very nice place but expensive, love the gardens, lovely rooms and view, great food, happy with the service. Lovely place for a wedding. Would be nice if they had a business center for printing boarding passes.
Can’t wait to come back. While it had been 20 years since my last visit, it still retains its pedigree. Totally relaxing and a real cut above. Falling asleep to sound of ocean waves was the perfect end to each evening. Loved it!
We stayed for a wedding and for the price they charge this hotel is NOT worth it. The rooms were SO SMALL and they lacked amenities that you'd expect for a room with that price tag. Their breakfast is really good and we enjoyed that but once you go in your room it's like staying at a cheap hotel.
The hotel staff is lovely and the grounds and location are great. I paid a high price for a very basic room. I don’t mind splurging on hotel stays, it’s a vacation after all. It is very disappointing though when your few days of vacation are spent in a room overlooking old tv satellites and ac units as well as next to a staff closet. The bedding was just ok and the room felt like it could have easily been a older best western. I will admit that it’s the price of $700+/night that was the problem. I just expect the price to match the experience. If I had booked a $400 room then I would have expected the room I had.
The grounds at this hotel are beautiful and charming and the breakfast is pretty good but the room we stayed in was poorly maintained and highly overpriced. I knew the hotel was an older property, but I would think for $800 dollars a night the room would have been better maintained and cleaned. I responded to the private hotel survey with details and did not even receive a response. I am unsure if our room which was over the kitchen was an anomaly because I have never previously stayed at this hotel.
overpriced, aged facility, lots of kids, sub part staff. gardens and short walk to the beach are the ++.in the future I'll stay at accommodations half the price such as the Pine Inn. However, with my 83 mother the all-inclusive amenities were a bonus to be fair.
Lovely location and great breakfast. Unfortunately, our room was incredibly small and poorly designed. Street noise was an issue as was parking. We acquired room on a charity auction, and we surely expected better.
Exquisite “old world” hotel in the hear of Carmel. Beautiful grand staircase as you enter the hotel. Love all the amenities that come with your stay. From the afternoon cookies to the champagne breakfast-it’s just the most warm and inviting hotel. The breakfast presentation and service is beyond perfection. I normally would not stay at a hotel without AC but we kept our windows open and it made our stay even better. My only recommendation would be for the hotel to invest in a scent. This could be done with essential oils through out the hotel. It was built in 1905 which is part of its beauty but this would compliment the hotel. The gardens are gorgeous!
This was for our 28th anniversary in which we took our chocolate lab and you were worth every penny!! The staff just treated us like royalty. They even took us to the restaurant and picked us up. Thanks you 😊
Other than the surprise of not having valet or parking readily available and no elevators and no a/c in the rooms, the hotel is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and helpful - quick to respond and help. I appreciate that the TVs allow casting. Expensive, but so is everything in Carmel. The Beach is not that close, given the name. Location was great.
