My husband and our two standard poodles stayed at the Ocean View Lodge for 3 nights, July 27-30. The apt. is super clean and very large. With a full kitchen, working fireplace and king size bed. The decor is "cottage cosy", which works just fine with dogs. There is a small park behind the lodge where you can walk the dogs for those late night potty breaks. There is no air conditioning, but that is not needed, after all this is Carmel. We used the fireplace every night, and the hearth is cleaned and firewood replaced every day. Our unit had a small ocean view, an unexpected pleasure for us.

Property's Favorite Review
We loved this little hotel! Our room was exactly what we expected. A nice little balcony with a lovely view of the ocean. It was spotlessly clean, mattress was comfortable and there was a little table and chairs to enjoy the picnic basket for breakfast. The pastries were delicious and there was also fruit and juice. We are not big breakfast eaters so it was perfect for us. Check in was a breeze and everything was explained to us. The location was also perfect, just a couple blocks to downtown for the restaurants and a few miles to Point Lobos State Reserve which is a must if in the area! I was having trouble with the wifi in our room and actually could not log on to the site at all. We needed to check in for a flight and Brenda at the desk was more than helpful. She allowed me to check in on their laptop and was extremely gracious. We would definitely stay here again if in the Carmel area and highly recommend this little gem.

This is a perfect place to stay if you’re visiting Carmel! Park your car in the spot provided and walk to everything. They delivered a breakfast basket outside our door each morning due to COVID. Front desk was friendly and really cared about us having a good stay. The room was nice with a comfortable bed and kept clean. I would stay here again and would recommend it to others without any concern!

We stayed in room 204: large, cute outdoor seating surrounded by flowers with ocean view. Clean, very convenient/dog friendly (our German Shepherd was very happy). One bedroom, sleeper sofa, kitchen. I appreciated the desk because I had to work. Walking distance to great restaurants. Peaceful neighborhood. Easy parking. Will stay here again. Great customer service.

We love to visit Carmel and enjoy trying the different boutique inns. We needed a relaxing weekend away and intended to spend a little more time than usual in our room enjoying the view. It was going to be chilly so a fireplace and ocean view were a must. We settled on Horizon Inn. I spoke with someone at the hotel who helped me pick the room best suited. We chose room 120. Check in was very easy. The suite is a nice size. It is laid out in an L shape and has a nice size area with a dresser for changing and laying things out. The gas fireplace is very nice and takes the chill off after spending time in town. The view from the room is nice. There is a little obstruction with the roofs in front of you but it is easily overlooked. Since I don’t have an ocean view from my own living room (the ocean is 6 hours away) I am happy with even an obstructed view. 😊 Walking into town is a nice and easy walk. Breakfast was delivered every morning in a nice picnic basket with a nice variety. They were doing some improvements while we were there. Improvements were being made to the spa area. There are 2 comforts eating areas around a fireplace and a fire pit along with a hot tub. It was not complete yet but will look very good when it is. The only downside we had was that our mattress needed updating and the sheets were not soft. Those are two things they can easily fix to make the stay even better. We did give feedback to the hotel management and they were thankful to hear from us. Our experience overall was very nice.
