We loved our stay. The hotel was lovely and the staff was excellent. It was perfectly located and the courtyard was beautiful. Our room was not large but was nicely appointed and comfortable. We have been plotting how to get back soon to stay at L'Auberge. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere in Carmel.

Dear Elizabeth P, Thank you very much for staying with us at L'Auberge Carmel and for your thoughtful comments! Our central location to downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea as well as Carmel beach makes our property a short walk to everything and not needing a vehicle while in town! We hope that we are able to have the pleasure of welcoming you back... More

Service was wonderful, dinner and breakfast were exquisite. Rooms are noisy and run down. We've stayed at many Relais & Chateaux properties around the world and this one is not up to their standards. We love Carmel, but we won't be staying here again.

Dear SBCDCPA, Thank you very much for staying with at L'Auberge Carmel. Though your comments about our service was much appreciated, I am disappointed that we clearly did not meet your expectations with our rooms product. I would love to have the opportunity to speak with you over the telephone regarding your whole experience and how I may be able... More

Maybe one of the worst hotels we've ever stayed at !! Only saving factor was the staff was great .. Service fabulous! Hotel itself is very very sad .. Worn out ! Needs redo ASAP .. Our room was $450 for a , small queen , shower & 1950 carpeting! Plus $30 service fee .. Know it was holiday weekend... More

Dear local997, Thank you for staying with us at L'Auberge Carmel and providing your feedback regarding your experience. I am thoroughly disappointed that your stay was not up to your expectations. Being a historic 1929 building our rooms are definitely on the smaller spectrum to newer built rooms - this being said I would definitely love to speak with you... More

The service is personalized and exceptional. The location is perfect for restaurants and shopping. The breakfast (included) is great. The special touches like home made caramels and cookies with Milk at night are unique and simply made us smile! There is no a/c which meant leaving the windows open. Fortunately it was typically cool at night, but the street noise... More

Dear hhishome, Thank you for staying with us at L'Auberge Carmel and your thoughtful comments. I very much appreciate your kind comments regarding our staff and our "extra" amenities. We feel that the small touches are what will set up apart at the end of the day. As you mention, Carmel-by-the-Sea typically has a moderate climate all year around with... More

Terrible. Furniture was dirty and scratched. We moved to a different room at 10pm due to a compressed outside our window for the kitchen VERY noisy! Next room was better but furniture still tattered looking and stained. Much to expensive for the low quality. Breakfast was ho hum. Wine walk which was included in our package, great!!!

Dear idanad, Thank you for staying with us at L'Auberge Carmel. I am very disheartened to hear about your experience from the noisy generator, moving rooms, and the sub-standard conditions of our products. We strive to ensure that all of our guests are well taken care of from Reservations to departure and beyond and we clearly missed the mark with... More

We have always stayed at L'Auberge...it's a fine property. The service is splendid and the rooms are charming and clean. It's the A/C we miss. We had to check out early and go find a way to get the temperature to cool on a warmer night. We were told the entire city does not have A/C! Fortunately our San Francisco... More

Dear KenTammyTravel, Thank you very much for staying with us at L'Auberge Carmel! I glad that you had enjoyed our product and service. Sorry we couldn't provide a little cooler weather! As you mention, most hotel around the Monterey Peninsula will not have A/C, mainly due to the more temperate climate here. We look forward to hopefully seeing you again... More

Room was expensive but right off the courtyard so didn't feel terribly private. But service impeccable - couldn't do enough for us. Didn't eat at their gourmet restaurant as we didn't want an 8 course meal - but loved the breakfast included every morning. Great location, also - we walked to all the stores, galleries, etc. Romantic spot.

Overall our stay was unfortunately just ok - I think I was expecting more based on the reputation of the hotel and the price. Starting with the positive: 1) The hotel is centrally located between town and the ocean. Everything is within walking distance. 2) The staff is amazing - from the minute you drive up, someone is there to... More

The room was very small and only the Japanese soaking tub was a plus. We had stayed at Bernardus the night before and we should have stayed for an additional night.
