Located in Coronado, CA, just across the San Diego/Coronado Bay Bridge from downtown San Diego. Crown City Inn is your affordable choice to stay close to the beach. We have a swimming pool, beach cruiser bicycles, and surf/boogie boards to borrow to play in the water. All rooms have complimentary Wi-Fi internet access. On-site Crown Bistro is a favorite with the locals and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and room service daily. Kids and pets are welcome. Both receive a goody bag at check-in. Don't miss our afternoon "tea" with homemade almond shortbread, oatmeal-cranberry cookies, thumbprint cookies and brownies; and coffee and iced tea bar.

Wonderful stay at the Crown City Inn, our first time in Coronado for a wedding and we decided to make it a long weekend (3 nights). We walked everywhere, because the hotel is centrally located its easy to get anywhere on foot (restaurants, the beach, bars, etc all within 1 miles walk). We ate brunch at the bistro downstairs and really enjoyed the service as well as the food, it reminded us of being in Europe sitting street side at a little cafe. We also enjoyed both Claytons cafe and Claytons bakery down the street (delicious fresh pastries!) and the Henry for dinner (short rib potstickers!). The hotel has bikes to rent although they're weathered and there are no handrail brakes (back pedal brakes) and the streets can be kind of dangerous to ride on. We ended up renting bikes from a local shop instead since the handrail brakes we feel more comfortable on. The beds were comfy and pool was heated, there's also A/C! We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

Location, cleanliness and good service make the Crown City a great place to stay. I traveled with my parents to reminisce about our family history and wanted to stay in a place that was reasonably priced. The Crown City fit the bill. Located in the middle of Orange Ave. so we could either walk towards the Bay or the Hotel Del without tiring out my 82 year old mother. We also rode the free cruiser bikes and noted that there were plenty of beach gear available as well. The bed in one of the rooms was uncomfortable - spent a bit too much time trying to crawl out of the dip in the middle, but my parents room had a comfortable bed.

prices overall on the island for rooms for some reason had gone through the roof then found the CCI. Reasonable rates so I jumped on it.

I was a little late landing and as I was leaving the airport got a call from the office checking on when I would get there and if was going to get there after the office closed where to find my key. I wasn't going to be that late but nice to know they were looking out for me.

Limited parking but seemed to always be spaces on the street or behind the hotel.

Room was very clean and I was happy that I chose this property.

It was about a 10 min walk to the heart of Coronado (closer to The Del) which even though the hotel was right on Orange Ave it was quiet. If I had to say anything negative it would be these two things.

1- No carpet on the floor which I like to step out of bed onto a warm floor.
2- Since no carpet on the floor of the room when the person above me was up early to get to the airport you heard them moving around to get ready.

I would definitely stay here again on my next trip

The hotel is located along Orange Avenue. It is nearly equidistant from the north and south beaches. The walk to dog beach is a little over a mile and if it is hot and humid, it can be taxing. There are restaurants within walking distance, although it is a walk. There is a supermarket going south that is actually quite interesting and has a lot of prepared foods. Parking is limited and if you do find a place, I would keep it there for the entire visit. We had a room that was a staircase. The landing was considered a patio with a small table and two chairs. The room was clean, the shower hot and the bed was comfortable. The air conditioner was extremely noisy, but if we turned it off, we would have succumbed to the heat and humidity. It is a dog friendly hotel and there are lots of places to walk your dog. We took Ubers to some of the nicer restaurants in the evening. The area seems safe, but you can never tell. Overall, it was a nice hotel in a reasonable location and our dog seemed to enjoy the experience.

Thanks for your very specific review. We are glad you liked most of what we offer here. I wish you would have given us a chance to help with the AC as we could have worked on or replaced it possibly, but I will check now. We are anywhere from 2 -10 blocks from all the shopping and restaurants. During the Summer, Coronado has both a free local bus up and down Orange Ave. and a free "ride share" type service. Hope to see you again.

I was here for one rejuvenating night.
Pleasant staff, nice ambiance, nice room. It used to be an inn but it TRULY transitioned into a pleasant tiny boutique hotel. In particular, the materials chosed on the bathrooms seemed to me a smart choice. Beautiful plants grow on any square inch available. Bikes can be borrowed - your stay will get an additional dimension.
Could not stay for dining -too bad.
I recommend it to business travelers, couples, families with kids.

