Had to switch room first booked (ADA #2 first floor) because puddle of water outside of it, dark because closed blinds - room is on the pathway that everyone walks past and looks right in. Large floor space but no comfortable furnishings to sit on. Tiny narrow desk and hard chair where I definitely could not spend time writing at (a goal of my vacation). No carpeting, poor art, very unwelcoming space. Especially for the price they were charging - $250! For an upchrage, they moved me to a smaller room on second level #215 which had nice window looking out at drivewayn- so could at ,east open blinds, But no floor space (could not do my exercises), no carpet, strange art, heater loud in hallway but not get heat to main room, paper thin blanket not warm enough - no extras. Paper thin walls and adjoining door to next room meant I heard absolutely everything said and done there. When they entered their room, sounded like they were trying to enter my room. Tiny bathroom - bruised elbows using the toilet. I hardly slept a wink - had to wear a sweater and pile pillows on top of me to stay warm. Before going to bed, I put in a request to booking.com to change dates of stay to leave in the morning instead of 4 days later as I had prepaid for. In the morning, email said that the management of hotel had declined to waive cancellation fee - I would have to pay in full - which would have been $1000. I called front desk - manager Moses answered - said he could not waive cancellation as he had been charged in the past for cancellations. I got upset and he said I should call Booking to deal with it through them. He actually hung up on me when I insisted it was up to him to allow them to refund me. I sent him the email saying it was in his court to approve the date change and refund. I went to front desk and he reiterated that he would not approve and that I should call Booking - for which there was no number on my confirmation. I was incredulous at his rudeness and greed and actually found myself in tears and yelling at him (first time in my life reduced to this). He then actually called the police - which appeared to be something he's done before with irrate customers. Two officers came quickly and calmly handled the situation - with help from Booking.com agent who explained the situation to the manager and got his approval for the cancellation. I was so shaken by this horrible experience it took me three days to recover. And I still get Queasy and angry thinking about it now. Moses - you clearly need to get a different job!

My mom and I have booked this hotel for a girls weekend for seven years in a row. This year we booked the hotel for October 2022 and called to cancel in early September due to conflicts in our schedule. We were told by the new manager, Moses, that one night could be refunded but the second could not unless someone ended up booking that room on the date we had scheduled. On the date we had the room scheduled that wasn’t going to be refunded unless another person needed the room, we called the front desk and were told that the reservation was still under our name for that night. Discouraged we reiterated that we had canceled that room in September. I had someone else call separately that day to ask if there were any double bedrooms available and were told they were all booked for the night. When I brought this up to Moses for a refund he was quite confrontational, accusatory, rude, and mentioned that although he was on a vacation when this all happened that I should’ve asked for his cell number so that I could text him. WHAT?! He also said that his staff doesn’t necessarily know all of the procedures and guidelines or whether or not the hotel is fully booked. COME AGAIN? Please choose another hotel. There are several others in the area I e stayed at with similar prices or less and with better customer service.

Excellent hotel! Located in the heart of Coronado Island across from the Coronado Hotel. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. Our room was spacious, super comfy bed, great AC. Pool area looked great although we didn’t use it. Front desk staff was very kind and helpful at checkin. Offered use of beach chairs and towels although we didn’t use them. You can’t beat the location and value. Would stay here again if I’m back in the area.

I love La Avenida Inn with it's remodeled rooms, central location, and the lovely tropical setting. But I come back time after time because of the staff - Moises and Brenda, in particular - everyone is so kind and helpful, and they always ensure my needs are met. I look forward to my next visit! THANK YOU! Kind regards, Amy
