We stayed three nights in The Garrett Loft. Lovely, comfortable bed, charming furnishings, 'open' fire, nice big bathroom.Lovely landscaped gardens & outdoor area. Breakfast disappointing; just a small basket of fruit/yoghurt for a pricey room! I believe there used to be vouchers for a local eatery, which would have been far nicer. An easy chair/sofa by the fireplace would also...

We arrived in Carmel on a Saturday with no reservations and no real plans. We walked into the Lamp Lighter to see if they had any vacancies, and found that their sister property had a room available. We jumped on it and we're so glad we did! The property is very cute, well landscaped and in a great location. We...

We had the pleasure of staying at the Forest Lodge, and couldn't have asked for a more pleasant, inviting place to stay while in Camel. We would definitely recommend staying here! Drawing you into the Forest Lodge is its beautiful cottage feel. The rooms are surrounded by wonderful sitting areas, which we enjoyed in the evenings. Being pet friendly is...

My wife and I recently stayed in the Garrett Loft room and upon entering our first reaction was "Wow"! The room was exquisitely decorated in a beachy/cottage decor and it was immediately clear that the proprietors took great care to get the details right; from the decanter of Port Wine, to the hand distressed shutters, to the stained glass windows,...

My wife and I spent three days in Carmel for Valentine's Day and had an amazing time. Forest Lodge is a group of 3 or 4 houses right in the beginning of Ocean Avenue in downtown Carmel, that is associated to Lamplighter Inn a few blocks down. We stayed in the Garret Loft, a spacious two-room suite in the second...

Having had great experiences at Forest Lodge twice before, we were absolutely delighted to be able to reserve the entire premises for my birthday celebration. Melissa gave great advice for figuring out who should stay in which rooms (Dali and Westin are connected, as are Ocean Ave and Garden House), and she also made a great recommendation for my birthday...

you have to know that I'm High Maintenance (that's what others say.I say I'm specific). I've traveled for business a lot. I don't give a five star easily. This however was for fun. The cottages/rooms where beautiful, clean, pretty and warm. You have a fire place and their is sherry waiting for you to sip. Our room had a microwave,...

I highly enjoyed our stay at Forest Lodge hotel. We stayed there only for one night on our way from SF down south, but it was great and unforgettable experience. We got very romantic room with fireplace!!! Wow! The place was clean and comfortable. The only improvement I could imagine was a little bit more noise isolation between rooms;) The...

Second "bedroom" had no door, or a drape for privacy. Space heater in same room had no instructions and friend froze, up all night. Power went out when microwave used, took over 1/2 to fix. Had to walk south on Ocean over 6 blocks to get promised continental breakfast. Why bother? Looks on internet are deceiving. Perceived living room was...

Again, as I did that morning, let me apologize for not having instructions about the space heater. I do know how frustrating it is when traveling and not being able to figure out how things work. The very day I saw you, I purchased a new heater that will be a little more simplified for future guests. As far as...

My boyfriend and I went to Carmel for the 1st time adn stayed at the LampLighter Inn in Carmel- as we approached, we both thought "how can anyone stay anyone but the LampLighter Inn?" It was the most beautiful hotel we saw in Carmel- because it wasn't quite a hotel. It was an intimate cottage yet provided more than a...
