Everyone was so friendly and welcoming - I felt at home the minute I arrived. The hotel is close to every place I wanted to go and parking was so convenient. The ONLY negative, in my opinion, is the lighting in the bathroom. It wasn't bright enough and truly needs to be updated.

Took advantage of a special offer by the Carmel Mission Inn and was not disappointed. The location was perfect for us as we had planned on hiking around Point Lobos and shopping in Carmel. The Inn was very clean and the rooms had nice amenities, robes too! Our stay included break

Great location & friendly staff but "dog friendly" room was dingy, dirty and depressing. I can't comment on the regular guest rooms but with so many dog friendly properties on the Monterey Peninsula we won't be back here,

Fabulous find in Carmel – not right on the beachside but just a few kms south – the only thing that makes this hotel a 3.5 star is the décor which is quite dated. However, everything else is wonderful. Large spacious hotel; great and friendly checkin; rooms are very generously

Hi. Thinking of booking here for 5 nights at the end of our road trip to explore big sur etc. Is this easy to reach big sur, maybe Hearst castle etc ? Also, what it the check in policy here, are you able to leave a cash deposit. We will be flying back to UK from SAN Fran airport, flight leaves about 5:40pm, is that realistic to reach leaving from this hotel ( didn’t really want our last nigh in San Fran ) ? Many thanks
I agree with all that has been posted so far, but would add that I would not want to try to drive from there to San Fran in a hurry.

Hi. I’m thinking of booking a night here with my family so to explore big sur. is this far from big sur? We are actually staying in LA but thought we would need a night here to see as much as we can in a couple days. Also, do you have to leave a credit card check in, or do they except cash deposit at check in ( been ripped off with credit card check ins ). Thanks so much
It's close to Big Sur with (as noted above) a gorgeous drive. There are hotels / inns inside of the park where you can stay, but if you want something more centrally located to also get to the Aquarium, grocery store, restaurants, etc. this would be perfect. However, as it's north of Big Sur and you'd have to drive through the park to get to it, the road closures might be an issue if you take highway 1. Otherwise you could take I-5 from LA to Carmel and then drive south to Big Sur or fly into San Fran and drive down from there. We did that with some friends from the UK and it was an awesome drive, we also stopped in Santa Cruz and that was super fun.

Is there anything around the hotel to see or do that is walking distance?
The Barnyard is behind the hotel. It has restaurants and some small shops. Beautiful place to take family pictures! You can walk across the street to a wonderful shopping center, called Crossroads. Great shops, restaurants, candy, coffee, cakes, shoes, travel gear, wine tasting, grocery store, pet store... It is about five minutes walk. Perfect to place to roam around. We go there everytime we visit Carmel. For the most relaxing day ever, go to Refuge. The hotel has information, or look it up on google. You have to drive, about ten minutes, but our very favorite place to relax!
