Combining aman, the Sanskrit-derived word for 'peace', and kora or 'circular pilgrimage' in Dzongkha, the Bhutanese language, Amankora, is a series of lodges in the Kingdom of Bhutan's central and western valleys. The sole surviving Himalayan Buddhist Kingdom, Bhutan is one of the most remote and pristine environments on earth. To best experience all that Bhutan has to offer, Amankora can tailor journeys that include a combination of its lodges located in the valleys of Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey and Bumthang.

My partner and I took the 6 nights amankora journey (2 nights in each of Thimphu, Punakha and Paro). Aman made all the flights and itinerary arrangements for us. We literally just have to pay and show up. Aman was responsive to my questions through the booking process. The accommodations were consistent with our experience in the other Aman lodge we had stayed with. While I agree with some of the reviews here that commented on the level of finesse of the finishing, my partner and I still think it’s tastefully designed, which has lasted almost two decades since these lodges were first constructed. Their style of design is not the ubiquitous fluorescent or brightly lighted one would find of a five star hotel but rather rustic chic. They lean closer to romantic than functional or multi purposeful. Every time you step away from your room, Aman would surprise you with their signature “ninja service“. It could be cookies, a book, a poem, chocolates, souvenir or even just make up your bed and change your towels. In spite of us being familiar with this signature service of Aman, we still enjoyed the surprise element and looked forward to it each time. You know there is a well connected team that would always know your whereabouts and they would try to anticipate your every needs.

Amankora is just perfect. Everything is perfect: the gorgeous, secluded locations; great food; impeccable design; attention to detail; commitment to sustainability; and most of all the unparalleled service. The design is fabulous, everything is so well thought-out. It feels like you're staying at the well-staffed home of a very gracious host with impeccable taste, who's never at home, so you can do exactly as you please. Examples of the service: -after the first day, they observed my shoe size is on the small side, and placed bedroom slippers in exactly my size (along with a humidifier, which I requested on the first night) on my side of the bed every night, even in the different Aman locations across Bhutan. -The turn-down gifts were unique every night of the trip. Some friends who've been there many times for extended stays have still always gotten unique gifts. -You never actually see them clean your room, but the room is always pristine. -Laundry service is wonderful, everything is returned super fast and neatly hung up. -On treks, they somehow get to the mid-point before you, and surprise you with amazing snacks and tea -Every meal is customized to your preference

We visited Bhutan in December and stayed at the Amankora Paro and Thimphu. The properties were amazing and worked perfectly for our family for four (including two teenagers). The properties are stunning. The service was impeccable, and the guide and driver were awesome. We loved Bhutan and our experiences there. We saw archery (the national sport), paper making, and handicrafts, toured many temples and buildings, had a farm lunch at a Bhutanese house, took a helicopter to Bumdra to see the most amazing monastery and hike to Tiger's Nest, and took a hike to "wow." We also met with a monk to discuss Buddhism. It was a fabulous trip!

Amankora is a luxurious and mesmerizing hotel to visit and cherish. Bhutan Burgoth Tours took the guests to observe and feel the difference where guests are fully satisfied with their service and hospitality.

Our Bhutan trip has come to an end at Amankora Paro. A beautiful place where majority of Bhutan tourists end their amazing experiences here just like us. I felt sad leaving the place as well as parting with our wonderful, amazing tour guide and driver, Ugyen and Pema. We have been so blessed to be paired up with these two loving and caring individuals whose job was mainly to make our experiences an extra ordinary trip. I can’t thank them enough for taking good care of us from the very beginning until the end. Everyday was a joy being with them. Eight days is quite long to be with the same company, yet it felt so short due to their enjoyable company. They were also the main reason why we have made it to the top of Tiger’s Nest. We were pampered to the max to say the least. Their doting and caring nature made our experiences so grand and so unforgettable. Thanks to Aman for sending them our way, it was truly a big blessing to meet these two awesome men without whose help made our trip even more uniquely very special. Ugyen’s history knowledge helped a lot while Pema’s driving experience helped kept us safely home. Pema’s job is very important and he made us very comfortable while sitting in a winding and treacherous road from Thimphu to Gangtey to Punakha and finally to Paro. That was a lot of driving, yet, it was a magnificent and scenic drive. Both men are so attentive and so patient. Anyone can request for them for a tour guide and a driver via Aman. Again, to all the Aman staff in every Aman in Bhutan. You are all the ASSETS behind Aman’s success. Bhutan is such a mystical, magical and beautiful country, but without staying at any Amankora in Bhutan is definitely incomplete. And without its diligent staff, there would be no Amankora. Thank you so much for such a grandeur experience!!! I can’t wait to use Aman again in the near future in Laos and Amanpulo in Palawan. Service at any Aman is simply incomparable.
