A quick trip for a cooking class at Yankee Hill Winery (reviewed that too) so we stayed close by at Harlan House. Truly, we could've walked both to Yankee Hill and the historic Columbia but drove instead since we didn't know how close it all is. Harlan House is clean and comfy (must haves in my book) and Sam couldn't... More

Both my mother-in-law, my son and his girlfriend, and a friend from Japan all have stayed here last month! Every one loved it, the beds were comfy, the food delicious and the conversation with Sam, the hostess was really fun! We love the upstairs rooms which are all ensuite and decorated in antiques, great views. The deer come and socialize... More

The owner, Samantha makes this place come together after twenty-four years of ownership. Her participation in making every guest feel welcome and comfortable add to the ambiance and warmth of the experience. There are some small inequities to overlook in the physical shape of the aging building, but they are minor in the total perception of your stay. Sam feeds... More

B & B were just great. Sam has a special relationship with the local wildlife and lots of stories to share. We stayed one night in the wine cellar with private entrance! Walked to the nearby Columbia Historic State park!

What a KICK!!! This place may be old... but it sure has all the fun in staying in a gold mining town. "Sam" the keeper of this place, makes everyone special and is the real reason for staying here. Everything is very clean and my wife and I had a great time staying here. The B&B is right next to... More

I stayed here while moving my daughter into the college and it was the perfect choice. I stayed in the cellar room and am so glad I did. After moving boxes all day and doing the shopping for her pantry, I was wiped out and the in room hot tub really hit the spot. Sam is the sweetest lady and... More

The Harlan House in Columbia was great place for a two night stay for my mother and I. My mom wanted to see the old mining town and had never stayed in a bed and breakfast before. It was an easy drive back to Sonora and very quiet. A bit away from any busy roads. The Harlan House was decorated... More

We spent just one night in Harlan House. Very comfortable B & B, full of character and charm. Breakfast cooked to perfection. Possibly could of been slightly cleaner, although bedding etc spotless, perhaps just a dust around the skirting and dado rails needed. I would certainly recommend this place and would love to return one day. We used this as... More

This place was great! Coming from Cynical mistrusting So Cal we were not sure what to expect. Moving to the Sonoracolumbia area in January as newly retirees. Never stayed in a B & B before. Checked the web site and reviews and thought this would be a great rest stop for a couple of days after bringing up our first... More

We stayed one night at The Harlan House as a stop over to break up the drive between Lake Tahoe and Los Angeles, though there is plenty to see in this area and it isn't too far from Yosemite. First, read review by waya5. That person is on spot and I couldn't write anything more eloquent! Sam is wonderful. She... More
