Terrible weekend. Arrived with no shower that worked. No maintenance worker to help and filthy tub so no shower for two days. Manager was rude promised a call by owner which never happened and thought giving us 50.00 was going to make us happy. Guess what we like showers not money. Apparently you guessed wrong. Don't waste your time staying...

Kelly M, I'm sorry that you're so unhappy. The shower did work and does work -- you were not able to figure out that to start it you need to pull down the ring around the tub faucet. Just to make sure no one else makes the same mistake, we have put up instructions next to the tub. In fairness,...

Our recent visit to the Carmel Lodge was lovely. It's withing walking distance to many wonderful art galleries, restaurants and shops. The accommodations were very nice but the pool was closed, which was a disappointment for my kids. We were not informed of this prior to our arrival. I found the bed pillows to be too hard for my preference....

Hello, Janahow Liberty! I'm glad you enjoyed Carmel Lodge and thanks for staying with us. The pool has been closed for 2 years and we have not advertised it in that time, but perhaps you saw an earlier visitor's photo? The weather in Carmel is so temperate that we decided that we will turn that area into a landscaped gathering...

We stayed in Carmel one night after attending an event in the area. We were not expecting anything outstanding, and Carmel Lodge met our expectations. We requested a lower level room, and got one next door to the office. It was a bit noisy, but otherwise it was okay. This is an older motel, but efforts have been made to...

Hi, 823nadine! Thanks so much for your recommendation -- we appreciate it. Hope to see you again, and please call us ahead of time and we'll try to find another room for you -- I think you'd like the ground floor rooms in the Premium building. Best, Stephanie

I think before you can call it a premium room, there should be some maintenance performed (tub caulking, paint touch up etc) on a routine basis. Very nice management. I have had to rewrite this review 3x before it was taken - weird.

The location is great for walking Carmel by the Sea! Staff very helpful on recommendations for restaurants and entertainment. Good restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Park the car and go by foot. Hotel is older but in good shape, clean and comfortable. Would stay again.

We booked a cottage but what we got was a suite. It had no feel of a cottage. The restaurant was not functioning. The breakfast was poor. The windows did not have any mosquito mesh and thus could not open the windows in the night.

CarmelLodgeGM, General Manager at Carmel Lodge, responded to this review

Hello, Rahul P, I'm sorry you thought you were renting a cottage building -- we're very careful to always describe that room as a Cottage Suite. Historically, it was a freestanding cottage, but many years ago that building was attached to the larger hotel building, so the word cottage now refers to the decor. It's one of our guests' favorite...

Nice hosts and a clean place but there are some serious issues. Very noisy as a result of thin walls. Noisy in morning and midnights when there are some drunk people in other rooms. No microwave, no coffee maker, no air conditioner, no refrigerator, no bath tub and even the pool is empty. I think they should cut the price...

Hi, Babak G! Thanks for your feedback and for staying with us. For future visits, you might want to book a Premium room -- all of our Premium rooms have coffee-makers, mini-fridges, microwaves, and tub/shower combinations. There are no air-conditioned hotels in Carmel, and when the temperature soars above 70 degrees, we usually just point to the beach! But every...

Let me start by saying if it wasn't for the location I would not rate it a average. I booked through Hotel Tonight for around 100 a night, other nicer options like Carmel mission inn for about 15 dollars more. The location is the main reason I booked Carmel lodge it's located near a ton of restaurants walking distance within...

And our hotel offers other room-types, too -- our Premium rooms might have been better-suited to you as they all have a mini-fridge, microwave, and...

Great weekend in Carmel. The sand in Carmel is so soft, perfect for long walks on the beach barefoot, and Carmel is so close to point lobos, perfect coastal hiking. The water is really cold and ensure enough time for photos along your hikes too :)

Hi, jenkwock! What great tips!!! Point Lobos is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. And I always recommend the same thing to visitors -- allow plenty of time to stop and take photos -- the scenery here is spectacular. Hope to see you again! Take care, Stephanie

Two night stay in this up market motel lodge. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and well appointed. Best of all was the location which is right in the centre of beautiful Carmel. The breakfast coffee, orange juice and pastry were very fresh and tasty.
