Perfect for family stays. The pool areas are beautiful and there are 3 hot tubs, a steam room, ping pong, a pool table, s’mores nights, etc. Fluffy, comfortable bed, huge bathroom, yoga classes and more. There are Tesla chargers at each building and laundry rooms you can use. The lobby/restaurant area has great atmosphere and a curtain of lights that is really pretty at night. Great place to get coffee and breakfast items in the morning too. We tried the restaurant happy hour because my teen son got hungry earlier than expected, The food and charcuterie board were good but the waiter was a bit unfriendly, which was kind of surprising because everyone else has been so welcoming. We will definitely come back here, there is so much to do in the area, plus the beach is so beautiful, and this is the perfect place to come back to afterwards.

These villas are exceptionally well-designed, so that even when the resort is near capacity, as it was when we were there, you experience privacy, unless you decide you want to mingle at the clubhouse.

But the most amazing thing about the design is how incredibly comfortable the beds are, with climate control to die for. (At the 4 Seasons Residence Club in Scottsdale, for example, you can't go below 67. I gave them what-for on Trip Advisor. You pay those rates, you should be the king of the castle, master of your domain.)

The facilities are immaculately maintained and (over)staffed with millennials who were clearly trained in niceness.

As a result, we were delighted to stay on campus the entire week except for trips to the Encinitas Farmers Market (great) and then the Carlsbad one later in the week (good) and of course Torrey Pines.

Everything was a total hit this time. If i could offer one improvement, it would be that the tupperware needs to have tops. We looked everywhere for them but there were far more bowls than tops to seal them with.

Dear Four Seasons Guest, Thank you so much for taking the time to share with other travelers your experience at Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara. We loved the comment "millennials who were clearly trained in niceness." They are all terrific individuals and are truly warm and caring. The tupperware tops are located below the wine rack in each villa. You enjoyed the beds in the villas. They are also available for purchase should you need a new bed in the future. We look forward to welcoming you back the next time your travels bring you to San Diego. Best Regards, Melissa Sims Resort Manager

We come here every year, and have always found the facilities to be very beautiful, luxurious, well maintained, and the service is exceptional. We love the location, next to the Batiquitos Lagoon with a lovely footpath. Masks were required, temperature was checked each time you enter the clubhouse or pool area. Screening questions. All much appreciated. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is that even though not allowed inside the buildings, smoking is allowed on the balcony of each unit. Since sitting out on the balcony at such a beautiful location is a great pleasure, we could wish that this could be a smoke-free property like the Marriott. I suggested to the management that at least once notification is given that someone is having an issue with the cigarette smoke, that the smoker be notified and asked if they would mind smoking at a designated smoking area that would be located well away from the units.

We have now stayed at the four season Aviara 5 times, coming back each time because of the comfort of the rooms and the incredible service. This last trip we stayed over thanksgiving and was treated with a pie and ice cream in our fridge. Upon arrival they had stocked our room with dog amenities and an arrival treat. Every request was met kindly and quickly. They are very covid conscious and we felt safe and very much at home. Our one issue was when we had friends visit us at the hotel and ordered door dash by the pool, we had to leave the pool area to eat. There were various tables etc in the pool area, nothing on the grounds so we had to shuffle everyone up to our room. I understand these are the rules, but I felt they could have accommodated in the area far away from the pool where there was the only seating on the property. Still the best place in the area and the four seasons brand continues to impress.

I left my jacket in my room at the Summits. I was at the Meadows and had already called the Uber. Christian got on it right away and as a result the jacket arrived very shortly atter the Uber did. He had help from his friends whose names I didn't catch.

The issues are really more about the management. First, someone had the bright idea of swapping out the packaged amenities (including the bar soap) for the pumped versions. Besides being cheaper stuff, the pumps don't fit in the showers and – this is prety basic when it comes to pumps – they don't pump. You need to pump about 8 times to get any reasonable amount of shampoo etc.

Also, for the second time in our last 4 visits, they picked our exact week to close the Summits pool. Once, I understand. It would be bad luck and occasionally you have to close a pool for maintenance/upgrades Twice in 4 visits, you need to make it good with a credit that we can then use to finance the day rate at the Hyatt next door. The Meadows pool is a long way from the Summits. But they were having none of it despite many complaints.

But the other stuff was good. The staff is of course exceptionally well-trained in guest relations, the rooms, though getting a bit tired, are still very private, well-appointed, soundproofed and extremely well climate-controlled. And Seasons has finally gotten its act together to be an excellent restaurant.

We somehow got the worst room in the whole place, allegedly becasue we requested it (we didn't) so note the room choice thing below.

