Stayed here from April 29th through May 1st for a quick weekend getaway with the kids aged 4 and 8. Overall a pleasant visit with more pros than cons. Pro: Great location to Legoland, outlets, freeway, gas station. Nice comfy bed, loved the fridge, microwave, wifi signal was decent, breakfast option was good too as they served pastries, eggs, potatoes, waffles, oatmeal, fruit etc. Pool was unheated but jacuzzi was available. Lots of parking as restaurant next door was closed. Receptionists were helpful and courteous. Cons: Although bathroom was clean, room wasn't thoroughly clean. Under the bed were candy wrappers, peanuts and small trash. Also the water from the fountains/dining/reception area just didn't taste right as I don't know what type of filter they used. This just left a weird aftertaste. Overall, the price we paid justified the cons and we know what to expect next time. We would totally stay here again as it was more pleasant than upsetting.

Would give no stars if yelp allowed it. This has been our regular spring break hotel spot for the last 4 years. Never coming back again. Checked in and the room had a flimsy dirty showerhead with gunk on it, dirty vents, broken outlet, non-working tv, broken deadbolt.. that’s just the beginning! We were on the 3rd floor where all the rooms had dirty trash outside their doors (diapers and food) and there was a empty 13 gallon trashbag stinking up the ice machine. They moved us to a different room the next day, same thing, dirty trash out in the halls, they put us in a ADA compliant room (why?? 1 adult and 2 kids), this one had a bathroom sink that didn’t drain, a shower with no water pressure (the pressure at the outdoor shower by the pool had better pressure), oh and I had to make the beds for us because, guess what?! they didn’t bother with fitted sheets so when my kids moved around, all the sheets came out! Also, I believe pre-pandemic, they started charging $100 on your card for “incidentals” plus a “amenities fee”. Well, owner of West Inn and Suites, if you’re going to charge an “amenities fee” you should have your pool heated like it says it is on your website. False advertising, really bad breakfast, poor service (Mon a.m. manager was beyond rude) and neglect all over the property, even the restrooms by check in were disgusting and outdated. Posting this on trip advisor, expedia, travelocity and hotels.com for all the non-yelpers. I wish I could get a damn refund for our stay. What a horrible vacation.

I love this hotel. It feels like my little secret hideaway every time I visit family in San Diego. Quaintly tucked into a quite little pocket of the Carlsbad coast. It’s convenience is overshadowed by its finely appointed common areas and genuinely friendly staff. Rooms are always clean and stocked with better than standard linens. Don’t let the Legoland/freeway adjacent location question it’s quietness or caliber. Refrigerator in room. Great breakfast. A true value.

The hotel staff were all very accommodating. My room was very nice and comfortable. The hotel location right off the highway was very convenient. This hotel was also within walking distance to the beach. Cookies and Milk at 8pm was also a very welcome surprise.

This is my very first time in the city of Carlsbad and I wanted to stay somewhere comfortable and a walk away from the beach. West Inn and Suites was the best choice I've ever made. Their customer service was very excellent and by far the best hospitality possible. Elisabeth one of the front desk agents specifically always made every accommodation possible happen for me and did above and beyond. Even when she handed out cookies she always took her time to converse with me and my family. They made me feel very welcomed. I was also impressed with how my room was exceptionally clean and cold. The beds are amazingly comfortable as well! Honestly the best sleep ever! The breakfast is also amazing they had a variety of options to choose from. West Inn is truly a wholesome hotel. Anyone should stay here who wants to feel at home.

The exterior and lobby are lovely. The restaurant is closed. We booked a king suite and when we arrived the room was dark and dated. In my opinion, the room smelled faintly of urine. The television didn’t work initially and someone had to come to fix it-they did so promptly. There was peeling paint and crooked appliances. As we attempted to pull out the sofa it got stuck, when my spouse attempted again from another angle he walked around the couch where he was impaled with a large shard of glass and immediately began bleeding everywhere. It wasn’t our glass, it had been there before and there were several more pieces around the carpet. We made the front desk aware and they sent someone up to vacuum. The staff found more glass, just sitting there on the carpet. It’s just luck that my spouse stepped on it and not one of our kids. The front desk informed us that they made management (perhaps ownership) aware. The next day we left early for a day at Legoland-the hotel is very close to the park, it’s a great location relative to Legoland. After a long day, one that was quite painful for my spouse who was walking around on a bleeding puncture wound), we returned to the hotel around 6pm to a room that had not been serviced at all. We needed towels (the glass incident rendered some unusable) and soap and garbage removal but housekeeping hadn’t come. When we called down there were several rooms still ahead of us. It was frustrating after a long day when we just wanted to rest. I will note that the West Inn made some amends for the incident with the glass. While appreciated, it still should never have happened (it’s a family friendly hotel and there was a dangerous situation in the room). I wouldn’t stay here again.

Excellent customer service and a very nice property. It is a tad outside of Carlsbad proper though, so just as long as you know that before you book. You can walk to the beach, but it is a little far, especially if you were to take an umbrella, chairs, etc. You really can't walk to Carlsbad Village, it is a bit too far. There isn't too much around there either in terms of food, just a gas station with a quick mart next door so plan on driving as needed. But otherwise, the property is very nice. Large rooms, great customer service, a nice large pool. They had a breakfast buffet that looked like it had just opened back up in light of Covid.

I have visited West Inn Suites in the past and obviously expected top notch customer service as usual. Upon entering i was immediately greeted by Front desk manager Eddie and welcomed warmly. He went ahead and went through all the amenities, explained the parking tag, even recommended restaurants around the area . I have never been disappointed staying here and always tell friends and family to check it out. I will continue to visit this hotel and Eddie whenever I'm in the area. Keep up the great job !!!!!

I just left from the West Inn and I have to say this is one of the best hotels to stay at. I always come back to them for their hospitality and great customer service as well as those comfy beds! My suggestion to you all, book with them not just any website to avoid having to deal with any issues that come up. If you do like affordable prices go for it but be prepared to deal with the website not them. Some Karen’s don’t understand that apparently. I literally sat and waited a good hour or two watching a lady complain because she had incorrectly done her reservation wrong and wanted to blame them. Anyways, Eddie (the hotel manager) you were such a delight thank you for always making my stay amazing at the West Inn!

There was an error when booking my room. I am not sure if it was my error from the confusing website or the computer system. When I called they showed zero sympathy. They basically told me I lied indirectly. I explained that I had children that were planning on this vacation for weeks and explained what I went through to book the trip as a Mother of 4. The office manager didn't care. He said sorry is all I can do is book you a room at todays rate(much higher than what I paid). Also, came to realize they advertise a room that sleeps 5(this is a room with a king bed and sofa pullout). Definitely not sure how 5 people can sleep comfortably in a room that size. Very unfortunate to have this experience with a hotel I would have came back to yearly and referred friends and family to stay.
