This is a quaint little place. It is strategically located in Capitola Village with the beach steps away. It is an older building- where the inside is dated. However, the bed was very comfortable. There are kitchenettes. But NO plates or silverware. They will provide this as an extra charge. We did not stay right close to the beach as that location you won’t have privacy and it’s noisy. The parking is convenient and Free!

Reserved a room a month in advance and they sold our room to another family without letting us know. Not being cooperative or responding. Not happy with the dishonesty of the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel as I'm not a fan of dishonesty

Response from David Bondlow, General Manager at Capitola Venetian Hotel
Responded Jan 25, 2021
Hello, I am the manager here at the Venetian Hotel. I was just made aware of the trouble you experienced when checking in to the hotel this past weekend. I will be speaking with my staff today and get to the bottom of this. There is no excuse for what transpired. This is something that obviously should not have happened under any circumstance, and I would appreciate the opportunity to make this up to you. Please contact me directly at the hotel if you would be interested in allowing me to make your next experience here at the Venetian an exceptional one. Sincerely, David Bondlow 831.476.6471

Capitola is a small beach town about two hours away from me. This would be a mighty expensive establishment for my budget during the summer. But I've learned to schedule my trips in the off season. I went with family for one night in April 2023. These are small housing units complete with kitchens, bathrooms, living area and bedrooms. Bring your own food and have a good time laying on the sand a few steps from your lodging. The unit we rented was a two-bedroom. The check-in was smooth and the front desk staff was friendly. I wanted to support this town, which was heavily affected by the 2022 winter storms. Inside parking, proximity to the beach, location, amenities were all positives. Some units were dated while some looked newly renovated. I wish some units were pet friendly so I can take my dog for my solo trips. I recommend this establishment if your budget allows, and if you prefer housing unit amenities.

Manager who checked me in was very nice and friendly. As cute and quaint as the place is, it's OLD. Walking into my studio (room 127), the front door opens right into the kitchen counter with barely 4 inches to spare. I was aware of what was NOT offered; even though you're paying for a kitchen, there are no plates, bowls, silverware, pots or pans. You have to pay extra for those. The fridge hums and buzzes throughout the night. There was dirt in the tracks of the sliding glass door. The balcony has two chairs, but you have to sit sideways to make room for your legs. The walls are thin; you can hear your neighbors. No lighting bright enough to read by except over the bed. Boxes of shampoo, conditioner and body wash are attached to the shower wall; one was out of conditioner. Two bars of soap, each one thin and no bigger than 1"x3". There were no special amenities in that room at all. It was wonderful to sit in bed and see the ocean, but that was the only perk. Room rate, taxes and fees; total for two nights was $600.00. I will never spend that much money for such a shoddy room again, nor will I ever stay there again.

Spoiler Alert: Dump
You can stay next door at the Capitola Suites for less money and a better view!!!
The Venetian Hotel was on my friend's bucket list.
We booked a balcony and paid extra for a view. We had a beautiful view of a building...the ocean was barely visible, considered "partially obstructed." The dissapointment continued for the length of our stay. The kitchen does not come with utensils or cooking pots, but many signs state you can pay extra to rent them. When we went to check out we were told, "Oh, you should have just asked." We did ask for conditioner/shampoo and extra blankets. Which for $430.00 shows lack of respect for the customer. We also had some preventable negative experiences, such as locating the black out blinds and thermostat. On check out, the desk clerk showed us where they were. Parking is available, and you won't need to move your car, but the lot is small. I had to be super careful manuevering my Ford Edge. (A Prius would be fine.) When we took our complaints to the desk clerk, he asked what he could do to make us happy. My friend stated take $100 off a night. He said he needed to talk to management and would get back to me. (That was a month ago) I did call several times and left my name and number. No return call. I understand that businesses need to make money, and I am willing to pay for quality. However, I feel I have been robbed...of money and time. This stay tainted my entire trip.
I hope you read all the reviews and make a better choice than we did.

The hotel was really outdated and such a big disappointment. The furniture seemed 20 years old and was dirty. The bed was surrounded by three walls, making it very uncomfortable and hard to access the bathroom. The bathroom was super tiny, the shower was moldy and the toilet was in a cramped space. The towels had stains on them and were rough. We got a hotel with a kitchen to be able to cook, but there were no silverware or plates and the stove was outdated. The fridge froze our food. The door had a big crack on it and the cold air came in.

The only good thing about staying here is the location, other than that it is a bad place to stay. The hotel is in desperate need of a big remodel.
Sad a historic hotel is in poor conditions

We had one night at the neighboring beach suites. If I had not stayed there and paid $100 less then i would probably never be writing. Negative review. The beach suites was beautiful, newly appointed rooms, fully stocked kitchen and gorgeous balcony. The venetian was horribly dated all except for the wonderful new bed. The bed was awesome. Everything else....meh. Nothing in the kitchen. And i mean nothing. No coffee, no spoons, no plates. Only paper towel. The furniture in the other parts was old. The location is great but if you can book a room at the beach suites, do it. The Venetian was $100 more and a huge disappointment.

We often thought of staying here. This time we did it! Very clean and well kept grounds, pleasant and helpful office staff. Very close to the downtown shops and restaurants, as well as the pier. When i say close, I'm talking feet and yards. The interior was dated, but well maintained. Only drawback was absolutey NO utensils or dishes whatsoever. However you can "rent" them from the office. We will stay here again.

The room is dated, the mattress is firm an sagging in the middle. The room has a complete kitchen, but don’t even think you can have a meal or leftovers in your room as there are no utensils or dishes. The location is wonderful, but for the price the rooms and amenities are sorely lacking. Sorry, I wanted to love it.

You could not ask for a better location. Staff was very nice and helpful.
It is not a luxury hotel. But, Capitola is not a luxury kind of place. It is a delightful beach town.
My room was vey comfortable, had a balcony with a great view of the beach. The bed was comfortable. Room was spacious. Kitchen was handy. All in all an excellent place to stay.

Hello there! Just letting you know that the multicolored condos are not actually a part of our property. Be sure to visit our website or give us a call to see what we have available for those dates. Thank you!

We do have a parking lot with one space per room. It is kind of a small lot so we can't guarantee a space for extra large vehicles. Usually it's not an issue but if you have one of those extra long SUVs or a giant pick up truck you could possibly have a problem. Regards, Duane

Hi, Thank you for your interest in our hotel. We do have free wifi available in the hotel. We don not have separate TVs in the bedrooms in our rooms except for room 112 which is a large riverfront unit that can sleep up to eight people. Please give us a call or book online if you'd like to reserve. Thanks, Duane
