New environment, relaxation, update of the facility. Glad to see new improvement of the site. The place is still kept up to date, nice crowds and professional staff. Very welcoming to guests and ultra clean .

Twelve time share units are adjoining the L'Auberge Hotel. We had a one bedroom unit that looked great at first but had lots of hidden surprises. Great bed, great view and great amenities. First there were a few maintenance issues that took three days to get fixed and then the TV went out. Then I have to mention the train that starts at 6:30 AM and continues until late at night. And no, you don't get used to it. Yes, the management worked hard to manage our issues and offered a generous credit for our maintenance issues but I actually expected a quieter week away. The hotel attached is great and so many wonderful restaurants in walking distance make it hard to not return to this place but alas, I must look elsewhere next time.

We stayed in one of the timeshare units north of the main hotel. It was tastefully decorated, but a little tired in my opinion. It has the "bones" of a first class unit, but again, it is starting to show its age and some of the replacement pieces definitely look "low cost". For example, how the very low end phone was barely mounted on the wall, the bedroom fan that rotated out of round, the closet built-in that didn't slide properly.... not big ticket items, but enough to say that the overall quality is headed in the opposite direction of the very upscale hotel portion of the resort.

All that said, the unit and the resort as a whole is located in close proximity to the railroad tracks. This means that you will witness multiple train passings during the day and even throughout the night. We stayed for 3 nights until we decided that we needed a vacation from our vacation and headed home for a good night's sleep. I think the resort has done whatever they can do to mitigate the noise, but its just a fact that when a long line to train cars passes at 2am, you are going to hear it - no doubt!!

The Hotel itself and the ground, lobby and restaurant is beautiful and very upscale. I think that experiencing the resort for an event is great, as the service and view are top notch. However, our extended stay turned into more of a battle to hang in there than a relaxing vacation.

do not stay here. I was evicted from my villa after 1 day of a 5 day stay, all paid for, by Paris, the manager, and Nick , his boss, for a higher paying customer.
dirty dishes and broken glass by the pool. tiles falling off and broken in pool and jacuzzi, frequent strong septic smell in lobby and restaurants, outdoor shower does, not work, dirty dishes left by pool all day, no restroom by pool, water and plastic cups not available all day, waiters understaffed, but doing their best.
Noisy private parties, strong chemicals in pool and jacuzzi caused foamy surface which burns skin and eyes.
Do not stay here. Paris is a dangerous, evil, abusive person and new to the hotel, coming from Hotel Del, in Coronado. Nick, his boss, is equally guilty.

“Upgraded” to condo/appt w kitchenette. Was dark/depressing. Decor was outdated. Bed too big for bedroom. Coffee and filters, but no machine. Plenty of pots, dishes, can openers. No coffee machine. Had looked forward to being pampered.

Brought my family to SoCal for a week long vacation thinking we would spend time on the beach nearby and visit Sea World and Legoland. Was expecting some quiet time a this place, but experienced the complete opposite. The place is small and overpriced, we had a 650 sq/ft one bedroom, I was told it could accommodate 4 people, it was barely enough space for 2 adults and 2 kids. For $400 per night I had higher expectations. Like the other reviewers, we had trouble with the trains which run right in front of the property. The windows and doors are thin so you hear it, especially when a freight train goes by. The trains run all day, seemed like there was one every 30-45 minutes. The last one goes by around 10:45pm and the first one in the morning can be heard at 5:30am. We didn't get any sleep and all of us were tried the whole three days we stayed at this place. By the end of it we were looking forward to leaving.

Some other things that were annoying were the front desk wanted to charge us for every little thing, there was four of us and I asked for an extra blanket and they wanted $25, for that money I can buy a new blanket. Also, there isn't room service every day so you have to clean up after yourself and keep the place tidy, hard to do when you have a 1 year old and a 5 year old.

There are other amenities, such as the restaurants, beach, and the quiet town of Del Mar, but none of these make up for the train noise and other issues with Villa L'Auberge. I will not be staying here again. Great disappointment!

Hello there, very stressful check in here at the L'Auberge Del Mar. I was dropped off after working in the SD area and checked in to the hotel around 8:45pm. They gave me a room which was down in the villas they told me. They gave me insane directions, like "go out to the left, down the hill, don't turn left because those are private villas, and then turn right after the red curb." What?? Ok so I started out, walked down a very steep dark road, with no sidewalks or signs, tried to turn right, found a group of rooms and found my room number. After trying the key many times, I heard noise in the room and knocked. A man came out and said they was his room and I better try again. Ok, so all the way up this long road, with no lights and no sidewalks, turned right and found the side door toward the lobby. "Oh yeah, we made a mistake". "here's your actual room number, sorry." While they did offer for me to wait for a bellman to come and drive me back down, I really did not want to wait anymore.

So out the side for, down to the right, down the steep road with no lights or sidewalks and finally found the room in the dark at the top of the stairs with no lights. Had my iPhone light thankfully.

Just as I walk in the room, a train barrels past the balcony, blowing the horn and whizzing by. Hmmmm. The room must have been 80 degrees with no A/C and my only hope was to open all the windows and enjoy the train running by every half hour. And even better, a bunch of drunk guys were laughing and talking all the way until the last train zoomed by with horns blaring at 10:45pm. Not a great welcome to say the least.

I would definitely recommend NOT reserving a villa. Especially not after dark. Super noisy with the train and very difficult to get to if you are not driving. Very hot in the room during the summer and the bed is in a separate room with only windows facing the street and parking lot. Although the location is very convenient and the view is nice of the ocean, its not worth the money.

Beautiful City, Lovely Well Maintained Resort, Excellent Service - walk to the Beach, walk to Town - highly recommend this location. As noted by other people - this is very close to Train tracks for the Surf Rider - several trips per day. Suggestion - BEFORE YOU GO ON VACATION CHECK A MAP FOR WHERE YOU ARE STAYING AND WHAT IS NEARBY... very helpful and will avoid disappointing trips. We will be going back and are considering a purchase of a unit there. Thank you - happy Travels to all..!!

We have been coming to Villa L'Auberge for several weeks each year when we
could choose to go anywhere. There is no better option than an ocean-view apartment tucked away from the hustle & bustle of the laid back sea side villa of Del Mar, CA coupled with access to the beautiful resort facilities of Hotel L'auberge (gorgeous pool, tennis courts, spa, business center, lobby with highly attentive staff) makes this the ultimate vacation destination. Just down the road from Torrey Pines State Park and the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Highly recommend this facility.

The location is the very best. You are just steps from both the beach and high end shopping. It is across the street from a complex of stores, bars and fine dining. You can also walk a short distance to the iconic Bully's steakhouse and bar, which I recommend. This is within walking distance of the Del Mar Race Track too. Please be aware that the Amtrak runs through town, and you will most certainly hear it until it stops at a given hour at night. Call the hotel for details on the train. You can even take the train to this spot, which is lot's of fun.
