Our moto tour of Iceland was about getting to see a little of everything.... not just what was close to Ring Road. It looked on the map like the road to Blabjorg Guesthouse was interesting and even challenging for moto riders. Perfect I said! A beautiful ride getting there with views off the NE coastline of Iceland so unusual for us Yanks. Once there we found an excellent host awaiting us.... so a soak in the Hot Tub was just right as dinner hour approached. Other guests were from Iceland.... not just common tourists. Dinner included (for the adventurous) Hakart.. or 'rotten shark'. Very Tasty... and another adventure box ticked off. Staff and accommodations were excellent, friendly, helpful etc... One day I would like to return to do more exploring.. and stay more than one night.…
Arriving in darkness and having spent the last week camping in wet, sub-zero conditions, this was real luxury. For our own privacy and for the privacy of the large party of 10, we were very generously upgraded to avoid too much stepping on each others toes. Our seafront room was spacious, airy, well furnished, with a well equipped kitchen and stunning view across the water, the hot tubs a mere 10 steps away (we were messaged to let us know the spa was empty and then brought drinks outside!). Small and greatly appreciated touches. Hiiiighly recommend this place. The breakfast was also banging. Get involved in the orange and carrot marmalade if it's on offer. Aaaand there is some brilliant hiking in the area. That's what brought us to the area and in the autumn, with all the colours, it was breathtaking. Go!…
Excellent stay. Rooms very spacious & comfortable. Shared bathrooms. Clean towels on request (needed if using spa). Spa area very much appreciated. Staff very efficient & friendly. Restaurant offers a wide choice of items.
Very nice and modern place! The Guesthouse is located directly at the sea. We had a small but very nice room with sea view. The room and the shared bathrooms were very clean. There is also a big shared kitchen (we didn't use it), but it looked good staffed and also very clean. Very nice spa area with two awesome hot tubs outside. The staff is very friendly, attentive and helpful. Best Guesthouse we had during our trip! The gravel road to the fjord is easy to do with a 2wd (they are working on the road) and the views from the pass are stunning! There are a lot of hikes you can do in this area.
We spent two nights in Blábjörg Guesthouse and enjoyed it very much. Awesome location directly at the beach, with view on the colorful mountains of Borgarfjörður eystri (if weather permits...). Of course the hot pots are a plus, too. Good breakfast buffet and dinner in the restaurant - can recommend the Plokkfiskur and the græn pizza. Friendly staff. Would definitely come back.
