This was our fourth stay at the Pelican Cove Inn and although previous stays were delightful, this one proved better than ever. Not only were we warmly greeted by Nancy as usual (with fresh baked chunky cookies loaded with craisins and nuts) but the entire tone was so solicitous and considerate of the COVID19 situation, masks, gloves, and continual, conscientious sanitizing of hand-contact surfaces, that I almost felt safer and more protected at the Inn than in my own home.
The courteous mode was readily donned by other guests who all gave generous social distancing zones to each other. The layout of the garden and rooftop decks make it easy to enjoy the environment while extending privacy to others. Plenty of nooks and corners to settle with a book, a drink or a game (provided and sanitized by the hostess). Scrabble and dominos seemed to dominate but I noted a chess set in the lobby.
The Inn is only two and a half blocks from the oceanside walking/biking trails and we rode to Leucadia on our own bikes which we brought along. Lots of people out getting exercise and sunshine while maintaining distance. Starting this week masks will be required for everyone out in public.
This Inn has many repeat visitors for good reason, I highly recommend it!

This is a lovely B&B tucked back a couple blocks from the ocean and a short walk to Carlsbad Village. About a 5 block walk to the Coaster train that will take you directly to Old Town San Diego for a mere $6.50 return (that is the senior rate).

The owner, Nancy, warmly welcomed us and she was a pleasure to chat with throughout our stay. Very knowledgeable about the area, and we appreciated her advice regarding taking the Coaster train, etc.

We reserved the Capistrano suite. It was lovely and very clean. Feather bedding was wonderful and such a luxury! Everything in the room was in very good repair. Parking was onsite and off the street.

Breakfast each day was delicious, plentiful and artfully presented on the plate like a picture from a gourmet restaurant.

I have no hesitation in recommending this B&B!

Nancy is a wonderful host and a great cook! We stayed here for two weeks while visiting family and seeing the sights. Our room, the Capistrano, was spacious, clean, and comfortable.

With two small children in tow, we loved the beach toys, the wagon, chairs, umbrellas, and towels for beach days. There is a warm outdoor shower in the garden to wash off the sand, which the kids went crazy for. The breakfasts were always delicious, decadent, beautifully plated, and just the right amount. Nancy provided sippy cups for breakfast and delighted the kids with extra fruit when requested. Our favorites were the strata and the blueberry cheese blintz. We enjoyed most of them in the garden, but also in our room and lobby.

The utility room has a refrigerator, iron and board, and sink. During our stay, we observed other guests were mostly older couples who seemed to be repeat guests. We never had trouble finding parking in the Inn's lot, though the spaces are a little tight.

Our stay was really wonderful and we would not hesitate to return. Thank you, Nancy!

Relaxing.
This is a nice quiet facility, everyone sleeps with the windows open and its super quiet. Tori the property manager is very accommodating and offers great insight to local eateries.
We parked our car and didn’t use it again until leaving. There is no more breakfast, but there is tea and coffee in the AM. Rooms are just like the pics, feels like staying at a grandmas house. The feather beds take it out of you, I barely would lay down and fall asleep. There is a community room that offers beach towels, a microwave, and fridge. Bonus boogi boards, beach chairs, and sun umbrellas all loaned out as needed.

My daughter and her fiance booked the entire Inn almost a year ago for their wedding guests. Wedding is next week. My family had 6 of the rooms. In May an email was sent stating they had new owners and all reservations would be honored. They also announced that breakfast was not longer part of the service. After several unanswered phone calls and emails I was told that the room prices had increased and the owners would not honor the prices for which we had confirmation. Some of our rooms increased by 200%! Couple this with the lack of customer service no one should go here. We scrambled to find other rooms for our large group.

