My friends and I spent two nights in the Garrett Loft...each evening free wine and snacks are provided in the hotel's main courtyard as well as continental breakfast each morning. Our "hostess", Peggy, greeted us each evening and morning and she was eager to make things perfect for us, make us comfortable, and provide any little service for us that... More

Forest Lodge and her sister property in Carmel (The Lamplighter Inn) are both owned and run by the same management. We thought we'd booked the L.I. but when we arrived at reception we were told our cottage was a few blocks away. We were not disappointed. In fact the F.L. is in a quieter location and the cottages are better... More

that this B&B was bang right at a 5 way stop I would not have booked it. In addition it is far too expensive for a location like this. For a poorly breakfast you have to walk to the sister hotel which is not very convenient either. We did not like this place.

We only live 2 1/2 hrs. Away & Carmel is our fav' get-a-way! We stayed last night @ The Forest Lodge celebrating our 14th Anniversary :-) EVERYONE who helped us went above and beyond...such wonderful hospitality, very good room rates, ADOREABLE cottage room (our room was the Ocean Ave. room). Super loved the wine & cheese happy hour..hehe, Peggy, the... More

We stayed three nights in The Garrett Loft. Lovely, comfortable bed, charming furnishings, 'open' fire, nice big bathroom.Lovely landscaped gardens & outdoor area. Breakfast disappointing; just a small basket of fruit/yoghurt for a pricey room! I believe there used to be vouchers for a local eatery, which would have been far nicer. An easy chair/sofa by the fireplace would also... More

We arrived in Carmel on a Saturday with no reservations and no real plans. We walked into the Lamp Lighter to see if they had any vacancies, and found that their sister property had a room available. We jumped on it and we're so glad we did! The property is very cute, well landscaped and in a great location. We... More

We had the pleasure of staying at the Forest Lodge, and couldn't have asked for a more pleasant, inviting place to stay while in Camel. We would definitely recommend staying here! Drawing you into the Forest Lodge is its beautiful cottage feel. The rooms are surrounded by wonderful sitting areas, which we enjoyed in the evenings. Being pet friendly is... More

My wife and I recently stayed in the Garrett Loft room and upon entering our first reaction was "Wow"! The room was exquisitely decorated in a beachy/cottage decor and it was immediately clear that the proprietors took great care to get the details right; from the decanter of Port Wine, to the hand distressed shutters, to the stained glass windows,... My wife and I spent three days in Carmel for Valentine's Day and had an amazing time. Forest Lodge is a group of 3 or 4 houses right in the beginning of Ocean Avenue in downtown Carmel, that is associated to Lamplighter Inn a few blocks down. We stayed in the Garret Loft, a spacious two-room suite in the second... More
