Lovely resort and rooms. The interiors are beautiful including the bars, event spaces, and the room. The location is high about be the marina/ beach but walkable to those areas via stairs or steep hill. Walking distance to Doheny beach and the harbor as long as you can get back via uphill staircase. Pool was nice with wonderfully attentive pool bar service - wonderful service from Francesca and Gia. Seriously, these girls were so sweet, smiling all the time, and made this experience feel like we were really taken care of. A lovely time in O/C that made me realize how lucky anyone who lives here is! Such a beautiful place. Thank you!

Came here for the first time with our 18m baby and she had a blast! The resort is beautiful with great view and we especially love the kids pool. The whole resort is very kids friendly and there’s plenty of space for her to walk around and explore. The front desk made us feel very welcomed upon arrival and they offered free bottles of water. You can actually request more during the stay if you need to. The room is clean and spacious. Our room is next to the kids pool on the first floor which is convenient. There’s an activity room for the kids to do some drawing and watch tv on the first floor next to the pool. The kids pool is under 2 feet and our baby had such a great time there. I loved that she can stay in the water without a floatie. This is her first time in the pool and she absolutely loves it. There’s plenty of beach towel at the entry of the pool and you can order some snacks and drink by the pool as well. The only recommendation I will add is the menu selection. The whole resort has very limited food selection. Even the in room dining, the menu is about the same as the poolside menu. That’s very unfortunately since it’s very convenient to dine in the room with a baby. The breakfast buffet is great with plenty of selection and not to mention the great view! Buffet price is $39 per person. There’s hot food, cold plates, egg/waffle station, pastry and large selections of fruit. Overall we had a wonderful time with the family and will definitely be back in the future.

Was our first visit back in over 4 years. Resort is gorgeous and feels crisp and clean. We had an ocean front room with a view of harbor and one of the two large pools. The decor is modern and very appealing. The room was very clean with an Extremely comfortable bed and luxurious linens. Shower and bathroom was large and great amenities. The gym is great too. Large with a big variety of cardio and weight machines and free weights. Had a great workout both days. We ate and drank at the view lounge off the lobby and food, drinks and services were great ! Such a relaxing setting. All staff were awesome. So friendly and welcoming. From Susan and Jacky at the Front Desk to the bell and valet team. Erica, Jeannie and Winona in sales/catering department are awesome and true professionals. Thank you for an awesome stay. We will be back for sure !!

Here for a conference. We have been very impressed with the front desk staff (Ava and Zack)- consistently friendly, knowledgeable and helpful! Housekeeping staff is great as well ( they replaced our towels daily without requests from us, and the room was always cleaned thoroughly). Comfortable bed, nice pool. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Had a great check in experience with Ava. She was kind enough to Give us breakfast after a long valet line that took us awhile to get in. Great example of customer service - her managers should give her a little praise :)

The hotel is in a beautiful location, on top of a cliff looking overlooking the ocean. But it’s quite a walk to the beach. If you have little kids it’s not doable. There’s no shuttle going anywhere and you need to drive. Valet parking is expensive at around $60 a day. The valet people are super nice, though. Breakfast buffet is at ~$40 per person. Rooms are small which is my major complaint. Balcony is also small. As Marriott gold, you basically get nothing. No breakfast credits, no upgrades and result fee is not waved even if you book with points. You can borrow bikes and boogie boards, but no other beach gears available. The grounds are nice but kinda small. You can walk to the park nearby. Some doors are due for a checkup. They don’t respond to your room keys. Because of that, if you walk out of the resort, it’s likely you won’t be able yo get back in through the same door and you need to take a detour. The pool is okay. There’s a small kids play area which is fun. I would give it 3.5 stars. For the price, we probably wouldn’t return.

