Nestled close to attractions like Disney and Lego Land, Grand Pacific Palisades Resort is lauded for its prime location and well-maintained amenities, including a variety of pools. However, some guests have called out issues with room comfort, mentioning thin walls and dated furnishings. The resort's atmosphere, with live music and a spa, is a hit for many, but others find it lacks modernity. While the cleanliness receives commendations, opinions on value and service are mixed, with reports of unexpected fees and inconsistent staff responsiveness.

This visit I stayed in both a 1 bdrm and then in a 2 bdrm unit. Everything seems to have been re-done since my last stay. This resort is a super spot for families as the courtyard pool is really geared for children. There is an adult pool/lounge area outside the side of the complex. Most rooms front the kiddie pool and as such there is a lot of screaming and shouting. Great to see kids having fun but why don't parents ask them to tone it down a bit to be less intrusive to the other guests. Selfishness! When I inquired at the desk about a quieter room they were quick to accommodate and said ALL guests deserve a positive experience.
When getting my parking pass and coupons from the concierge I was asked if I would be interested in a 2 hour sales pitch for $100 which I declined. There wasn't any more pestering about buying. Fair enough. What really struck me was the extent of sanitizing for the pandemic. Remotes were incased in plastic sleeves and rather than trusting the cleanliness of the eating utensils the dishwasher contained all of the silverware and dishes. After running the DW got an adhesive sticker to show that everything was sanitary. The entrance door was also sealed after inspection. Very high standards that all resorts/hotels should adopt.
My only reason for not giving 5 stars is because it is a family spot more so than adult.

We've stayed here several times over the year, but this is the first time since the unit update. We love the 2 bedroom units as they have a view of the ocean and have room for our family of 4 and, with the kids on the sofa bed, we have a spare room for local family to come visit and stay over. The units now have new kitchens (still fully stocked), floors and furniture from the last time we were here. Parking is still conveniently underground, not marring the ocean views and access to the facilities. The lobby now has a bar and the former adult pool is now the 'quiet' pool so you can bring your kids to see the view! Our daughter enjoyed the daily activities, especially making candy sushi. Just a short walk down the hill to Legoland. We look forward to our next visit!

My family and I recently stayed at the property for a week in February for the second straight year, and had an amazing time. The rooms have been fully renovated last year, and we also noticed the lobby was renovated this year and looks great. They added a bar as well, which was nice! From check-in, to the daily activities on property for the kids, to the kind housekeepers, everyone we spoke with was the epitome of hospitality. The location is great, being beside Legoland, and within walking distance to outlets/restaurants, and is only a short drive to the beach. Evening sunsets are spectacular, and we made full use of the pools which were clean and warm at all times. We look forward to hopefully coming back next year to get out of the cold here in the North once again. Amazing resort and keep up the great work!

Even the smallest details were considered in designing this resort. We rented a 1BR King Condo unit for 3 nights with a balcony view of the ocean & awesome sunsets, a separate living room, and a fully supplied kitchen (normal size fridge, not a mini). The super clean room included 2 bathroom showers (1 shower alone, 1 with tub), plenty of towels & hooks, a magnifying mirror, 2 separate sinks both with large vanity area, SOOO quiet you couldn't even hear a pin drop so insulation is amazing. The kitchen was fully functional and had like-new utensils/supplies. The very clean fitness center had many machines, etc to choose from. As we toured the property it was evident that cleaning & customer care are of utmost importance.

We also appreciated the ability to park in their underground, covered garage where many baggage carriers were nearby for our use. and near the elevator.
Check-in was easy peasy and the staff there was very helpful with location information and also explaining the calendar of 'things to do' on the property.

Walking the large property was calming and safe; a real treat was the ability to take a long walk above the Carlsbad Flower Fields which are adjacent to the resort property with full views of the Pacific Ocean.

It doesn't get any better than this for a stay away from home so book it !

Most of the rooms have a great view of the ocean and the flower fields. Just make sure to request the west side rooms locations. Also a quieter place is on the 3rd floor. All rooms have a complete kitchen so cooking is made easy especially with all the needed tools to make it a really fun experience. They offer free shuttle service for rides to the beach, local grocery stores and in case you want to splurge, rides to the best restaurants.
Great adult swimming pool with private veranda's overlooking the beach and a separate location for The Child's Pool area. Full of water slides and many water activities for kids to really have fun. Underground parking too. Call for reservations early as it is always in demand.

Enjoy

The resort is located in what appears to be a business park as you drive up and its right next to Legoland. It is also adjacent to the Carlsbad Flower Fields. If you are fortunate enough, you can see the ocean but you have to look past the fields and other buildings to get the view. The resort is a few minutes away from the beach, but even without a car you can easily get there and Carlsbad Village by resort shuttle.

Check-in was a breeze and the resort is quite expansive so there was a long walk to my room. Parking is underground and you have to pay attention to which elevator your room is closest to for the shortest walk. Since all of the rooms face exterior corridors, I was able to see the kids area and one of the arcades on the way to my room. I had a one bedroom and the accommodations were well appointed; it felt like a home away from home. There was a full kitchen, family room with a sofa bed, ample closet space, ceiling fans, a dining table and a balcony overlooking said Flower Fields. The housekeeping staff pushing carts up & down the walkway was a little noisy for my taste but I sleep in late and it is to be expected.

