#2 of 2 B&Bs / Inns in Cloverdale
Once a hunting retreat owned by railroad magnate Charles Crocker in the 1880s, the Crocker Ranch has been a sheep ranch, dude ranch, restaurant and B&B. Tucked into the hillside above Sonoma County's Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys, two of California's great wine appellations, the Old Crocker Inn offers ten guest rooms and cottages, full breakfasts, massage service, a swimming pool and plenty of space to relax. This is rustic luxury at its best, just minutes from Healdsburg and dozens of world-class wineries and fine restaurants.

I enthusiastically recommend the Old Crocker Inn. The place has the authenticity, natural beauty, and fresh food that makes northern CA a wonderful place to explore. The customer service is genuine and welcoming. The accommodations are clean and well taken care of. We hope to be back.

The grounds, the buildings, the beds, the breakfast, the pool, all well cared for a lovingly maintained. It's a bit remote and does not have all the latest in conveniences, but the caretakers are very thoughtful and helpful. We were there 2 nights for a wedding in Hopland and could not have been more pleased. Quiet and dark and night and restful and peaceful at all times. The pool was well cared for and bigger than you usually expect from a facility like this. Nice sitting area all around and outside the rooms with amazing views and sunsets. Breakfast was excellent, varied and more than you could possibly eat at a sitting. If you like peaceful and remote, this is the place for you. Google Maps could not find it correctly, so use an actual map to find it. Not a bad price for this area. Not cheap though. It takes a while to get to/from US 101 from the hotel. Just take your time.

We have been coming to the Old Crocker Inn since 2005. My husband and I love the history and the rustic charm. The people are warm and friendly. The Crocker Room is spectacular. It’s like coming home!

Tucked in the hills close to the 101 near Cloverdale sits the Old Crocker Inn. This place is simple, relaxing, beautiful and situated perfectly for day trips around the Napa/Sonoma area. Old Crocker has a great historical background of railroad magnets and fires and land development. Currently owned by a lovely woman named Kathy, who because we couldn’t recall her name early in our stay and because she has an ethereal quality, we affectionately nicknamed Stardust. She’s a relatively new owner and she has lots of plans for the lodge and grounds. I stayed in the Judah room in the lodge, there are at least 5 rooms there and a few other in separate cabins. While you think most would prefer the cabins due to their privacy, our group had people in both and hands down the lodge ended up being the better choice. More solidly built, incredibly quiet, amazing accommodations and a beautiful high deck for relaxing. They also have Sonoma’s first pool there right in the lodge even though it’s covered by a courtyard now.....hoping they open that back up it would be amazing! Rooms-Judah was so comfortable, spacious and just charming. Love the deck doors, the antique furniture, the fire place that is run by the thermostat and the most comfortable bed ever! Grounds-blooming, peaceful. Birds, bees, fragrant. With only 5 acres this place is an oasis. There are deer on the grounds, I saw a white cat wandering around and of course Doug the dog. Common areas-the wrap around deck is the best spot and you’ll hear the pond frogs all night. It was too cool to use the pool but that area has the same vibe-simple, comfortable, quiet. Lobby and restaurant are homey and quaint. Food-Danny did our cooking (I hope I have his name right along with Linda I believe) and everything he produces is the best! We had eggs Benedict, quiche, yogurt with fresh fruit, fruit smoothies, amazing croissants. He picked rosemary off the front garden for our plates. So so good! Not fancy, doesn’t have the latest gadgets, not the most modern and new decor....if that’s what you need go elsewhere. If you are looking for comfort, beauty, simple but elegant surroundings, the smell of a budding garden and history this is your place to unwind. You will find yourself moving at half your normal pace here. I would go again in a heartbeat!

If you are going to be in Sonoma Valley, you are going to have many places to choose from when it comes to lodging. If you are looking for a place that delivers a peaceful, relaxing and romantic atmosphere, Old Crocker Inn is the place. It is out of the way to say the least but well worth it when you get there. Built as a hunting lodge for the railroad tycoon, the charm of the old west is everywhere. Wildlife everywhere, fruit trees, gardens and picturesque views are the norm here. We stayed in the master bedroom of the main house. A canopy bed, fireplace and bear claw tub greeted us. Outstanding service from the caretaker made it even better.
