The front service staff were not formally trained as before... they didn't greet the customers and welcome Diamond members. They did not thank and hand out bottles of water until we asked them. There was no appreciation or recognition....I felt I was staying at a cheap motel with young unprofessional staff members serving guests.
It was time for us to take a small getaway in a lively hotel near the beach. Del Mar Hilton was a great place to unwind and visit many of our favorite beach restaurants. Hotel staff was very welcoming and made our stay perfect. Sitting outside on their patio enjoying the evening with a glass of wine, fireplaces and cozy seating a big plus. Very clean room and service was great. We will be going back soon!
They have a great outdoor bar/fire pits/patio space if you want to stay out late and party, but if you want to sleep, good luck. The rooms look out on this party space and it's very noisy, even with the windows closed and the air conditioner on. The rooms are new and very nice, but the rest of the hotel, while accurately depicted, doesn't look as nice in real life as the pictures.
Best location for Del Mar Racetrack, free shuttle to the track. Staff friendly and efficient. Room was comfortable and very clean, extended bathroom a plus. Since Covid, must request room make up. Requested room to be made up each day, which was completed without a second request. About time to begin some room furniture replacement. Common areas clean and comfortable. Shout out to Vincent, waiter in the bar/lounge, very efficient and engaging, a credit to the property. Prior to Covid, hotel provided free shuttle service within a 5 mile radius, to restaurants, etc. would like to see the hotel re-establish this service.
Stayed at the Hilton Hotel Del Mar by the racetrack. Nice room and great location. Close to beaches, fine dining and friendly staff. Relaxing outside patio with entertainment on weekends. Great place to kick back and recharge. Nice pool and casual dining are a plus! Great for celebrations of any kind.
This Hilton is a large property. We enjoyed having the patio off our room overlooking the courtyard/pool area. The staff are all very courteous and professional. The hotel is .8 miles door to door to the race track. We truly appreciated the complimentary shuttle service they offer. Although the room was some what updated, we saw many imperfections. Also, the room was very musty. The beds are very hard and the pillows a bit uncomfortable, but the bedding was very nice. We had lunch and take out at the Coastal Kitchen. The food was above average. Breakfast each morning was nice. On Friday/Saturday and Sunday they offer a breakfast buffet along with menu options. I expected more from the buffet, so we opted to order off the menu. The pool was extremely clean and very large. The hot tub has surface coating issues and we couldn't find a way to turn on the jets to a higher setting than it runs at all the time. Although we only gave this hotel/resort 3 stars, we would still return only if we were attending the horse races.…
The staff was Incredibly friendly and helpful. The location is great right off the 5. This hotel has always been one of my favorites while visiting San Diego. The accomodations were not up to the standards of a Hilton hotel! I arrived in the evening tired after traveling all day. First room I checked into looked relatively clean but smelled of cigarette smoke. The second room had dead bugs and footprints on comforter. The night clerk witnessed this and said they would send someone to clean it . The third room had food wrappers and not sure what the red stains were. Went back to 2nd room and slept in the other twin bed which had a stained comforter. They said they would do a VIP cleaning. Things were not dusted or food vacuumed up from previous guests. The food was good and wait staff very accommodating.…
Stayed on the ground floor on a Friday, the room had obviously not been used for a long time as it STANK of mound and damp. Easily fixed with both a blast of AC and some open windows but the room and bathroom in particular were very tired: plug in bath did not drain fast enough for the shower not to fill up the tub, grouting had been done by a child who had been practicing, in several different occasions, virtually everything was peeling and even the artwork had pieces falling off. Tried to speak to a human by phone but gave up after: 3 unanswered called, one person answered and immediately hung up and one person put me on hold for 10 mins before I gave up. have stayed here about 15 times in recent years but this was the worst by far: now looking for alternatives for my next Del Mar trip. Hilton: you should be ashamed at yourselves here. I get you’re not a Fairmont, but this was worse than a Motel 6…
Karmina and the entire staff at the Del Mar Hilton know how to make you feel like family! We have been staying here for the past 10 years, every June, and the service and staff are outstanding. Everyone is friendly and attentive, the hotel is gorgeous, lobby is warm and inviting, the outdoor patio and pool are amazing, facilities are clean and comfortable, and someone is always available to help out with whatever we need.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Del Mar. The rooms were nice and clean. The Bathroom was sanitized, so was the rest of the room. The staff was wonderful. I will return as soon as I can. It was so nice.
