This hotel is awful, do not book this hotel, especially for families. We booked this hotel for 4 nights for a baseball tournament. We decided last minute to leave a night early, so I booked an extra night on a separate reservation. We pulled in at 1:30 in the morning, the security guard on an ATV had all entrances blocked and wouldn't let us pull in until we explained that we were checking in for the first time. I went into lobby, and no one was to be found. I waited over 30 mins for the front desk employee to come back. In those 30 mins, I witnessed 3 other guests roaming the property for no apparent reason. One woman came down half-dressed to dig through the ashtrays on the garbage can and smoke the cigarettes left behind. When the employee came back, he reeked of Marijuana. We finally got to our room about 2:15AM and tried to fall asleep. Unfortunately, the person above us paced from about 2:45-7:00AM and we could hear the sliding door to the balcony open and shut every 10 mins. The next morning, we left rather early to run some errands, but when we came back to the hotel around 3:00pm and parked on the side of the hotel where our room was, we noticed a man passed out on one of the balconies. These are not normal balconies; they are Juliet Balconies...so no physical room to sit. This man had wedged himself between the door and the railing and was not moving. We also noticed other random rooms that had house plants on the balconies. We decided to take the kids to the pool, upon walking the halls, we noticed strange men walking through the property and meeting in the corners of the halls. After about 15 mins in the pool, we noticed a woman in a room on the bottom floor next to the pool gate, walk out, escort a man back to her room, escort him out about 30 mins later and then bring back a second man for 30 mins, and then escort him out. It was very clear that she was a prostitute. We started to get more and more uneasy. It became evident that many of the people at the pool lived at the hotel full time. We then watched what looked like homeless men circle the pool and look in the windows of the hotel rooms. We decided to get out and go report our concerns to the lobby. There was not a manager working at the time, so we asked the front desk to call the manager. They refused but sent an email detailing our concerns. We asked for a refund of the 4-might reservation because we wanted to leave. Our kids did not feel comfortable and were scared and quite frankly, the illegal activities taking place at this hotel made my husband and I uncomfortable. They refused to refund and refused to let us speak to a manager. Still to this day, I have received no phone call and it has been two weeks. Davis the sales manager was completely rude, condescending, called us liars and was very patronizing. This place is the absolute worst. When we moved hotels, the front desk of our new hotel confirmed that the Vanllee receives government money to house people. Which is fine, but you can't expect families with young kids to want to stay there and you can't turn your head while drug use and prostitution are taking place within the hotel. As far as the condition of the hotel, it was old, needs lots of cosmetic repairs. The grounds were dirty, cigarette piles on the ground everywhere. The lobby needs some upkeep. Our room wasn't terrible, but the bathtub was very old and it appeared they just added cocking around it to hide imperfections. The furniture was very cheap, and we were missing a chair in the living room that was shown in all the pictures.…
We normally stay at another hotel when we visit LA county fair but they were booked so we picked this. The outside of the hotel is nice & in nice area. The lobby is nice looking. When we got to the room--it is a very sized room. Looks like they have updated some of the furniture & cabinets in the room-which are nice. The bed was horrible it had dips in it & definitely needs replacing. The whole bathroom - other than the toilet needs to be replaced. It looked like they had painted over the tiles & those were peeling. The counter in the bathroom needs replacing along with the flooring. The staff was friendly.
I was bitten up really bad the first night of my stay. When I woke up the next morning and discovered the bites I began to strip the bed down to find the mattress pad filthy dirty and it had crumbs all over it and when I removed that the bed was covered in urine spots. Because of COVID you would think that most hotels are going above and beyond for their guest but this place is definitely an exception. Really wish I didn’t pay to get bitten up ruined my entire stay because my legs are swollen and itch really bad. Be cautious when booking and check your beds.
The staff at Vanllee is amazing. So kind, thoughtful, and helpful. Angelina, Manning, and Fernando were the best! The pool was fantastic and the kids loved staying there. I would definitely come back!
