The room was large, clean and comfortable but the decor throughout the lodge is very tired. There is a lovely outdoor area on the roof with sea views. Coffee and tea is available all day in the lobby. The complimentary continental breakfast was very good and a microwave was also available for those who want to make porridge. The staff we met were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
Charming hotel in a beautiful area. Restaurants and market in walking distance. Nice walk to beach and rails to trails bike path. I hope to visit again! I’m excited to see how the renovations turn out.
Older property but clean and the highlight is the location to the beach. The rooftop garden is a nice place to relax but the hot tub is off limits currently. Breakfast is simple but nice before walking around town/to the beach.
Like sleeping in a coffin! This hotel is a disaster…stay away! Our windows didn’t open and the room smelled. The lack of air was torture and when we asked the front desk to be moved for our second night they said no even though there was an open room! Also, there were no blackout curtains and bright safety lights would go on and off waking us up in the night. If that’s not bad enough, when our neighbors got home at midnight they showered and the noise in our room was deafening. Literally torture.
This is a wonderful place in a wonderful location. But it needs updating and renovations. Our room was a bit outdated. Good news! A major overhaul is about to occur and I suspect this place will be fabulous upon completion.
Oh my what a gem. This property captures the essence of S. California with style and grace in a way that the big chains will never will. Beautiful room, lovely and unique (and well maintained) property. Staff were excellent and Anthony guided me into their garage. My advice, ditch your “elite” status at the big chains and treat yourself to a stay here.
Wanted so much to like this place (great location, lots of character), but had to cut our stay short because our room was next to an outdoor bar that blasted music until 1:30 AM and we couldn’t sleep at all. We had two phones pumping out white noise and that still didn’t help. Manager wasn’t helpful at all when we talked about it the next day and claimed that no one had complained about the noise before. No way is that true. Offered us a tiny discount that paled next to what we paid for an upgraded room. Really disappointing experience.
A great find for a small boutique hotel in the Encinitas area. They're about to undergo a renovation, but don't let that stop you as this was still a great setting for a one night stay. We got two rooms and enjoyed a light breakfast in the morning on the patio and enjoyed the rooftop after. There are a couple of small shops in the area walking distance and just a short drive away to Carlsbad, Oceanside or Del Mar areas. Free secure parking on-site was nice to not hassle with. Staff was great and accommodating, can't wait to come back soon and see the improvements to an already great place.
We really enjoyed our family vacation at Cardiff by the sea. Everyone that we met was very helpful and nice. Especially Bob and Andy. We had 2 rooms that each had character and great views. The rooms were clean and the bed's comfortable. The terrace view was also amazing
We usually rent an AirBNB but this was a great little place that we thoroughly enjoyed. Each room has a name and is totally different. The room was very large, had a fireplace as well as a jacuzzi tub. There was a breakfast with coffee, danish as well as yogurt and hardboiled eggs available in the lobby each morning. The management was pleasant and helpful. The top floor of the hotel is an expansive patio that is beautifully landscaped with lots of seating as well as a hot tub. It was one of our favorite places to sit and enjoy the negative ions. We will definetly return to this little paradise.