Avoid! We reserved rooms for 30 people at this BnB over a year ago and told that even though there were new owners the original price would be honored. Three weeks before the wedding an email was sent out telling the entire group the cost would be almost three times what the original cost was and the new owners were unwilling to change their mind or find any flexibility. Unfortunately, just weeks before the wedding we are left try to find rooms for everyone because the new owners have decided to price gouge. Seemed like a beautiful place to stay if it wasn’t for the new owners.

I echo the thoughts of the reviews from Michigoose (June 24) and David N (Jun 13). We too had made a reservation many months ago, before ownership changed hands (for the worse), to celebrate our anniversary in this area. The reviews were excellent and the property looked lovely. Then, a few weeks before our arrival, we got an email with the subject “Exciting News” informing us about the change in ownership. I quote from the email “The new ownership will be honoring all existing reservations. Full breakfast will be discontinued. This will give you all an opportunity to explore the great breakfast places we have within walking distance.” They decided to discontinue the breakfast, and the spin, which costs us an estimated $30 per day, is that it offers us the opportunity to explore the great breakfast places in the area. Not being happy about it, we messaged them that when we made the reservation breakfast was included, and asked if they were willing to make some accommodation for those of us who had prior reservations. Got a prompt response saying, no, there will be no adjustment/accommodation, and if this didn’t suit us, we could cancel. Much as we would have loved to cancel, because the tone of the email was unpleasant, we had little choice but to stick it out, given that nothing was available, three weeks prior to our arrival in mid-June. Unlike Michigoose and David N, we were fortunate, as they didn’t change our room rate. That said, the Inn was deserted during our stay.

We stayed three nights and really enjoyed our stay. We were initially surprised to discover opon our arrival that this was no longer a bed and breakfast. The Inn had changed hands between when we booked and when we arrived. The delicous breakfasts described in the online blog is no longer served.

We got over our initial disappointment though as we had a lovely, very spacious room with lots of natural light, comfortable seating and a gas fireplace. The Inn is located on a residential street which is very quiet. Great location a couple blocks from the beach and from Carlsbad Village with lots of restaurants and shops.

The manager, Tori was very responsive via text during our stay. She recommended a great seafood restaurant within walking distance the first night, the Bluewater Grill. We enjoyed a delicious dinner there sitting outside. Later when we reported a burned out light bulb, Austin helped us within minutes. He even removed his shoes respectfully before entering the room!

We hope to stay here again. It was an overall great experience more in line with a VRBO expectation where you have contactless check in but the convenience of the manager being readily available if needed. Thanks Tori and Austin!

We loved this place! It’s a short walk to the village, the beach, restaurants, and parking was easy. Breakfasts were AmAziNg! Nancy is an encyclopedia of knowledge for recommendations. We loved the warm brownies straight out of the oven in the afternoon as well. We’d definitely recommend and we’d definitely stay here again. Room was clean and she adhered to COVID-19 standards. Great value for the money!

We just returned from a two day visit to Carlsbad .
We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before,
so we weren't sure what to expect..Nancy the owner
Greeted us when we arrived and showed us to our room,
Which was ready early. She let us know when we could
Come down for breakfast and said if we needed anything
To just let her know. We stayed in the La Jolla room, it
Was a good size with lots of windows and a fireplace.
This room was on the second floor, no elevator, so if
Stairs are an issue the rooms downstairs also looked
Nice. We really enjoyed our room, it was very quiet.
Now for the breakfast..they were great!!! We ate in the
Parlor area, because it was chilly outside, but there is
Also a garden area that looked nice for warmer days.
The breakfast is different every day, and she will meet
Any diet restrictions you might have..to add to this lovely
Experience is her little rescue dog, Buddy. Really cute
And plays with his toys while you eat and talk with other
Guests..needless to say we really enjoyed tbe Inn and
Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Who wants to cook on vacation! But for maybe cold cuts and bread or leftovers, they actually have a common refrigerator detached from the rooms in an alcove nearby.

Hello! The washer, dryer and refrigerator is no problem. Those are accessible to you. A microwave would not be. Hope this helps. :)
