This hotel was great! Beautiful property, plenty of parking, great service, and the location is just about a 3 min walk to the beach. There's not too many rooms, each a different style, they were almost all empty when I went, so I popped my head in most of them. Very cute, loved the ones with the expansive ocean views, one had a heart shaped theme with a heart shaped tub, very cute for couples. The furnishings and fixtures in all the rooms are older, but very clean and in good condition. Pros: rooms are big, beds are comfortable, furnishings are cute, great water pressure, very nice staff, pretty grounds, nice courtyard fountain, great rooftop patio with ocean view and hot tub (closed due to Covid,) rooms with ocean views actually had expansive ocean views, the other rooms opened up to the walkways or courtyard. Windows opened for fresh air. Walk to the beach was close. Restaurants and a full market in walking distance. Cons: The biggest con to me is that each room opened with a key, much like the front door to a home, but less sturdy. It did not provide much security the way hotels usually do. I felt safe on the grounds in general, but it would be very easy to break into a room. Also, no central A/C, just portable (yet strong) fans in the rooms, leaving shutters open didn't allow any privacy since they opened to the walkways (for the non-ocean view rooms,) and the beach you walk to requires a walk across the camp ground parking lot to get the the staircase that leads to the beach. It was a short walk, but kind of weird walking past all the families and tents. However, if you walk down the street a few blocks, you can easily walk onto a much better portion of the beach, that allows for a long walk down the coast. Overall I highly recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again.

This boutique hotel hits the whole location, location, location thing right out of the park! It’s a block from the Pacific, so you get a healthy dose of sea air, and there are lots of outstanding restaurants and stores within walking distance. The hotel itself has a unique charm, as the lodge was founded and built by a local couple; one was an architect, the other an interior designer. The two of them combined to make a fascinating hotel that holds many a wonder for those who appreciate the art of design. All rooms are different; different shapes, different sizes, different layouts, and different furnishings. I got to see a number of the rooms, as they were being cleaned when we were going to check out. There are fewer than 20 rooms and each one I saw looked really cool! It would be fun to try different rooms on subsequent visits. On the third floor is a sun deck, where you can relax, unwind, and watch the sunset! The people who run the place are terrific! They are patient during booking, or if you have questions before or during your stay. As the place gets sea breezes on almost a constant basis, the exterior appears a little worn in a few spots. But, inside the rooms are charming, comfortable, and well cared for. Prices are reasonable, and I can’t wait to go back!

I celebrated my birthday with a staycation and this property was perfect! From location to its charm, it was the exhale I needed. The staff was friendly and yes, it's not modern by any means but it was clean and very comfortable. This is now on my list for "staycation" places.
