Such a lovely little inn right in the middle of Carmel By The Sea. We were greeted warmly, and safely (in this COVID-19 age), and quickly given our room key. The room was very clean, tidy, nice bathroom. The location is absolutely perfect, can walk to everything you need from great restaurants all the way to the gorgeous Carmel By The Sea beach.
Stayed one night. Nice enough room: comfortable and clean. Didn't notice the thin wall issue others had. Parking tight and limited. Parked on the street overnight. Breakfast in a sack bag you pick up at the front. Apples, granola bars, pastries.. nothing fancy. Close to many restaurants and shops. Would stay here again.
It's not cheap staying in Carmel and we were lucky to score a good deal. There was a sale online, when we called the hotel a gentleman gave us a further discount on the same room. This review is for a 1-night stand in one of the smaller king size room that has no private balcony or fireplace. First the positives. The hotel has substantial parking capacity that matches the number of rooms, this can be important when it's at or near full occupancy. There were also plenty of street parking nearby. Our room was relatively clean and furnishings adequately up to date (USP ports and outlets), microwave + fridge + coffee maker. Nice bathroom and walk in shower, good water pressure and piping hot. The king bed was very comfortable, mattress probably medium firm, pillows were plush, large and quite comfy. As for the cons it's not that much different from other hotels: thin walls, no AC but there was ceiling fan. We found 2 small stains on our bedding but no bed bugs. The floor of the shower was a little worn out and stained. Our toilet had strong pressure and can probably suck an alligator down the pipe. Conversely it's also very loud, you can probably hear your neighbors flushing 3 doors down. We had some WIFI issues at the beginning, called and the management fixed the problems. Overall we had a relatively comfy stay at the Clarion, would consider returning in the future.…
The Clarion Hotel is on a quiet, wooded street. It was a bit hard to find, which added to the charm. The hotel is older, but clean, updated and comfortable. In the morning we went out to find the breakfast, and could not. A short time later, there was a knock on our door, and there was a picnic basket with our breakfast. Different, sufficient and charming. Thank you for a nice stay.
We booked this via Priceline as we were driving up the coast and arrived in the later evening hours. There was an envelope on the door with my name and all of our information so we could go on to the room. Not long after, the front desk clerk returned and was very nice. When we told him we would be leaving, he gave us the breakfast basket so that we would already have it in the room before we left. What a nice touch! Although the room was very nice and clean, we were disappointed that the walls seemed paper thin. We could hear the television next door and even the people coughing. It was comfortable and safe. Would stay again.
