My wife and I stayed here in August 2016. This is my second trip to Carmel. If you have never been it is important to know that most of Carmel is elegant but understated. Most properties including hotels, restaurants, and shops have a rustic and quaint appeal. There are no high rise stucco hotels. Most hotels really are inns that... More

I'm somewhat reluctant to review this place, only out of some selfishness, to keep it a secret for our next visit to Carmel. It may not appeal to everyone, especially those who are all about modern luxury. But if you want a clean, comfortable place to sleep, right in the middle town, and like to save your money for "doin'... More

Love this place! Its what I imagine vacationing families 60 years ago would enjoy. There is a main building, rustic on the outside but with spacious, renovated rooms inside. I prefer the wood cottages. There are 4 - two with tiny kitchenettes and two without. They are referred to as 'unrestored' but are clean, bright and delightful. One has a... More

The Homestead Inn is a very nice, quaint little place to stay! I visited Carmel by the Sea for a friend's wedding in March 2016. It is a cute little town and the Homestead Inn fits right into that. The Inn was within walking distance of a lot of the restaurants and shops the town has to offer. It was... More

The Homestead was a great place to stay while in Carmel for the marathon. Very rustic (room 49) but wonderful location and nice to have a kitchenette. Do not stay here if you want up scale. This is a quaint cottage like atmosphere. We loved that our room was next to the pretty courtyard. But can be noisy if s... More

So 4/5 stars does not equal "perfect", but this place IS great. This hotel has a nice charm to it where you are in older rooms. We found our bed to be very comfortable and the room fitting to what we need. The location of this hotel is ideal for walking around Carmel and not worrying about having to drive... More

This place SO works for us. It is the sister property to The Mission Ranch (which we have stayed at in the past). We booked in advance and requested one of their updated rooms with a king bed. We arrived in our car and parked in the very convenient loading zone just outside the office doorway. When we had finished... More

The Homestead is conveniently located for walking to restaurants and shops in Carmel. The "Rustic" rooms are nice and the hotel has done a good job on the "Remodeled" rooms. Some of the rooms are quite large. Guests can easily walk or drive to The Mission Ranch(sister hotel) for breakfast. Prices are reasonable.

A peaceful spot in a residential area within easy walking distance of the shops and restaurants of Carmel by the Sea. The address we had was for Mission Ranch, not Homestead Inn, so we were initially confused about what we had booked. The staff at Mission Ranch informed us that Homestead Inn is a sister hotel, presumably to take the... More

Our room was quite large, lots of windows, nice view, easy access in and out, and quiet. We walked everywhere in town. Needed to drive to Mission Ranch for breakfast near the tennis courts. Very friendly and helpful staff in both locations. We recommend the Homestead Inn to all our family and friends.
