This is our 2nd year staying here to celebrate our anniversary and it will be our now annual go to destination. The views and garden are amazing and everything is walking distance to shops, beach and restaurants. The staff is also amazing! So glad I found the Monarch Cove Inn! Thank you!!
We stayed in the Lilac Room in Aug 2022 for one night and enjoyed the experience. The inn is an old Victorian house that is split up into a number of rooms. Our room was fairly large with a seating area, full bathroom, armoire for storage, with fridge and microwave. Lots of attention to detail both in the room and in the surrounding grounds. As you are basically in one room of a large house, you can hear your immediate neighbors, but the overall vibe is pretty peaceful and quiet. Continental breakfast delivered to your room was very good.
I stayed in the Monarch Cove Inn three times. First two I chose the Ocean Mist Suite, and the recent one was in the Lilac room. This place makes me feel amazing, relaxed, and reminds me of my childhood's vacation spent at the Dacha (Summer house) on the other side of the Pacific Ocean. The ambience of this place is the best part of the hotel (the House): unique style of Victorian architecture house surrounded by nature, beautiful garden , breathtaking views, very private and cozy. You will fall asleep and wake up with the sound and smell of the ocean. Not every room has an ocean view, but the best are the Ocean Mist, Ocean view and Lilac room. You have to expect that the house is old, built in 1896, and it is not the regular hotel , so all rooms have very thin walls and there are no noise protections . So you should respect your neighbors and expect the same behavior from them. However for me it was kind of irritating the noise of the Muse fountain located next to my room. The beautiful girl is running water ( like a broken toilet) all day and night. It is too loud and covers the beats and breath of the ocean . You can easily take a walk in a neighborhood . The area is very safe and quiet . The sunset views are heartbreaking from the path on all sides of the cliff. I am already missing this place and definitely come back as soon as I can .…
It is so quite and serene. Yet it is only less than a mile away from Capitola beach. Just very steep to go up and down so if you have a hard time walking I would suggest driving. Cottage we stayed at was perfect. It is a older cottage so only had a small queen size bed and hot water was hit or miss. The daily continental b fast and the enclosed back yard for the poochies made up for it. I try not to eat a lot of carbs., but I could not resist. Delicious ….Did not use the kitchen to cook so cannot comment on it. Plenty of parking for guest when we were there. Overall I highly recommend it
Such a beautiful property , had a blast & the walk to the beach was quick & beautiful scenery. Will definitely return . The grounds were beautiful & the neighborhood around was nice , best part it was all walking distance to the beach & shops
Beautiful grounds, friendly staff. Very tranquil and serene. Just what we needed for a quick unplugged get away. A quick trail walk to the town for dinner, a beautiful stroll home at sunset on the beach to end a perfect day.
This is our second visit to the Monarch Cove Inn. We love the location, the beautiful grounds surrounded by nature, lovely rooms with great amenities, delicious breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely return to this charming oasis!
We originally were celebrating in May and one in our party got sick and we had to postpone. Summer worked with me to reschedule with no extra fees. She was amazing. We went in June and our stay was magical. The rooms have been remodeled and they were wonderful. Breakfast is included and was delicious. They bring it to your room.
We always try to stay at the Monarch Cove Inn when visiting Capitola. The location, quaint rooms, beautiful grounds, and breakfast delivered to the room each morning are some of the reasons we choose to stay at this inn. I also love the scent of the towels and sheets. All staff members are welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend the Monarch Cove Inn and hope to return the next time we are in Capitola.
We love Capitola, and go there as often as we can for mini getaways from the Peninsula. We'd not stayed here before, because I hear B&B and think not for us with our teenager and dog - I could not have been more wrong!! Two of the rooms (in a separate cottage) allow dogs, so we booked one for a last minute night away. It was so lovely, with a full kitchen, two bedrooms and an outdoor patio with ocean views. We usually stay downtown, but it was so nice to be in a more serene setting with nature all around. Summer, who works in the office, is an absolute gem. We will be back!!