Large beautiful resort high on a bluff with wonderful sweeping views of ocean and city lights from all around the perfectly manicured property. Every staff member we encountered were friendly and welcoming. Our “studio style” room on the second floor was very spacious and spotless with a small balcony overlooking the arrival/valet area so no ocean view for us; still very nice! Our bathroom was huge with a NON-slip shower, decent water pressure, duel sinks and plenty of counter and storage space. Bed was dreamy with quality pillows. Bed and bath linens were top notch and the NON-communal bath products (yay!) were nice and plentiful. In-room wifi was spotty. Housekeeping was friendly and spot on. The overall décor is modern and subtle with a beachy vibe. We had an empty mini-fridge to store drinks and snacks as well as an in-room coffee maker. We received complimentary bottles of Fiji water and they offer purified water stations to refill your bottles. A/C was a beast and kept our room nice and chilly. There were ZERO signs of wear and tear as others have mentioned. Our room looked and felt brand new; nothing scratched, torn or stained. This is a large formal type resort that attracts many corporate and wedding events. Its definitely a beautiful spot for a wedding… There are two pools with sweeping green-space, park and ocean views, plenty of comfortable loungers and umbrellas. The larger of the two had great kid friendly spaces; splash pads, table and lawn games. We just wish they would designate the other pool as “adults only” as it would have been nice to enjoy a “quiet pool environment” for us adults traveling without kids looking for some peace. Cocktails at the pools are $17. Yikes! Frankly, on-site dining options are very limited and expensive although the views from the restaurants are EPIC and our bartender (Kevin) was excellent. Our dining experience was good not great. If you want drinks and snacks for your room you need to bring them with you. They don’t have vending for soda’s and such anywhere on the property. Off-site restaurants and markets are NOT walking-convenient and parking can be tricky. Due to it’s proximity high on a bluff, the resort is a bit isolated. It’s a pretty steep walk to the bottom of the hill and of course you have to come back up the hill. The other choice would be dozens of stairs. People with mobility issues may have difficulties with this aspect. Doneny Beach is down the hill and across the highway. It’s a beautiful beach with clean sand, clear blue water, bathroom facilities, lifeguards, benches, tables and plenty of room to spread out and enjoy. It’s a cool spot! Lots of surfers. I think you can rent or borrow surf and paddle boards from the lobby. There is no easy public or self parking; valet only. Valet is $50 per day and the dreaded “Resort Fee” is $30 per day which on top of the high price point seems a bit excessive IMHO. You can try to score parking on the hill but good luck with that. Totally limited and NOT convenient. We enjoyed the FREE Dana Point Trolley that you can catch at the bottom of the hill (Blue/North N7) There are two routes; we liked the Red/South route the best as it stays along the beautiful beaches. We rode the Blue/North route around the loop then transferred to the Red/South route. Also enjoyed fresh, reasonably priced breakfast and/or lunch down the hill and around the corner at Stacks Pancake House. We enjoyed our stay here. It’s beautiful. Just wish it were more “walkable”. Enjoy!

Very disappointed , you would have thought by the pictures and that it was called a resort and spa it would be nice , the front desk personal were very nice , the lobby felt like it would be luxurious resort … but it ended there.. The lobby ladies bathroom had a missing/broken door knob inside the stall which made it hard to get out , used paper towels on floor , hallways had a strange smell , breakfast items were bit covered and had flies in them , the room was small , our bathroom had visible signs of mole , I vent , and the shower when in use … soaked water all over the floor … it did not feel like a high end place at all .. I should have taken pictures

The Laguna Cliffs Marriott photos on all travel sites are not accurate. The swmming pools are older than the hills and very unkept and look dirty. The room was musty. I would like a refund. I didn't think Marriott would try to get away with such low, cheap, substandard facilities in such a pretty area of Dana Point. K. Steinhart

The hotel amenities are very nice the staff is super friendly the restaurant is good the view and location is beautiful, but it’s an old hotel, you can hear everything from the room the corridor, absolutely 0 isolation. Our bathtub had some hair from previous guest which was very gross.