Dear Guest, We appreciate you sharing your suggestions and concerns with us about your recent stay at Aviara. Thank you for acknowledging Christian's good work in retrieving your jacket. We have shared your kind words with him. I would like to elaborate on the bathroom amenities. Four Seasons as a company is removing single plastics from our properties in an effort to help the planet. The bath amenities have been replaced by a lovely line from France. We are continuing to assess the pump bottles to ensure the product is easily assessible. We sincerely apologize for your being inconvenienced by the Summit pool deck resurfacing. There are many factors such as cost, labor, and property occupancy that are brought into consideration when selecting the right time of year to do this work. As always we appreciate your feedback. We do hope you will join us again the next time your travels bring you to the San Diego area. Most Sincerely, Dora Joyner Director of Residences

This resort was amazing. My wife and I had a fantastic time staying here. The staff was very accommodating and willing to bend over backwards to make our stay the best it could be. We were in town for our nieces wedding and she ended up using our villa for bridal pictures! Thank you, we will stay here again for sure!

Seemed or sounded like a great place for a short stay but when we checked into our room it was fairly average. Kinda small, average furnishings, no water or snacks or really anything that makes a resort special, or make your feel special.

Worse was the room we first got backed to a busy and noisy street with the only view of any kind, some power poles and lines. In fact, I believe that's the case for several of the buildings at the "resort".

After complaining they did move us to a different and much better location room, but that of course coming back to pack-up, pick-up, and move.

Also, the highly touted restaurant served a rare (purple inside) steak sandwich, and a really tasty soup, but with no bread or crackers. When my wife asked for some bread, it took some 15+ minutes, soup was mostly gone and cold, it was burnt, and they charged $5.

On the bright side, the staff was very warm, helpful and friendly, the bed was very comfortable, and the very close (5 minutes) expensive golf course was outstanding.....best in san Diego area.

Where to start there is too much!

Outdated, dirty, worn down Hotel.

Ok but it is going to be great because of the Four Seasons service.... Wait its terrible service also!

It seems that Four season gave up on this property when they lost the hotel to Park Hyatt, which is 100% a better place to stay, I would literally stay anywhere else. The Employees and Management problems are awful, we encountered so many problems and I attribute most of the problems to the current leadership and Management team.

We called down for turn down service, no one showed up. we called and asked for someone to at least come take the trash out of the room, they came 16hrs later in the morning and took it. Do you want a nice dinner... they slap the food down and then forget about you. no drink refills, never asked how our food was. its just terrible service from a luxury brand. I could go on and on...

The rooms are so old and warn down. the carpet is disgusting, the furniture is all torn up, scratched and just tired. the faucet handles in the bathroom and bar fell off. The walls are paper thin and you can hear every word your neighbors are saying. The hotel needed to be updated over a decade ago! The Best Western Plus Beach View Lodge has more modern rooms.

They talk a good game and act all innocent on bad reviews, but reality is they could care less. The owners should come together to remove Four Seasons management much like the hotel did and replacing them with the likes of Ritz Carlton management. I feel bad for the owners here, they got screwed.

I stayed here this past week in September by somewhat of a fluke actually. I had an Interval Intl timeshare exchange and was just browsing to see what might be available. This Four Seasons rarely comes up but I think a cancellation might bring it up for exchange. I stayed in a One Bedroom with full kitchen. It was located on Osprey Terrace, a part of the Summit residences I think. It was on the top floor, an end unit. Upon entering I was impressed with the cleanliness and spaciousness. I think it has been well maintained even though it might be ten years or so since any renovation was made. I have read some very bad reviews here complaining about cleanliness, worn out furniture and other things, so I was a little worried. But I was pleasantly surprised. Also someone complained of smells, and bugs, and gnats. I had none of that. The closest pool, of which there are two, was down a flight of stairs. It was also well maintained and the crew there was pleasant and attentive. Maybe the only drawback was that the kitchen was closed and food had to be brought up from the restaurant. So it was a 30-45 minute wait for that. I wasn't in a hurry so it was fine. They said they could shuttle you to anywhere on the property. The other drawback may be the $40 daily Resort fee which in my opinion pays for the parking (I had a car). It also covers other things which in my opinion shouldn't have to be extras for this or any high end resort. At least they might consider some sort of food/beverage credit. It's a lovely setting in the hills of San Diego area. Easy access to freeways. Less than ten minutes to a grocery store. About 15 minutes to Carlsbad Village for restaurants. They have daily housekeeping, mostly just a "tidy" and one day if you stay for a week of complete changing of sheets and towels. Since I'm by myself it was a bit much, but most would appreciate it I'm sure. Overall I had a great stay.

Have been coming here since it was built in the late 90’s. This property is a delight—well-maintained landscaping, golf course views, every detail pleases the eye. The villas are beautifully appointed and comfortable. The staff is gracious and professional. The pool chair upholstery is thick and comfy, so we could lounge all afternoon. COVID has brought some restrictions to the experience, but you wouldn’t know it.

Hello. Is there fishing near the hotel? I see a lagoon ... on the golf course area ??
Answer from Hani Kirollos
Greetings from Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara! The Batiquitos Lagoon nearby is a protected reserve and does not allow fishing. The nearby lake, ocean and pier fishing requires a permit from the California Fish & Game. More information can be found at the California Department of Fish and Wildlife website. We hope this helps!
