At Glorietta Bay Inn, guests are enchanted by the inviting and nostalgic atmosphere, often highlighting the hotel's historical charm and attentive staff. While the rooms receive mixed reviews for their comfort and size, cleanliness is consistently commended.
The prime location near the beach and local attractions is a hit among visitors, although some mention noise issues. The comprehensive breakfast offerings are a favorite, yet the value is sometimes questioned due to outdated amenities and uncomfortable beds.

Detailed Reviews
This is a great hotel in the best location on the island. I sympathize with businesses and hotels that are trying to recoup extraordinary losses after the 90 day shut down. But I can’t help but think that in an effort to cut costs, some hotels are taking advantage of the new rules to also cut amenities, while still charging full price and $20 a day for parking. If you are going to cut amenities, please cut some fees to off-set. This review is based on June 2020 COVID restricted amenities at this hotel.
Yet there is no buffet breakfast, I don’t know why they can’t have coffee and juices available in the lobby. Yes, there is coffee in the room, but I am making the point that the hotel has the opportunity to offer some of the old amenities and follow news, but chooses to cut them and blame the restrictions. I’m not saying I know how to do both, what I am saying is they should try, or cut fees and costs until they do.
Lastly, on the day I arrived, the room I had expected was available, but it was not clean. I asked how long it would take to clean it, and they said it couldn’t be cleaned because there was no housekeeping staff. I realize all hotels have reduced daily housekeeping, but I didn’t realize they had illuminated it completely on some days. Another example of them saving money because they don’t have to pay employees, but not passing along any of the savings due to offset reduced amenities and guest expectations.

Thank you Jcrabster, We appreciate your feedback. Sorry to hear with the reduction of our amenities your stay more than unusual. We hope as things change we'll be able to bring back more amenities and get us to a place where our guests can enjoy coffee, breakfast and a full staff. Booked 2nights here through Travelzoo which waived parking fee, included WiFi & a bottle of wine. Claudia was the front desk manager who gave us the option to check in early (but $25 fee) or have lunch & return in an hour. She was thoughtful enough to allow us to park car there. When we returned to check into our bay view room-it was just okay view. My husband went to get some ice & noticed another room just being finished with cleaning & he was allowed to look at it. I went back to see Claudia & when she saw the room wasn’t already reserved for 2 nights, she allowed us to switch. The new room was larger & had views over the pool looking towards ocean & bay view. We were very pleased!

Was in town to fish, and the Inn is less than 5 minutes from the public ramp, stayed 3 nights. In this crazy Covid era, things are very different, and it can be stressful and challenging to accomplish things that in the past were a snap. With that said, the attention to safety these guys have implemented was extremely comforting. My room was really clean and fresh, and they are blocking rooms both before and after your stay by 24/48 hours, so that there is little chance of sharing 'bad stuff.' Everything important was in-room; coffee, fridge, local info, etc. Plenty towels, extra pillows and blankets. I caught some great fish and had a great time, and was extremely happy with my stay. Lastly, the staff at this property are some of the friendliest and most helpful I have met in my travels...always a smile, great communication, and well versed in the art of service. Thanks you guys and I will be back!

My wife and I traveled here for her birthday, and left the kids at home. We stayed in the sunset room in the mansion and would highly recommend it. The room is on the smaller side but more than adequate for those who don’t need a lot of space, and plan to be outdoors more often than not. The balcony is a lovely touch and gives you the chance to take in the bay view and sunrise in the comfort of your PJs. The bathroom is clean and the shower is addicting, in the sense that it’s part shower part massage. The pool and hot tub were relaxing and enjoyable, and the morning breakfast and coffee was always delicious and timely. Other than the property itself, the location is ideal. The grounds are within walking distance from the beach, dinning options, running/biking trails, and the Hotel Del Coronado. The staff were more than accommodating which makes a trip so much better. Thank you Raj and company for making our time great.

