It was probably a beautiful property once upon a time, but now it's *literally* falling apart. The structural decay is matched with stained and cracked furniture and carpet that's absorbed so much ocean air that it feels soggy beneath your feet. And the bed was so bad that it'll take a week to recover. On the bright side, other than the front desk staff who did the usual (though not for the Ritz) deception around when the room would be ready, the staff was warm and welcoming and attentive. Special thanks to the kitchen for accommodating my dietary restriction.
Been coming here the last handful of years and feels like a second home, would always recommend springing for the club level because that’s what differentiates this resort. All the folks up there are wonderful and truly make you feel special!!
Came here for three nights for work, very beautiful setting. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Food was fairly priced for hotel food, especially the patio bar. The room service menu was lacking so consider eating out. Plenty of food choices within a short uber ride or walk. Roomwise, pay extra for a bottom floor room with a fire place. Comes with a water view and Smores in the room, nice touch. Pricewise, we paid roughly $1,600 per night which is high, but was worth it. Parking was a bit crazy at $70 a night. Rooms come with Nespresso coffee pod machines and water bottles every day. Beach is at the bottom of the hill. One issue is, the tram stops running at 7 pm which means before sunset. If you go to sunset, you will be walking back up. Internet was solid, was lacking a good tv chair space but did have a nice work space.…
Beautiful beautiful property! One cannot deny this and it’s great location perched above the cliffs of salt creek beach. BREATHTAKING Starting with positives: Check in process was a breeze! Jessica Miller at the front desk was THE BEST! She treated me so kind and gave me a fantastic room that met my needs exactly with the perfect location near everything I wanted to enjoy at the hotel. 5 star service and kindness! The room was fab! It even came with a firepit and free smores which was a great bonus feature!! Soo cool!! All meals, all restaurants and bars had great service and friendly kind staff that met your needs. Even when the rooftop crew got a little overwhelmed due to the large groups, they were sure to check in often and didn’t neglect us which was nice. Anyone working around the property would help you with anything even if it wasn’t their job - or find someone who could. Thats great to see staff not putting their hands up when you have a question and either walkie talkie-ing or going to seek answers for you. I even asked where the restroom was and the guy walked me b/c he said it was a bit tricky of instructions. Sooo nice! A couple of areas of opportunity in having visited many Ritz Carltons in my life including the few Ritz Reserves around the world. Not terrible -Just a couple of misses in service that I don’t think would be bad to add: Hours of operation for things: Pool is 24h but pool bar and poolside service 11:30 to 4:30? Why? This is such a miss as many people are at the pool earlier and later. We want to get serviced and with a wider window of time. As long as the sun is out, the fun should be out! Lol. Shuttle to the beach only picks up from 1 spot in the hotel. You end up walking forever just to get to/from the shuttle. It also stops at 7pm when sunset is 720/730 forcing many people to pack up early or hike up the steep cliff after being burnt out at the beach all day. Not very good options. Speaking of beach - Could also use beachside service. Even if not a full bar, maybe like a hut that serves beer and wine and light snacks would be nice. The beach is so far from the property, in terms of a major hike with the cliffs - food & drink is such a struggle if you choose to spend a day at the beach. 24 hour room service is not offered either. Shuts off at midnight. In fact, by 10pm (930 really) there is no place to get food anywhere on the property until 6am juice bar. What a bummer. It’s the Ritz. We are spending $1k a night for round the clock luxury. Overnight parking $70 is obnoxious. Incorporate it in the resort fee or room rate. Overall very nice stay with a few service touches, all really due to hours of operation and accessibility to things which I think are preventing this from being true 5 star. Everything else - well done!…
This is the worst Ritz Carlton I have ever stayed. This year I have stayed in 9 Ritz Brand property already, but this one is definitely not a Ritz standard. And that made me to leave my review here in TripAdvisor. As an ambassador status, I have to negotiated several times to get the ocean view room. Yes, I have booked the garden view, but they even refused to do the complimentary upgrade to the coastal view, which they declared that is the best complimentary upgrade they could do for ambassadors. And they said if you want to upgrade to the ocean view, it would be an additional $300. After checked into the Garden view room, I was disappointed about this. Came back to the front desk, they now offered me the coastal view room. Honestly, I was satisfied before I saw the view. It was minimal. I had to squeeze on the one side of the balcony to see the coast line. Coming down with frustration, I expressed my wish to speak to the manager. They deterred me at the front desk and reiterated that to have an ocean view would cost $300. I had to pull up the Marriott program benefit, and let they confirm what I had understood that for AMBASSADORS here at ritz carlton laguna niguel you could ONLY get COMPLIMENTARY upgrade to coastal view. While this time, they said Nono, and went back to speak to the manager, and give a complimentary upgrade to the ocean view. Besides this, they never explained to me the resort amenities and my elite benefits when I checked in. For late checkout, that is another three rounds of negotiations. When I checked out, I called for bellman. I called 15minutes on phone, never answered. I sent message on app, replied after roughly 2hours. I could not believe that this property is owned and managed by Marriott. Their such COMMON services are the ones I had never experienced in any Ritz property that I had ever stayed with. Apart from services, I also do not recommend to stay here: a lot of people walking around. Definitely Not in a vibe for vacation, only remind me business. Having a dinner at Raya and enjoy the beautiful sunset is truly blessing enough.…
I stayed for three nights in between leaving one job and starting another. The people were amazing. The service was out standing. It was everything that I hoped it would be. I love the spa, the beach butlers and the concierge on the club floor. Thank you so much.
Such a fabulous trip. The resort is in an incredible location. The service was excellent. In particular, Tall Taylor in Raya was great. I was dining alone and he made me feel very welcome, which I appreciated. I look forward to my next visit!
Not sure a work conference could feel like a holiday, but the oceanfront-setting of the Ritz Laguna-Niguel certainly helped bring relaxation and calm to some busy days. Beautiful views over-looking the ocean - loved drinking coffee, watching the surfers, and listening to the waves each morning. Great running trails right at your doorstep. Conference facilities and catering were also perfect for what our team needed. Thank you for a lovely stay!
An exceptional experience all around. The service across the entire resort exceeded our expectations. Special thanks to Blake, Derick, the beach valets and club staff who helped to make our first beach vacation with our toddler so special.
A beautiful property! The views were absolutely spectacular (prepare yourself for stunning sunsets!). Rooms are large and bright - I was lucky to get an ocean view room with a little balcony. The service was top notch. Can’t wait to return!
