on the way to the resort and enjoyed the quality time together, cooking dinner and eating outside with a view of the pool and gardens. The staff is very attentive. They fixed a jiggly toilet handle efficiently and with a smile. There is always someone at the front desk ready to assist you or answer questions. None of us wanted to leave, and days after returning home I still yearn for that lovely pool and garden view. Thanks to the gracious staff who made us feel deeply welcomed.
We were there for our anniversary and were pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of chilled champagne waiting for us in the room! We stayed in Room 1 which very conveniently has its own outdoor tub that can be filled with fresh mineral water anytime. With three people for one bed, I brought a sleeping bag just in case, but the super considerate hotel staff already had an air mattress in the room without my asking. I think they really pay attention to the details and strive to give their guests a good experience. We will definitely come back when we are in town next time.
The place is as small as the pictures suggest - the only rooms are those around the pool, and you can just wander in your swimsuit to the different pools fed with natural hot water directly from your room. I am always a bit wary of cleanliness of public hot tubs, but feel totally comfortable here. The rooms are clean and updated, though not new and modern, which adds to the lovely romantic atmosphere. The spa area looks very new, both my facial and our massages were fabulous. A simple "help yourself" breakfast is provided - most people just pick up with a tray. Very good quality drinking water and bathrobes are provided. Good dining options are a short drive away, and there is ONE Tesla Destination Charger right outside - first come first serve.