My wife and I just visited friends in the San Diego area and stayed at this lovely inn. The main house is the location of the reception area, breakfast rooms and terrace, and some of the historical features of the dwelling - all in good condition and looking South toward Glorietta Bay. Our King Bedroom was really a suite and located in a newer building behind the main house. Very spacious, including kitchenette and separate seating area for dining, watching television or just reading. Though behind the main building, the area was wonderfully quiet as well as convenient to the Del Coronado, beaches and shopping via the back access. The staff was exceptional, pleasant, attentive, friendly and ready to assist in any way possible.
The breakfast was fine with an assortment of self-serve items such as fresh fruit, cereals, hard boiled eggs, etc. Nothing exceptional but satisfying considering the price of breakfast at other places. The real beauty is the sunny terrace making for an extra treat to accompany the meal.
Note: there was minor renovations being done while we there but did not disrupt our activities in any way. In fact, the people doing the construction could not have been polite and courteous.

We have stayed at the a Glorietta many times, and again this visit did not disappoint. We chose to celebrate a 50th anniversary at the Inn. We selected a bay king with a view of the harbor. Although this is an older, historic property it is well-maintained, and the staff go out of their way to see that everything about the property is in excellent condition.
There is a morning breakfast that will not disappoint. You can take your plate out on the patio overlooking the bay, or eat inside. The Inn’s location is across from the Del Coronado. Shopping and restaurants are all walking distance. Parking on-site is wonderful as downtown Coronado has limited parking. There is a swimming pool on-site, and the beach is less than a block away.

On a recent weekend early April visit with friends to celebrate a major birthday milestone we chose the Glorietta Bay Inn because of its perfect location across from the historic Hotel Del Coronado and the beach. In addition to the great location, the hotel has ample on-site parking ($20 per night) and an excellent complimentary breakfast served in an airy remodeled kitchen with many choices. While our upstairs room near the front (street side) of the Inn was clean and quiet (and had a nice balcony with a chair), the room was otherwise tired and very much in need of a makeover, particularly for a nightly rate of over $300 plus a hefty "resort fee" pushing the nightly fare to nearly $400. For starters, there are not enough outlets and none near the very nice desk area in a nook. The carpet is old and threadbare. The toilet seat would not stay up and everything was a drab, dull beige. The bed was comfortable and there were adequate pillows. Because of the location, the Glorietta Bay Inn will always be in demand but at this lofty price, there are many more and fresher options on Coronado.

I rarely post a negative review of a property or restaurant, but the positive reviews already posted are so far from our experience that I felt compelled to give our review. We enjoy the boutique Inn experience and chose Glorietta Bay Inn based on the website and glowing reviews. However, most of the rooms are basically tired motel rooms with cars parked by the rooms, so the parking lot was noisy morning and night. The bathroom fixtures are very old and the shower barely worked. We checked in for a five night stay and we’re told there would be maid service on day three, but no maid service ever came. The buffet breakfast was frankly inedible, and the only coffee available was from machines( one of which was broken) , so there was always a line for terrible machine coffee. There is a $40 per day resort fee with the only resort amenity being a small swimming pool. The website is very misleading about this property.

My wife and I when faced with where to go for a honeymoon were concerned about travel during the pandemic. After much discussion we decided to go to Coronado island. We felt safe on the island due to its strict rules with wearing masks and the outdoors seating at restaurants. Plus the beach has plenty of room to spread out on. After a little research and talking with friends we decided to book at the glorietta. When we booked with the glorietta we were able to get an excellent 3 day package which included parking and a gift card. We were so happy that we decided to book an additional night! The general manager heard that we were staying an extra night and kindly offered to keep us in the same room.

Our entire family,14 in total, celebrates Christmas together at some resort in the U.S. every other year. This is the first time we have done so at the same resort, staying at Glorietta Bay in 2015 and now in 2019. Both times we reserved the superb Penthouse suite and 7 other mansion rooms. We love the ambiance and history of the entire
Mansion, The individual rooms are room, well kept most with openers and views . The amenities are all first class and enumerous. The included breakfast buffet in the morning has everything - a delight which starts everyday. We have stayed at many a Bed and Breakfast Inn = this ones the best! Parking is a really BIG deal in Coronado and GB has plenty, but also most everything, shopping, dining, the beach is within walking distance. Our family clamored to return and who knows we may do it again!

Hello there,
Our two bedroom does come with a kitchennette; Microwave, small refigerator counter top/sink.
Not all two bedroom suites have balconies to them.
Hello there, the last of the construction is currently happening closer to the beach side than near Orange Avenue. It's not always noticeable, with them being further away now. On a quick note, their lobby is now open and its beautiful!
