Stayed here in February when we were passing through heading to LA. The room had a terrible smell as soon as we opened the door and I was not sure if we were going to be able to stay in the room it was that bad. However we opened up every window before we headed out in the afternoon and the smell had subsided just enough to be able to stay there. We were only there one night so just sucked it up. The hotel is very dated aswell, but is in a great location and walking distance to town. There is also free parking and wifi. They also had a free buffet breakfast in the breakfast room which was nice.
Great location at the end of the Carmel main street. Older hotel but they do a good job of maintaining the property and they do have clean rooms. Be sure to book way in advance, this place always seems to very popular.
We've been coming to Carmel for 20 years, why did we never stay here until now? This place is a perfect combination of location, price, and quality. It isn't the fanciest place to stay, but it is very nice. Room was roomy, clean, and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and the breakfast (included) was decent. The view is what makes it phenomenal. Definitely upgrade to a room with a balcony, which puts you on the 4th or 5th floor, and gives you a clear view of the ocean! And this was at about 60% the cost of the more upscale place where we usually stay. There are two restaurants right across the street, a grocery store and liquor store next door, and Ocean Ave. is a block and a half away. Parking is available on site and off the street. This will definitely be a go-to spot from now on.…
Positives: Got a room with a nice view, and the bed was amazingly comfortable. Fireplace was very nice. Negatives: cold rooms, bathroom without heating and ice cold floor. Breakfast was mediocre at best.
Once more we enjoyed Carmel and the hiking close by. This time we came during the AT&T golf tournament in Pebble Beach. The city was crowded but we got a decent price at this hotel. The room was nice and well heated. The location of the hotel is a couple of steps from a local market and 1.5 blocks from Ocean Ave. There many excellent restaurants. The hotel breakfast was included but it was not our cup of tea. We decided to walk to a better breakfast place, that was easy. In other words I give 4 out 5 to this place for the room, the parking in premises and the price. In summer time the swimming pool would be a nice extra that is available. Daniel
