So I paid full price for a hotel that I made the wrong assumption would be Marriott brand, standards and services. I had literally at least 5 other choices of hotels situated next to each other same price range. I checked into a hotel that basically had no services available. I wasn’t told in advance but when I’m here I was informed and not by the agent rather by a flyer on the table that I had to read to know. No communication what so ever that they have no services such as restaurants, in room dining, they have removed their coffee machine from rooms, no housekeeping services every 4 days, NOTHING!!!! But they will still charge you $27 daily parking that you have to park yourself, $13 daily WiFi that should be free as is everywhere else, $160 a night room. Oh and yes upon entering my room, no soap in bathroom and had to wait over 30 minutes for it and still did not receive it so I had to go down to the lobby to retrieve them. I came into a 2 bed suite to find the room extremely small and inadequate bed choices upon what my room description had been. I paid for 2 full beds to find one full and one single. I paid for city views to find a view of back of building and claustrophobic settings. The huge stains in the carpet and in sofa were extremely disturbing then there’s broken glass in the hallway by the hotel staff room. When I complained to general manager, Hector Santa Cruz, he was not emphatic instead arrogant and was making me feel guilty for not understanding their understaffed situation and Covid times. Ummmm.......I’m sorry but I’m a paying customer and your charges are pretty hefty and half the amenities and all services are seized and you expect me to understand your situation and there’s no remedy for mine. No!!!!! It doesn’t work this way and you are a horrible manager and shame on Marriott or any hotel to make a guest go through this type of disturbing experience and make them feel insignificant. Close your doors completely if you can not accommodate your guests to normal standards and save them the grief of such experience. I will be disputing all charges because frankly I got nothing except aggravation from this trip. I will never return to this property again nor will I ever recommend another Marriott property to anyone. People save yourself the aggravation because you can stay at another property that knows the standards of hospitality.

Having the hotel situated next to several other hotels in the same price range, I made the huge mistake of choosing this one for my tranquility get away during Covid times. I can tell you that nothing in this property signifies a hotel experience. Website will say you’re getting certain things only to find out at the property that you are in fact not. I booked a 2 full bed suite with city views. The room is smaller than a regular room. The room carpet had major stains, no soap was anywhere in the room during these crazy times and when I called to request it, after waiting patiently 30 minutes I still had to go downstairs to the lobby to get some. There was no coffee machine as mentioned and all restaurants including room service was no longer available. I now had to walk up the street just to grab my morning coffee. I’m being charged a significant amount of money that doesn’t reflect any of these not available items, including a $27 parking fee, a $13 internet fee daily (who charges anymore for this?), and to have the front desk looking like ghost town and Erie. I walked by the hotel staff room on my floor to find broken glass outside (real nice). When I spoke with general manager, Hector Santiago he had nothing but excuses for me and not sympathetic that I’m trying to relax and I’ve paid for services that I’m not receiving. Instead of him trying to calm me and make my stay better, he’s frustrating me and causing me more anxiety. Who does that? I don’t need to hear that you are understaffed, I don’t care because I still paid the regular fee when I could have frankly stayed in a much better facility which was cleaner and more accommodating. I cannot stand arrogant managers that are full of excuses and make the guest suffer for their short comings. How is it my fault that you are too cheap to hire more staff? Even more disturbing that you don’t even have the compassion to relate to my concerns and are feeding me excuses and making me feel as if I’m the bad person and should understand. No Hector, I should t understand because I’m a paying customer that expects to get what I paid for based on the hotel description. Not to show up at the hotel and have half my amenities and all hotel services seized and still expect me to pay full price and have me understand that I had to wait longer than 30 minutes for soap that should have already been in the room. This is outrageous and I will never stay here ever again if it its free. Worst guest experience ever!!! Shame on Marriott for even having this manager represent them!!! I’m not done here because I will use every outlet I can to make sure guests know about this experience.

We hadn’t been to the Costa Mesa Marriott in a few years. It had been looking a bit tired. We had stayed there a dozen or more times when family lived nearby. But a special dinner nearby brought us back. Recent renovations to the rooms and the common areas are wonderful. (We were told it’s about 90% complete and ongoing work was not bothersome). The work done has made the hotel a bit more “resort-like”. Breakfast buffet was standard. Staff we encountered were all very pleasant and Chris at the front desk was particularly helpful ...thank you. We will be back.

Even though there was still construction occurring during my stay I did not mind as I wake early anyway. No inconvenience what so ever. The hotel staff is truly accommodating in every way. When all employees I met greeted me with beautiful smiles you have to think they are happy in their jobs. I asked several and they were and were also excited about the renovations occurring (responss seemed genuine). Very comfortable rooms, clean and relaxing. I will be back on my next trip to the area!!!

After 20 years of Marriott member with gold status and stay more than 20 Marriott hotels, this Costa Mesa Marriott gave us very terrible experience. The building machine noise run for entire stay time, the TV won't work at all, the bed sheet and converter old with cotton coil, not to mention with the shabby furniture. Even thought, the front desk people won't change a room. Not a good choose to stay at this Marriott, not worthy.
