The location is perfect. It is walking distance to the beach and Village of Carlsbad. There are a lot of amenities- small kitchen and coffee in the room, pool, hot tub, fire pit, and complimentary breakfast with a coffee machine in the lobby. Ruger and Lori were helpful and the check in/out was quick. My friends and I are already planning our return trip next year.
I spent five days here and didn't want to leave. This place has a great vibe, with friendly, courteous, extremely helpful staff. They provide beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, surf boards, and unlimited information about the area and its attractions. Delicious, fresh-ground coffee and endless tea are constantly available in the lobby, with a basic but good daily continental breakfast of fruit, yoghurt (it's vegetarian! yay!), bagels, cream cheese, pastries, and juices. The resort is a perfect location with a very short walk to the beach, though the stairs back up can be brutal in the heat. Sunsets are spectacular. The pool and hot tub are scrupulously clean, and the outdoor shower at the parking lot entrance is convenient for washing off the beach sand. The tropical gardens are beautiful and lush and give a feeling of idyllic Hawaii. There's a courtyard with tables for outdoor dining any time, and I loved the fire pits and tiki torches at night, where people sat around and talked over a glass of wine or coffee. It's all quiet and private and very relaxing. My kitchenette was perfect and I was most happy to discover Wednesday's farmers market, only three blocks away on State Street, as groceries are a fair trek up Carlsbad Village Drive. The Village Faire, two blocks away, has some interesting and kitschy shops and lots of ethnic restaurants. Likely everything you could possibly need is within walking distance, including the transit station (about three blocks away up Grand Avenue, to the right of the resort). I didn't have a car, but I could see that parking would be an issue anywhere in this area. I loved Carlsbad--such a holiday town, happily very dog-friendly--and would love to visit again. I definitely recommend Ocean Palms. Huge thanks to Eddie, Kenzi, Nicki, Beau, and everyone else for making this a most wonderful, memorable, luxury vacation.…
With its oceanfront location and cool curb appeal Ocean Palms Resort had caught our eye on several occasions when we stopped in Carlsbad on our way to San Diego. With family visiting from Pennsylvania, we decided it would be the perfect place for all of us to stay. My husband, dog, and I were in room 119, and it couldn't have been more perfect! Having a full-size kitchen and bathroom was so convenient, and the rest of the room was very spacious and well-appointed with a king-sized bed, table & two chairs and a comfortable armchair. Our room was spotless, and the Housekeeping staff was so friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and secluded with lots of comfortable seating and firepits. We are already looking forward to our next stay at Ocean Palms!
Beautiful resort in excellent location. Friendly staff, especially Beau at the front desk. We had a multi-generational family reunion, booking 5 units. All were nicely appointed, clean, and comfortable. Loved having kitchens in each unit. Until a freak February winter storm moved in, we were able to eat communal meals outside in beautiful gardens. Many activities close by, especially the beach. The kids also loved the pool and spa. Parents and grandparents enjoyed being able to walk to Carlsbad shops and restaurants. All in all, it was a special time for us and we plan to return!
We got lucky with the Ocean Palms! My wife and I traveled in from Florida and had trusted a friend’s recommendation. I was leery of the place because of the cost of our suite. We paid $225/night. In Florida this room would have easily cost us $400+ a night!!! There is SO much to live about this place. First and foremost is the location. It’s literally across the street from the beach and you can see the Pacific from the second floor. It’s also ONE block from the village which is loaded with amazing shops, bars and restaurants! You could park at the hotel and never touch your car! The property is so lushly landscaped that it makes you feel like you are in Hawaii. I learned that the owners used to own a landscape design company and they used that experience to craft and amazing property! Tiki torches, rare palms, gas fire pits, hand carved tiki totem poles, you name it! So the room. We got one of the suites, which has a pull out couch and full kitchen. Perfect for a small family. But what blew me away was the shower! Absolutely amazing! Many luxury hotels are stepping up their shower game and installing 2 shower heads. Ocean Palms has THREE!!!! Nicest shower I’ve ever been in. But more than anything else, we loved the staff the best! Everyone we interacted with was great! Helpful, caring and you could tell they just wanted you to have an amazing time! Well, mission accomplished and we will be back!…
We highly recommend this resort, the facility is beautiful, the friendly, kind informative very helpful staff made it so inviting. Beau, Kenzie, and Lori made you feel like family. The beach is a short walk across the street, the rooms were very clean, I am a coffee drinker, and the resort had free, coffee, hot fresh all day long. When you walk through the resort, you feel like you’re in another place beautiful tropical island!
The staff (Beau in my case) was professional and helpfull. I also had to interact with the staff previously to change aspects of the reservations and they were also very professional and helpful. I was surprised to find a complete kitchen that was such a pleasant addition that I was not aware of. Directly across the street from a main stairwell to an amazing endless beach...Wow!
We have stayed at the Ocean Palms numerous times over the years both by ourselves and with the whole extended family while we were out to visit our aunt. We always enjoy our time there. The area is so walkable to the Carlsbad Village shops and restaurants. The courtyard of the hotel is very picturesque, the kids love the pool and hot tub area, and the staff (Beau, Lori, Ruger and Kenzie) are always very friendly and helpful. Having a kitchen available during the stay is also nice for simple meals and refrigerated refreshments. We will be back!
We needed a two bedroom hotel room - this resort has some great options - we would highly recommend Ocean Palms to families - beautiful pool and hot tub, amazingly beautiful grounds, one block from the beach, walking distance to great restaurants, laundry facilites, wonderful staff
We had such a wonderful vacation attending a wedding nearby staying at Ocean Palms. We had the 3 bedroom with the hot tub in the lanai. Rooms and facility were clean. Location was great walking to the beach, restaurants and shops. Carlsbad is such a quaint town to walk around. I was pleasantly surprised to get freshly grind Starbucks coffee in the lobby together with the fruits and juices provided by this hotel. Beau was so sweet, friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend to families.
