We stayed at the Omni La Costa for 5 nights over the holidays in December. For where it's positioned in the market (high-end, luxury resort) it falls way short. This was our second time staying at La Costa but the first since the Omni took it over. When we booked they told us the entire resort (including the rooms) had been renovated. That was a lie. The rooms have not been renovated other than new mattresses and maybe some new or reupholstered furniture. The rooms are dated (like early 2000s). The outside patio furniture had not been cleaned in quite some time (cobwebs, bird droppings, general grime). For what we paid (2 suites (2BR + 3BR) and a room for 10 of us) we could have rented a luxurious house on the beach. The hotel has good amenities (golf, pools) but the service is average at best. They gave us 10 free drink coupons when we checked in that could be used for alcohol at the bar or coffee at the marketplace. But the women running the marketplace came up with every excuse not to honor the coupons (that's for a small coffee but we don't have any small cups so you can't use it; oh it says you can use against any beverage but we don't actually do that). There was a mask mandate clearly stated when you entered the lobby but zero enforcement. There is only one restaurant which was very good and the best part of our stay. They charge $35 or $45 a day (depending on self or valet) for parking plus a resort fee. We had a few housekeeping issues (random sheet left on our dresser, dirty sheets one day, latex glove left on floor another day). When we checked out, management did not even ask how our stay was. Bottom line is for what you are paying here, there are much better options. We won't stay there again.

Hotel's Favorite
This was our 2nd time staying at the La Costa Resort. Our first time had some minor hiccups that mgmt quickly rectified and so we decided to return. Our kids loved the pool and slide in the family pool area. Some of the rooms are older in different bldgs, but overall it was clean and nice. Staff was friendly and helpful and we also rented a cabana for the day. The cabana staff was 5 star and would definitely recommend it since pool area is very busy. If your kids have water toys make sure to keep an eye on it as one of my son’s water toys went missing. Their coffee shop in hotel is quick and you can even order a whole pizza if you’re too lazy to go anywhere for dinner or lunch. Make sure to order ahead of time since it’s a popular idea after the pool when everyone is starving.

Thank you for taking the time to write a TripAdvisor review, and thank you for giving us another chance to "wow" you despite initial hiccups. We're thrilled that the kids loved Splash Landing and that you enjoyed our cabana experience. We'll happily share your feedback with our team and we hope to welcome your family back in the near future.

They do not follow public health guidelines for Covid-19. Not a single valet staff member wore a mask including when they were in your private vehicle. Directly asked that the driver’s wear a mask while driving our car, this was observed once and ignored on 3 other occasions. Housekeeping staff also noted without a masks while in hallways. We stayed on Christmas Eve, during the current omicron surge, which as an Emergency Medicine clinician, I can tell you is very real. If you worry about your health or that of your family, stay elsewhere where basic public health measures are followed and your safety is respected.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We take your observations very seriously and have used the opportunity to re-enforce the importance of wearing masks in all areas of the resort. We hear your concerns and appreciate your heroic contributions in the healthcare field. We sincerely hope for another chance to not only meet but exceed your expectations during a future stay.

This is my second time staying at this property in the last 5 years and not much has changed. From a distance it is so lovely. But, when you get up close, paint is peeling everywhere and carpets are so disgusting. PROS: -serene feel -plenty of room to walk around -great for walkers because you will be walking ~1/2 mile to everything -environmentally responsible -clearly pet friendly since there are dogs everywhere -meeting rooms are pretty nice and meals for meetings are good CONS: -the buildings need a touch up -carpets need to be replaced -rooms are very musty -the beds are so high you have to jump to get in -the shower water pressure and temperature is the worst I have ever experienced -the hairdryer in my room was sticky and covered in glitter -the amount of plug ins in the room is very low and they are in hard to reach spots -the food at the restaurants is not as good as meeting food -rooms are spread all over and it is an extra 1/2 hour+ to get a work out in due to the distance to the one gym

The room smelled musty, the mattress was old with huge pockets from where other guests have slept, and it just felt run down. I was shocked since rooms were $400/night. Not worth the price at all. Nice grounds and spa was excellent though. Rooms just need a refresh.