The Vanllee Hotel is great for big family gatherings and loud festive celebrations which is unfortunately NOT what I was there for. The beautiful resort with the inviting gardens and the large pool is perfect for a festive Friday and Saturday evening with loud aggressive urban music and potent drinks by the pool. The crowd was a mix of local Angelenos and out-of-towners looking for a respite from the heat by being poolside to enjoy copious quantities of alcohol on a hot summer night. I was initially attracted to the property by the beautiful tropical garden, large suites and value proposition but I think I chose unwisely. The check-in staff was fast, efficient and masked. From all appearances, appropriate caution due to COVID was exercised from first entry to room access instructions. The tri-level foyer with oversized chandelier is absolutely magnificent and worth the visit. The property itself is beautifully maintained and the room was, as advertised, spacious and clean. There is plenty of space to spread about in the large room with a separate sitting area (with television) from the bedroom (with another television.) There are more than enough power outlets and the Wi-Fi is fast. The bathroom is clean and bright if not a bit snug but ample and complete with enough towels and supplies. The bed was comfortable and a little on the soft/plush side and the bedside lamps and outlets were welcome. The air-conditioning system worked quickly and efficiently. The one minor fault about the room was the unavailable regular coffee packet for the second night. Note that the room is not cleaned daily due to COVID and there is no breakfast service. Altogether, I would not book the room again as I realize that this is a large property with many rooms to let. I was expecting a quiet weekend with a garden view and yes I DID request for a quiet room due to my hectic morning schedule. We were there for two-nights in a King Suite and had the guests above stomping about from early morning to late night and a next door unit Friday night party for young people (which is totally fine, I just wasn’t ready for it.) The weekday experience is probably much different. I absolutely take fault in choosing this property and I should have chosen hotels carefully for a more refined experience. I would probably not stay again despite the amazing rooms. The large property lends itself to large crowds. Separately, we went to Hamilton’s for dinner both nights (two of us the first night, a crowd of six the next evening) and had wonderful dinners. It’s a limited menu but the restaurant food and the staff are superb.…
I was expecting a boutique hotel. This was More like a motel 6 and one that needs a good scrubbing. Bed was comfortable, but bathroom plumbing was separated from wall. Furnace so loud I thought it was falling from the ceiling. Drip, drip noise all night and creaky doors kept us awake. The breakfast was nothing special. Sign on the pool gate about not entering with active diarrhea really killed the one beautiful aspect of the property. Next time I’ll stick with the known brand properties in Covina.
This is the 2nd time I've stayed at this hotel and it's been a wonderful experience both times the staff could not be more helpful the rooms are very nice. Plenty of parking the Courtyard and pool area is absolutely beautiful. Will stay here again and again
The room is spacious, bigger than I expected and the bed was super comfortable. I had the best sleep in this hotel in my 2 weeks of travel with my family. The best part of this place is the staff members. They are very friendly and helpful.
1 of my FAVORITES. Great staff. Gift shop. Discount from Hamilton's (with stay). Atm inside. Free Breakfast. Pool. Great rooms. Close to Eastland center restaurants and stores Dennys, 711 . Ikea. We had a wonderful time
I've been lucky to travel to a lot of places and hotel experiences are always a mixed back because there are so many things to consider - price, location, amenities, service, etc. When we found ourselves in Covina for a class reunion, we needed to find a hotel that could accommodate a large party at a reasonable price and so we took a chance on setting up a pool party at the Vanllee Hotel & Suites. First, this is not what would be generally considered a "higher-tier" brand (such as Marriott, Hyatt, Westin, etc.), but it was a fantastic value and the service was very friendly. The front desk team helped us secure a group rate and then assisted with coordinating our pre-reunion pool party. The rooms were comfortable and recently remodeled and overall the grounds were well kept. The catering from the on-site restaurant (Hamilton's) was well done. Even when the noise levels got a little loud later in the evening, the security was cooperative and worked to help us find a suitable location to take the gathering so other guests would not be disturbed while not breaking up a gathering of friends who hadn't seen each other in a very long time. Overall, we had a very good experience and this is a location worth considering when in the Covina area.…
