Great 2 day stay in Del Mar.. Perfect location - easy walk to the downtown and beaches but far enough away to be a little less expensive. Unfortunately the bar and restaurant were closed b/c of the pandemic. Staff was so-so - not overly pleasant or helpful but not a big deal. Beds were comfy. Love the "hangout" area to watch the sunset.. Only complaints were 1) need to cover the windows in the closet - there were blackout drapes in the bedroom but useless as light came in through the closet window. 2) A smoke alarm next door was beeping loud enough to wake me up.. Fortunately they fixed it right away the next morning but definitely disrupted my rest! 3) Didn't realize had to pay for parking - wasn't clear when I booked this..
We arrived late and the gentlemen who checked us in was great. He saw us all the way to our room which was far away from the front desk. In the AM I needed a toothbrush. I walked to front desk which was far. I wasn’t quite awake & I’d forgotten my mask. I covered my face with a T shirt. It appeared I interrupted their morning stand up meeting the older woman in her fifties or 60’s at the desk didn’t even so much as greet me with a “good morning.” She started barking about masks and through me a toothbrush. Ruined my AM. The man I presume is her GM watched the whole thing happen. She was a nasty human being. I’ve worked for both IHG & Hilton. We don’t greet guests like that & we have disposable masks available at the front door with hand sanitizer in case someone is in my predicament. It’s called hospitality. We checked out & spent the rest of the week at Hilton Torrey Pines.…
Be careful not to be a victim of crime here. Hotel is lack of security, General Manager was the only kind person there, Restaurant is good but, overall Employees were not kind and each travelers should be extremely careful about security. This hotel is located in Del Mar, but this Hotel is exposed to crime badly.
The front desk guy on duty in the morning - afternoon has zero service skills. Awful attitude, not kind, communicative or compassionate The waitress at restaurant was awesome and the food was perfect! The rooms were missing bath towels and regular coffee pods The door was damaged and hard to close
Used up a free stay to enjoy the North County area. Front desk was warm and friendly, offering complimentary drinks and reward points. Got an upgraded room (ocean view) too. Room was clean, drinks were stiff. Soaked in the view at night and in the morning. Overall we had a great experience.
