Let me begin by saying that I wanted to love this property. We were in the Garret Loft and the architectural detail was fantastic. The nook with the twin bed is amazing, so beautiful and charming. The bathroom has been remodeled with lots of vintage charm. The bathroom was clean and cute. I love the stained glass windows and small... More

We stayed here on several occasions with our 100lbs chocolate lab "puppy" and were always delighted. This is really an "overflow" sister property of the Lamplighter Inn, but we prefer it because of more space between cottages and more robust landscaping (and less concern that our lab may destroy something). The property is in walking distance to many dog-friendly restaurants,... More

We're glad you decided to stay with us again. The landscaping is one aspect of the Forest Lodge that makes it such a nice place to relax. The breakfast offered at the Lamp Lighter definitely has more of a variety than we are able to deliver. I'll speak with the manager in regards to the quantity of food provided in... More

We have just returned from a short visit to Carmel. Traveling with family and dog we had two rooms - Weston and Garden rooms. The Weston was spacious and well appointed with a nice, comfortable king bed. I had read the reviews here about how noise from other rooms carried into the Weston. I dismissed these comments as exaggerations. Wrong!... More

The Forest Lodge has an ideal location in a park-like setting but just feet away from the start of Carmel's Ocean Avenue. These historic cottages are ideal for groups; even the most inexpensive unit has two bedrooms. The rooms are cozy and clean, while the staff is very friendly. The Forest Lodge is a recommended place to stay in Carmel-by-the-Sea!

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. The park-like setting is one of my favorite aspects of the Forest Lodge. The woodsy feel makes it hard to believe you're so close to downtown. We're happy to hear you enjoyed your time at the lodge and we appreciate the recommendation. -Maddy and Staff More

My wife and I had a wonderful stay in Carmel. The Einstein cottage at Forest Lodge was comfortable and cozy. We loved the location with a one block walk to shopping and restaurants. The breakfast basket was a welcome touch. We left feeling taken care of and rested. We are coming back! Thanks!

Thanks so much for the review. If you left feeling taken care of and rested then we couldn't hope for more. On your next visit to the Forest Lodge I suggest trying the Ocean Avenue room. The large front window overlooking the courtyard and the cozy feel makes this my favorite room. We're happy you had a wonderful stay in... More

In picking a hotel/inn for our two night stay in Carmel, we had to see which ones accepted dogs. Little did we know what a dog-friendly town Carmel by the Sea is! We were fortunate to pick the Forest Lodge, which is a "corner" (or triangle!) of Carmel, at the top of Ocean Street. We had a lovely suite in... More

My room was clean and comfortable. It fits the Carmel Style I was looking for perfectly. Staff was very helpful and the walk to town is steps away! My family was having a wedding at the beach. It was the perfect place to meet up and get ready. We filled that room for a minute there and instead of complaining... More

We recently returned from our third stay at the Forest Lodge in Carmel, and we simply adore this gorgeous place. Nestled cozily into a stand of mature trees with beautifully landscaped grounds, each room is completely unique, yet equally beautiful, comfortable and inviting. We've stayed in different rooms on each visit, and every time we decide that "this one is... More

We stayed over Thanksgiving in both the Garden & Ocean cottages, which can actually be adjoining.
