So casual & relaxed are the main theme. There are steps ( a great deal of steps) so if you have a mobility impairment Carlsbad is not for you. The rooms are large and comfortable. A great shopping bag breakfast was provided due to COVID-19, but it was perfect and yummy. The staff is great especially the beach/pool attendants. There are beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, towels and sand toys so no extra equipment needed maybe a lightweight cooler. The beach is mostly families and locals and it is clean and well maintained You can walk into the village to enjoy some excellent restaurants There is plenty of included parking and you really have no need to move your car. This particular visit was to celebrate Valentine's day with a "Special Someone," and staying at the Beach Terrace made a REALLY GREAT impression. The service is great, the rooms are immaculate, and the view from our balcony was breathtaking. The free breakfast was barely better than nothing. The room service breakfast was highly specialized and usual for someone with a more straightforward taste, and other than that disappointment, the rooms were comfortable. I would advise being aware that you could potentially have three flights of stairs to go up and down from your room to the lobby if you are staying in a beachfront room.

Wonderful stay at Beach Terrace. Beautiful facility and great staff. On the beach, close to restaurants, shopping and everything you could need. Perfect weekend get away for a girls weekend. Wouldn’t have changed a thing!

The location is great and the rooms are nice, but for the price they charge, I was expecting a lot more. There is no alcohol served there, so you had to bring it in from outside. The rollaway cot that they charged an extra $40/night for was maybe the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on and then they charge an additional $40/night for "amenities" which includes beach chairs and gross, broken, dirty beach toys for kids. If I knew I was going to be charged for those, I would've happily brought my own rather than pay extra for subpar "amenities." Also, on the day of our check out, we cleared out the room and asked if we could stay to use the beach and pool for a few hours more (kids didn't want to go home yet), where we would've happily spent more money at the resort on food, etc, but was told that they could only let us stay an extra hour. Have never heard of a hotel doing that. Staff was hit or miss, some were very nice, others didn't seem all that interested in helping out in anyway. …

It was our second stay at this property. The staff was very friendly, and the beach access was great. The rooms are nicely situated with lots of space, and I love that they are all tile floors. Lots of beach toys, boogie boards and seats. Room was clean and perfect for our week stay. They lay out blankets in the evening on the deck chairs and the handful of fire pits add to the ambiance. I also loved the surf robes, it made sitting on the patio in the morning nice. There were a few negatives with this stay in my opinion. They have removed the continental breakfast and now have a "complementary petit breakfast" which is a choice of the same danish every day and piece of fruit. This was one of the perks that drew me to the hotel the first time and was amazing. They have also removed the hot tub. I can imagine it was a nightmare to keep clean but was something I had been looking forward to as I knew it was going to be a rainy week.…

I almost don’t want to share this little gem….. but I will… it’s Heaven on Earth! I always cry the night before leaving. My husband and I have our routines… he cycles along the beach and I park myself by the pool from sun up to sun down.

Absolutely amazing place to vacation. From check in to check out every member of the staff said hello, smiled, helped however they could and were so wonderful. We were upgraded for free and had the most beautiful view of the ocean from our room. Everything was spotless in the room and on the grounds and every detail was thought through. Loved the breakfast each morning - so convenient. Bed was so comfortable and alll the linens were crisp and clean. Each day our room was picked up and looked beautiful when we returned. Absolutely loved being able to walk straight onto the beach with chairs and umbrellas waiting for us. It was a LUXURY!! Already looking forward to our next stay here. I think it will become an annual trip. Can’t say one bad thing about this place or the amazing staff! …
