Excellent, attentive staff who are rightly very proud of their hotel. The hotel is located right on the water. The room had a very private balcony with stunning views. I could hear the peaceful waves every night when falling asleep. The rooms are beautiful with new furnishings. Plenty of room with the biggest shower I have ever seen in Iceland. The room was spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable. The Puffin colony is a five to ten minute drive away. It has the best viewing of Puffins in Iceland in my opinion. The restaurant on site is excellent. Excellent food and excellent service. The dining room is big and you can also eat outside. Very convenient parking right by your room. I would definitely stay here again! A very special experience.
We loved everything here. The room, the view, the food, the alcohol from the brewery, the spa, the service... Bakkagerđi is such a lovely place with the puffins and the Borgarfjördur. Definitely worth a visit
We rent the Deluxe Appartement #115 which was nicely decorated and very spacious. There is a little terrasse with no view but still pleasant. The restaurant is nice and the breakfast offers plenty of choices including homemade cakes and breads. The only negative comment is about the coffee: no choice but American coffee in a thermos. A special comment about the view on the fjord from the bath (they call it a spa)
The attitude of the staff at check-in completely unacceptable, almost rude. Late and poor respond to complaints regarding the lack of soap and shampoo in the rooms. The attitude and reaction of the owner of the hotel after the electricity went out and caused damage to electrical appliances and a small fire and smoke was, to say the least, special! Restaurant service acceptable. Price and quality of dinner not acceptable. For example, soup served with stale bread and only two small slices. Breakfast rather unexciting and small selection. Do not serve hot dishes other than porridge. Compliment to the home-made jam. The so-called Spa is special. No towels, hot tub, and steam bath cold! Outdoor hot tub that is advertised do not exist! The room on offer was under construction and was obviously not ready for rent. In fact, it is a construction site with associated noise and disturbance. Bad paint or varnish smell in the rooms, so bad that one of the groups felt nauseous and had headaches after the first night. Access to the room is from a terrace, gap between the terrace and the gravel parking space is dangerous. No rail at the end of the terrace, risk of falling. Balcony door not with doorknob or lock nonetheless easy to open. Missing railing on the balcony, life-threatening fall risk. Disruption of electricity that knocked out repeatedly. In the end, there was a small fire in the refrigerator in the room as well as smoke coming from several electrical outlets. Chargers that were connected were destroyed. In one room, the outlets had not been completed. It is uncertain whether smoke detectors worked properly. No soap or shampoo in the bathroom. No internet connection in rooms even though it is advertised. The stay ended with the group that had booked accommodation for two nights, leaving the hotel after one night, very dissatisfied as little was done to reduce the guests' dissatisfaction or compensate for the inconvenience. Accommodation for both nights was refunded upon request. …
This place is one of the most remote in Iceland and also one of the most beautiful - Blábjörg Resort fits perfectly in this place with is facilities and spa and its personal service. Excellent experience.
We stayed at Blabjorg in order to see the Puffin colony. However, we were really impressed with the accomodations - we got an apartment that had a full-sized bed (for 2 people) and a pull out couch in the living room (could be for 2 people). There was also a nicely equipped kitchen, the bathroom was large and had a good amount of shelf space. Also, there is a deck with a nice view of the harbor and surrounding area. Breakfast was excellent. Parking was tight but they are undergoing what looks like major renovations. There are fuel pumps there to purchase fuel, which was a life saver...but we did need the help of the hotel in order to pay. The Puffin are less than 10 minutes away. We did not take advantage of any of the other facilities (spa?).
We visited the hotel for 1 night during our Iceland roundtrip. Even tough a part of the hotel was under construction we really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very clean and also the shared bathrooms were clean at all times. The restaurant has a nice ambience for the place and served good food. The breakfast buffet was also rich including Icelandic bread.
Great hotel for visiting Borgarfjarðarhöfn puffin colony. Additional rooms under construction but should be finished soon. Room was modern and well set out with private balcony overlooking the bay. The gin from the neighbouring distillery is worth a try.
The sleeping sofa was horrible. There were construction going on and they told us to late to change bookings. The bedroom had holes in the walls and some kind of splatter spots up the wall. There was constructions going on and workers wearing dirty work clothes all over the place, even behind the bar touching things. We couldn't use the spa or parking because of the construction. It was hard to order because the staff was to busy with the construction workers. The breakfast was really disappointing for a "resort". The bed was comfortable and they had toys for the kids. There was a washing machine in the room and an amazing view from the room. The food at the restaurant was really good.
Really glad we made it to Blabjorg for puffins: incredible sighting. The hotel is wonderful: simple, stylish, spotlessly clean, has its own brewery and an outstanding, very reasonably priced restaurant (much better than Fosshotels). You can get laundry done and relax in a mini spa/sauna. Big building project underway for more rooms and new spa area. We stayed in shared bathroom part of the hotel, and that was perfectly ok too. Great breakfast included.
