Beautiful, unique and fanciful themed accommodation. We stayed in the Katydid Cottage which was clean, cosy and met all of our needs. Staff exceeded our expectations and made great recommendations for restaurants in Carmel and also for our upcoming road trip through Big Sur. Breakfast was also good. Would highly recommend!

Excellent location very close to the beach in the center of Carmel. Pet friendly, complete with a cute cat named Shadow. The room was fully accommodating, clean with daily maid service that was not expected at a B&B but was like a regular hotel. The outside fire pits provided just the right amount of warmth to keep the edge off... More

Wow, dirty, antiquated, run down, hot, dangerous. Ok, on my way to my room the floor was littered with dirt, grass, and trash. One piece of trash was on the stairs, a candy wrapper. It was there when I checked in, when I switched rooms, went to dinner, and checked out the next morning. Front desk is chipped as trim... More

We booked two rooms (One being the Tree House) for 2 nights in June 2016. Both of our rooms were clean and had nice little touches (a tuck bar/coffee machine/complimentary sherry.) There is complimentary wine and crackers at 5pm and continental breakfast is serviced in the morning. There is plenty of outdoor space to relax and the staff all seemed... More

Travelling as a family of four this was the second stop on our California trip and what an unexpected treat. Carmel by the Sea is beautiful, filled with quaint "fairy tale" style houses and The Lamplighter Inn followed this theme. We stayed in two rooms - Hansel and Gretel (which would have actually been fine for all four of us... More

My husband and I stayed here for two nights on our coastal drive in California. Carmel is a beautiful little town and Lamp Lighter Inn perfectly fits in and compliments the town. We stayed in the tree top room which was lovely and had a back balcony where you felt like you were sitting in the trees drinking your morning... More

I loved the fire pit here during our winter visit. The suites are homely and cosy. Our room had a bleach smell but otherwise was perfect and clean. Service here was amazing. Excellent breakfast options.

We have been to Carmel often, but have not stayed here. The Inn is over 100 years old. Breakfast, outdoor seating areas with fireplaces, wine in the afternoon, very caring and attentive staff. The Concours suite has a small back yard for dogs. Great to have that private area and entrance. We will definitely go back! Nice to be on... More

What a fabulous place to stay. We were only planning on staying one night, but ended up staying three! Really great rooms. Full of charm and character. Wonderful continental style breakfast supplied by Jack....as well as his wine and cheese happy hour. The outdoor seating and fire pits create such a great informal atmosphere. If you want somewhere charming quirky... More

After a 5 hour drive, and to arrive at the inn, it felt like we entered a quaint little village. It was around 5pm and everyone was having a sip by the fire and saying "hi" as we walked pass. It felt like home. The location is very central and dinner recommendation by the lady inn-keeper ( sorry i didnt... More
