Originally built in 1948 as an apartment building this is now a 10 room bed and breakfast. The owner actually owned this B & B for years then sold it moved to Japan for 10 years, came back and decided to buy it again. When I made the reservation for my brother-in-laws Julian the owner gave me a tour of... More

Your compliments are heartfelt indeed. One of the greatest joys in my life has been buying the Inn again in 2013 and having the money and time to really make our rooms and gardens worthy of the heritage of 1948 when, as you point out, it was built. Thank you for commenting on our food and wine party. Susan Curtis,... More

This is a very clean, wonderfully charming B&B with a superb staff. Julian was most helpful with the checkin and informative about restaurants and history of the town. Curtis was most helpful with booking and things to do in town and Mary makes the most wonderfully delicious breakfasts and great coffee. We had close encounters with lovely hummingbirds whilst enjoying... More

The three of us, Mary, Curtis and I, are humbled by your praise. The greatest happiness for us, and indeed the entire staff, is to have our efforts appreciated. So many people, whether the staff or the guests, either fail to appreciate effort put forth, or simply forget to say something. So...we all are saying "THANK YOU" as you have... More

Thank you. Your words of praise and appreciation of our efforts are truly meaningful to all of us. As you so rightly point out, the bath rooms in our three Torres rooms are on the list for this winter. We all love Carmel and sharing our experiences of what to do and see are fun for us. I had such a lovely time at the Inn. The succulents are beautiful, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff is friendly. My group took up three rooms, and we all had a wonderful time. I particularly enjoyed the private patios attached to each room. They are a great little place to enjoy a cup of coffee or... More

Thank you for your comments. We loved having your group here. One of the reasons we purchased the Inn two years ago was the terrible cramped living quarters. We could gutted it and put in a lovely dining room and new kitchen and powder room for our wine party and our breakfasts. For groups of friends getting together to enjoy... More

My grandfather has several sayings, one of which comes to my mind as I am reading your review: "Birds of a feather flock together." All our staff genuinely appreciate working here and love interfacing with our guests. Being friendly, then, is a natural thing for us and we attract guests who are interesting, genuinely happy and glad to visit and... More

We stayed in Carmel for one night and after staying at Carmel Garden Inn, I wished we could have stayed longer. There is a beautiful garden and it's in a great location. Our room included a comfortable king bed, private patio and small kitchen/bar area with a table. The weather was hitting record temperatures and there is no air conditioning.... More

The inn is quaint and our room always has a wood burning fireplace. Yes, the rooms are nice, constantly being updated and very clean. As for the staff, extremely friendly and helpful. What helps set them apart is breakfast in the morning and wine & cheese (nice) in the afternoon, all included with your stay. If you have pets, not... More

I love Carmel and stay here every chance I get. It's always a challenge to find a decent place for me and my dogs. I was surprised this inn came up in my search because I have never ever seen it before. I was lucky to get a king room with a private patio (Lavendar Room). The room was so... More

Only spent one night in this lovely B&B, and it was perfect. Clean, quaint, and tended by people that really care. Being gardeners, we loved the succulent gardens which added to the ambience. The room was a nice size, and like everyone else, found the bed amazing. We highly recommend this special B & B.

Dennis, our Innkeeper, is a past president of the Carmel Orchid Society, a volunteer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and is creating our gardens to be in sync with our drought conditions in California; hence his emphasis on succulents. Our five patio suites have totally new bathrooms from basement to attic. All the patios are freshly painted. Our bistro dining rooms now serves a home made hot item changing each day for breakfast and we have added lemon bars, chocolate chip cookies right from the oven to our wine party.
