Located thirty minutes from Paro International Airport, Naksel Boutique Hotel & SPA is a luxury retreat where the comforts of man and the presence of nature combine for a peaceful escape in the hills of Bhutan. Nestled on the edge of the national forest and the quiet Ngoba Village, Naksel derives its name from the Dzongka translation of 'Forest,' which is only fitting for this Himalayan sanctuary. The main lodge and surrounding cottages of Naksel rest on six acres of apple orchard, nearly 2700 meters above sea level. Each room, cottage and suite boasts unparalleled views of Mount Jumolhari, Taktsang Monastery, Sangachoekhor Monastery, and the Paro valley below. Elaborate hand-carved pillars and beautiful stonework exemplify the essence of Bhutan while tapered mud-brick walls provide insulation and restful silence. Leading Bhutan in energy efficiency, Naksel features LED lighting, highly efficient water heaters, and Swedish under floor heating systems preheated by solar panels. Main construction materials for Naksel are indigenous and locally purchased. Traditional windows, mud-bricks, framework and even furniture were locally crafted here in Ngoba Village, connecting Naksel to the surrounding forest. We offer the following room-categories: 1. Superior-room with two-single-size-beds (7 rooms) 2. Deluxe-rooms with 2 standard-size-beds with balcony (24 rooms) 3. Junior-Suites with 2 queen-size-beds. (5 rooms) 4. Executive-roof-top-suites with one king-size-bed (2 rooms)

A great stay in Bhutan. Beautiful room clusters and cottages in the middle of silent meandering paths, embellished with a waterfall, aesthetically and comfortably furnished reception area and if one doesn't wish to walk up the room - a golf cart. Nice clean bathroom had the toiletries which were up to the mark but the size of bed was little cramped and the linen could have been better. Food was OK but the restaurant staff appeared to be poorly managed or confused or they had too many guests those nights. However the view made you forget everything.

Very nice place for vacation. Silent, nice nature and good staff. Rooms is large with all amenities. Toothbrush, toothpaste and shaving kit only on demands. Food is good. Mr. Prakash restaurant supervisor SPL care for us for Jain food. Food is very testy and yummy. So many Apple, cherry, apricot trees in property. Spa is also good but bit expansive then service. It's worst of money. Paro airport about 15km from property. Campfire only on request it's bad future. Shop in side resort it's very expensive then local market. Always purchase in local market.

We stayed in Naksel for two nights and ordered dinner from the a la carte menu the first night. The waiter (one of two serving over 60 people) said it'd be 40 minutes. 50 minutes later I ask the manager and she says it'll be an hour. Several other diners then start to complain and the entire restaurant grinds to a halt. Then we find a hair in our food. No one is available to talk to and the waiters are running around like lunatics. The buffet is stocked however so the throngs of Indian diners seems satiated.

Response from Naksel8907, Manager at Naksel Boutique Hotel & SPA

Dear Peter, Thank you for staying with us. We are so sorry that you had to experience this at Naksel. Our manager is currently under consideration due to this and we fully take responsibility for this major slip up. Indian and Chinese tourists are as you might have noticed, at a rapid rise in all parts of the world and this is a major adjustment for all service industries especially in Bhutan. Please accept our sincere apology and we hope you will be gracious enough to give us another chance. Thank you again for staying with us and for your feedback.

I loved everything about this hotel. It is located off the beaten path and is a vision of peace and tranquility. Our room was gorgeous and had a large living room area and private deck with a view of the mountains. We ate breakfast and dinner here every day and the buffet choices were plentiful and delicious, and with something for everyone. This hotel offered hospitality at its finest and the staff were incredibly polite and helpful. They even have a large supply of loaner walking sticks that you can sign out for hiking Tiger’s Nest. After my hike I enjoyed an excellent aromatherapy massage at the spa. All- in-all a 5-star experience from start to finish.

The room we stayed in was nice, but the whole operation is set up to receive large tour groups, feed them, house them for a night, and then make sure they get on their way early next morning. Contrary to what the website suggests, there are no walking trails from the hotel and the promised archery wasn't possible either as the bow was broken. This hotel is meant to be a place to sleep, not a place to experience. So, if all you're after is a night's kip, then Naksel is fine. But then you can probably find places that will charge you much less for a room with a bed. And, just to be fair, the views are of course good.
