Let’s start with the stomach, shall we? The food was insanely good, especially my golden buckwheat breakfast pancakes with pumpkin yogurt. The hotel was located at the top of a long narrow, switchback-ey road, where I held my breath to make our car smaller whenever we met an oncoming vehicle. Chilis drying on the house roofs, dogs and cows wandering aimlessly, and the dusty road combined to make the drive memorable. The hotel, was clean, the staff were smiling, and Uma Paro quickly became a home away from home. Nice gift shop, too!

We just got back from a dream vacation to Bhutan. We stayed at two Como properties and Ghangtey Lodge. They were all wonderful. I enjoyed Como Paro for a number of things - the amazing staff, the wonderful food, the big property with a beautiful view and the firepit in the courtyard. The staff really makes the stay. They were all incredibly accommodating. The hotel was very clean and well appointed. We booked our trip through Como and had an amazing guide and driver throughout our stay. The gym and spa were great and if you like to run outside, the hill leading up to the hotel is a great workout. Thanks to everyone at Como for making it a very memorable location.

We had a wonderful stay at Uma Paro. As in others properties of the chain, the rooms might be simple, but high quality ammenities are there. The property is gorgeous and well kept. The spa offered good service. The butt;er service was helpful. Check-in and out uneventful. Good wi-fi, which was important since we had only phone (but not data) coverage from our mobile provider. Food wad simple, but great.

Man, I don’t really want to write this review. I LOVE this place. It’s my second time to Bhutan and I’ve stayed here both times. And until about 10 minutes ago, I haven’t stopped gushing about this place, the food, the service, the people. It’s amazing. You pay a pretty penny for it, but I knew that going in. Two weeks in Bhutan with Como isn’t something you do often! Reservations are easy, though. You get payment links from them...all you have to do is click the link, click “pay in full”, and plug in your credit card. Voila So, imagine my surprise on check-out when I was told I’d underpaid. That I still owed hundreds of dollars. How is that possible, I asked. Como literally takes the thinking out of the reservation process. I couldn’t have paid anything OTHER than what they told me I needed to pay. It’s actually impossible. Turns out, after 30 minutes of insisting, of showing the receipts and the invoices, that the mistake was on Como’s part. They had put in the wrong price on one of those payment links, and now, to close out my trip on an extremely negative note, they told me I needed to square up their mistake. Sara, the reservationist who made the mistake, came out personally to tell me how much I owed because she’d messed up. All told, the amount she had mistakenly not charged me was 1.5% of my total bill. I’m sorry, but you do NOT haggle with a guest over 1.5% of a total bill when the mistake is yours. I’m fuming. I love Bhutan and want to come back again. And I love this particular hotel. But boy am I leaving with a sour taste in my mouth.

We are a family of five. We stayed for one night (our first night in Bhutan). What an introduction to the country! The manager and his assistant personally came over to welcome us when we checked in and when we checked out. They really couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. As to the hotel itself - it is a beautiful and tastefully designed hotel which meshes into its surroundings without spoiling the ambiance of the spectacular nature of where it is located. The rooms were tastefully decorated. We also had an excellent massage. Our children managed to find time to swim in the warm indoor pool. The view from the restaurant was also quite spectacular (the hotel is perched on the side of one of the slopes forming part of the wide U- shaped valley that makes up Paro - which, in and of itself, is a near uninterrupted sea of green vegetation). The food was also excellent - fantastic breakfast. After a near 20 hour journey to Bhutan, I thought it was worthwhile spoiling ourselves in a five star hotel for the first night of our vacation and what a wonderful stay it was!