The pool/hot tub area was located just beyond the lobby and there was a full bar just inside of the lobby. If you are strategic enough, they also have cabanas on a first-come first serve basis. if you are unable to snag a cabana, there appeared to be plenty of lunge chairs around the pool and hot tub area. Conversely, there was not a lot of seating around the fire pits and I'm pretty sure we were shoo'ed away from someone saving seats while we were just trying to take a quick picture.

Overall the price, location, room size, pool/hot tub, amenities and shuttle to the beach make this an easy choice for future stays in the area.

My husband and I visited this resort in mid-August for 5 days. It was easy to find, well located near the beach and freeways, and well maintained with Covid protocols being followed by staff in common areas and lobby. Our unit was nicely appointed and spacious, seemed to be recently updated. Entry door had a seal to confirm no one had entered since it was cleaned. I had asked for a room on a high floor when making the reservation , but was given a first floor room so that was disappointing. The room was near the family pool and we had no children with us, so I was a bit concerned there would be extra noise but it was fine. Our unit overlooked the street so we didn’t use the patio due to noise. There was also some noise from children running in the unit above (reason I requested high floor) but it was infrequent and didn’t disrupt our sleep in the comfortable bed. The hotel is adjacent to Legoland, so one should expect excited children will be present!

We used the adult pool twice, it wasn’t overcrowded and had lanes for laps, many open chaises, a Jacuzzi and a bar. There is a nice view of the ocean from this spot. Parking was underground and plenty of spots available. The restaurant across the parking lot was very busy and food was okay, there are many other nearby restaurants to try as well as a Starbucks just down the hill (can walk to it).

The resort was very nice. The staff were all very friendly. We had a two bedroom unit that we shared with our long time traveling companions . The resort is a 5 to 10 minute drive to the Carlsbad Poinsettia Coaster train station. We used the train to go to San Diego three times. People over 65 can get a round trip ticket with connecting bus/trolley service for 6.00. What a great deal. One other benefit was that there was a Costco 1/2 mile away that had cheaper gas at 3.299 per gallon vs 3.499 and UP at regular gas stations.

Our family’s 4 night stay here was amazing! The family suite overlooking the “quiet” pool provided a great hilltop view of Carlsbad with the ocean in the background which made for beautiful sunsets. The flower fields were being planted for the season around the resort which will be a beautiful addition to the views in the springtime. The resort is located right next to LEGO Land but we did not visit the park on this trip.

The 2 bed 2 bath family suite was perfect for the 5 of us. Beds were all comfy including the pull out couch surprisingly. The kitchen had the necessities for preparing nice dinners which we enjoyed at the large dining table. I also had a couple beers and barbecued next to the pool while the kids swam and played on the playground which was a nice evening. Costco is 2 minutes away and very convenient for prepared meals to cook in the kitchen along with stocking up on drinks and snacks during our stay.

Weather was mid to upper 50’s but the pools were comfortably warm and not over-chlorinated which was nice for the kids. The small water park water was cooler but still fun as the kids would go back and forth from the heated pool. I really liked the fact that the resort has a kids pool and play area separate from the “quiet” pool area which allows for a little quieter adult time by swimming laps for exercise, sitting in the jacuzzi and relaxing in a cabana or around an evening fire. We enjoyed the variety of family activities offered by an enthusiastic and very kid-friendly staff while painting picture frames and enjoying ice cream parties, the resort offered 2 different crafts at different times each day along with an ice cream social or s’mores kit. The gym and sauna were also very nice, equipment was top notch and everything was always very clean.

My wife and I enjoyed a romantic evening listening to an acoustic guitar performance by Kevin James Obrien around an outdoor fire with a few nice locals and resort couples while having drinks from the bar. Kevin plays at the resort every Sunday evening and was genuinely personable as well as a very talented musician which made for a memorable evening, we felt like we were among a group of friends around a campfire chatting between an impressive set of good songs.

The entire staff from front desk to the room maids to grounds maintenance were really friendly and always quick to smile and say hello which makes for a welcoming stay not to mention a great reflection of the resort management. We definitely look forward to staying here during our next visit to the area!

When you arrive there are 2 front desks. One is for timeshare owners, the other is for "hotel" guests. But there is no sign to indicate this. We understood that there would be a washer dryer in the 2 bedroom suite. Nope. The kids pool was very loud and there were also kids in the adult pool uncontrolled making it almost as loud as the kiddie pool.

We are currently in the Orange Tier (Tier 3 - Moderate), with news that the Governor will open up the state completely by June. Disneyland is open, Universal Studios as well. Sea World and San Diego Zoo, too. Admission is still limited at the moment, and I think you need advance reservation. Check their website to be sure. I think San Diego is about 35miles away. It can take 35-45 mins to drive, depending on traffic.
