Would love to give this place a better review. The facilities are nice and well maintained. Most of the staff I spoke with was really helpful and they even loaned me equipment. However on our second night a fire broke out ~2 miles away. Many people left right then. I got up and checked on the fire every hour or so. By morning it had grown from 50 acres to 2000 acres. Everyone was leaving and they are not working with us on any refund. Smoke filled the place and ash raining down everywhere, didn't really feel like I had an option to leave or not. They didn’t want to work with us on a credit or a refund or anything. Sure enough, they were evacuated on the last day of my scheduled stay.

Hi Austin, Thanks for reaching out to us, we're always interested in knowing how we did. A fire (Slank Fire) did break out at 6:30 pm on Saturday 8-29 due to lighting strike. Fire is located 3 ridges away at 12,000 feet approximately 12 miles away. The Fire was moving south towards Coleville away from us. The Little Antelope Pack Station on Mill Creek Road was asked to evaluate for precautionary measures. No other evacuations or closures were ordered. We are in constant contact with fire officials. You left on Sunday at 1:00 pm, checking out a day and a half early. as did three other guests who decided the fire was aggravating their asthma. We understand your frustration, but we weren't ordered to evacuate, and the fire was actually moving away from us. We do hope you'll be back to join us again some other time, we wish you safe travels and all the best.

This is a nice place to stop. The sites are a mix of pull through and back in level sites. The rest rooms are nicely setup with lots of individual clean full baths. Full hookups and a helpful and friendly staff.

The front desk service was excellent, and the room was nicely updated and comfortable. What we were disappointed in was the view, or lack of view! We were looking forward to sitting on the little patio and enjoying a beautiful view after a long day of driving and possibly a dip in the pool. From the pictures it looks like a beautiful view of the mountains behind the lodge, and pool area very inviting. It turned out the Mountain View is from the front door and parking lot while the patio overlooks the KOA campground/RV Park. The pool was super busy too with people from the KOA not inviting at all. It’s fine for an overnight stay, but not the picturesque secluded lodge we hoped for.

We stopped here for a could of days while visiting Yosemite. The park is nice and well maintained the staff is super nice and the camp spots are level and some even equipped with grills. The only drawback to this place is the road next to it. US 395 is a speedway. It’s hard to relax when there are large trucks screaming by at 70mph. But that something the owners can’t fix. We would return here again.

We had an great stay at this KOA. The guys who run the place were amazing and the facilities were impeccable. The pool and kids play area were great. The view from the pool is fantastic and the water was perfect. We got in late so the guys kept the pool open late for us and opened it early the next morning. Make sure you look at the cliffs at nighttime as they’re lit up. It’s a great basecamp for exploring Tahoe, Virginia City and the many other attractions. I wish we could have stayed longer but we’ll definitely be back.