I was REALLY shocked with this hotel for the value compared to the price. Although you can tell the building is old and the walls are thin, the owners have done a really good job at upkeep and renovation to make it a comfortable, modern hotel. The beds were comfortable and the showers were nice. They include a microwave and large mini-fridge. They also include free bike rentals during the day, beach chairs, umbrellas, and beach toys. And the heated pool was open, even during the coronavirus time, which made me VERY happy. The front desk staff was incredibly nice and made me feel at home even before I checked in when I called with questions. The location is great, and is less than a mile from every beach on the island, as well as the ferry and the bridge.
It was so safe and comfortable that most of the hotel guests kept their doors open all day (at a motel!). They did have a restaurant, but I did not try it, as they did not allow dine-in even though it was officially legally allowed, so we went and supported restaurants willing to give full-service. The hotel was very CLEAN as well. I'd definitely recommend Crown City Inn for anyone going to Coronado Island, or even if you are going downtown San Diego (less than 10 minutes away).

Stayed here less than month ago and experience was day/night. This stay was not a good one starting with the rate that owner asked me how much our per diem rate was and adjusted room rate accordingly (last month $99, this stay $154, plus 10% tax). No frills and regard for customers is questionable. You can email me for details, but they allow a for profit restaurant to empty the only ice machine on premises, are aware, and give a half hearted apology about it. Don't stay in Rooms 112 or 114, right across from housekeeper's laundry facility and your room access will be limited and noisy. The Bistro next door had a good dinner the night I ate there, but they hype the brunch but good luck getting in there without a 30-45 min wait. I would go to Imperial Beach for a more economical stay with better amenities and food options. The Burger Lounge they promote charges $11 for delivery, insane.

Hello, we're very sorry you were disappointed with your stay. We work hard to make sure all of our guests are happy and we're sorry to hear we missed the mark with your stay. Our daily room rates are subject to change. Since everyone on a government or military per diem has a different rate, we do ask guests to ensure they receive the proper rate. Our ice machine is shared with the Bistro on site, as it is part of our establishment. It is rare that we run out of ice, but if we are running low, we will buy extra ice to keep up. We will speak to our staff about being more on top of monitoring the ice as well as being quieter near the laundry facility. Unfortunately, while we can recommend a nearby restaurant for their food, we cannot control their delivery charges. We always recommend guests bring any issues they experience to the attention of the front desk during their stay so we can address and fix them immediately. We apologize and hope you'll give us another chance in the future!

Last year, my dog and I had such a stellar stay. However, the second time around was only average. Although the room was clean, the woman at the front desk was not as friendly and professional, as she was last year. She accused me of using a cane and changed my room to the second floor when I never requested any change. She alleges that my original room had an issue and I would be charged a $50 surcharge because it was not suited for pets. I booked my reservation via BringFido, so I am perplexed as to why she assumed that I would not have my dog with me. To make matters worse, the woman, double billed me. She charged me an additional $20 for my dog which is correct. But, she also billed me in error $50 for the room change which is not reflected on either of my receipts. Taking unauthorized funds is such a violation.

The next day, I spoke with the manager and she clearly and professionally explained everything to me. Yet, she attested that she could not locate the extraneous $50 surcharge. My checkin date was October 11, 2022 and the $50 erroneous surcharge is still pending. My bank already knows about this predicament. Due to the representative’s unprofessional interaction with me, I will not be staying a third time when my dog and I visit Coronado Island, California. It is so disappointing when we had a fantastic time with this company last year. Consistency is crucial for any business to maintain their clientele.

The property is just perfectly Coronado and a great place to bring your dog. King even received a toy, treats, and clean up bags at check in.

The staff is friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and had a fridge and microwave. I enjoyed the morning coffee in the lobby and they have cookies every afternoon also in the lobby. The shower had good water pressure. There was a parking space in the courtyard when I arrived in my vehicle was able to stay my whole visit in the same spot. There aren’t enough for everyone but there is plenty of parking close by.

The bistro was great and dog friendly as well. When you get your morning coffee from the lobby, you can sit by the pool and enjoy it. I also highly recommend Jolie just a few steps away for dinner or brunch. I can’t wait to come back here for another visit.

The manager,Marsha, went above and beyond her duty in handling our reservation! We initially booked a non pet friendly room (the last one available since they were sold out & we did have 2 small hypoallergenic dogs), Marsha worked her magic and was able to get us a pet friendly room. Had she not, we would’ve had to pay an extra fee for the non pet friendly room. I love staying here at the inn (with or without my pups) because it’s quaint, quiet, and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. The bistro located at the hotel is awesome also!

It depends what you call a lot of walking! It's 1.6 miles to the ferry (about 30 minutes) to the ferry which is a little walking where I come from! It's a lovely island to stay and walk) on.
