My wife and I spent a night at Carmel Valley Lodge during Labor Day Weekend. The customer service, attention to detail, and overall experience were outstanding. They have recently changed ownership, and every employee is doing their best to make the guest comfortable. Not the best hotel in town, but probably the best price/quality option. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here for the 2019 Concours d'Elegance and learned that this inn is under new ownership. It was clear they are giving it the TLC it deserves. It is in a great location and the grounds are beautiful. The beds and linens were very comfortable. The staff are really striving to please. It is clear they are in the middle of improving the property; we could see areas that are still in need of some love, but we could also see the areas that have already received updates and attention. Some tips for the new owners as they continue improvements: offer a soap dish at the sink in rooms, increase the height of shower heads in bathrooms, add more outlets and in better locations to charge devices, hang full-length mirrors in rooms. To future guests perusing this property: Stay here! You won't be disappointed and I bet your stay will be even better than ours was as they work to make it even better.

With the disclaimer that my husband and I ventured out to Edgar’s on the US Open weekend at Pebble Beach, restaurant management should have predicted the surge of customers and staffed up accordingly. Instead we were given mixed messages - told on the phone that we could have a table of arcane right over - then told there would be a wait when we arrived. We waited a very long time for our courses; apologies and (rejected) offers of free wine did not make the wait tolerable late into the dinner period. The food was good enough. I’d return for the convenience when stating at Quail Lodge, but not in a busy weekend. The setting is pretty, beautiful vines in bloom in summer. One gets the impression, as happens at many resorts areas, great aspirations can’t be executed because of reliance on local staff untrained in a higher level restaurant endeavor.

We're sorry but this is the Carmel Valley Lodge. Not Edgars Restaurant.

Clearly, the new owners are taking pride in the lodge and putting in a lot of improvements. The grounds are coming to life and the room we stayed in was perfect. From reception, to the complimentary breakfast treats, to the ample amenities, this place is a very good value.

We rented a small cabin they had available. It was very clean and comfortable! They had a light breakfast each morning. A very pleasant setting and stay and the town surrounding it is very quaint. Lots of wine tasting available in the town and the area.
