This is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore the Rincon de la Vieja, hike in the national park, check out mineral baths or just experience Costa Rica and all its natural beauty! Hacienda is about 49 minutes from Liberia airport-and a pretty straight shot. The roads are al paved leading to the hotel-so having a sedan... More

Nice Hacienda, they do the milking once a day, they have a butterfly sanctuary and a serpentarium, nice pool (cold but nice), service is good too, people always smiling, The restaurant has a very good breakfast but the dinner food is very bad, my guess...there is no cheff on duty, we had two very bad dinners, the problem is...you are... My girlfriend and I stayed there for two nights. We went straight to the Natural Reserve which was really amazing, and the next day experienced the whole activities package, which was very enjoyable. However, service had nothing special and I have got to say I was very disappointed in the restaurant, which had low-quality food and inconsistent service. The room... More

First night of the Thomson Grand Tour of Costa Rica. Lodge quite basic but clean and comfy with en-suite. Ate in restaurant at night which was fine. Breakfast had fair choice. Pool area looked nice and set in forest for first taste of wildlife. Did hour long horse ride on first morning from stable next door - good fun for... More

It served its purpose for an overnight stay. TV did not work. No social atmosphere. It was essentially on a farm. Look out for "visitors" (bugs, lizards) in your rooms. Breakfast was again just okay. No microwave or fridge in room. Uncomfortable beds. Hammocks out in front of rooms for free use. If I could go back, I would probably... More

First night of our grand tour, nice location in a forest, terrace outside your room where you can sit out and take in the sounds of the forest. Room basic but adequate for the night with lukewarm shower, there's a ceiling fan, no air con, safety deposit box in the wardrobe, food via buffet $15 Next day after included breakfast... More

We stayed here for only one night as part of a weeks tour, it was quite basic but sufficient. Not sure i would have wanted to stay much longer although there are things to do, such as, horse riding and river tubing. We did these as part of our tour.

Horse riding, cowgirl adventure, milking cows, hot springs, miracle mud, great food and even better people and location. Rooms are basic, swimming pool cold, as is shower but all part of the experience that I wouldn't have missed. All on the doorstep of a volcano.

The hotel is surrounded by lush tropical gardens. I was explained it used to be a cattle ranch home before it became a hotel and the rooms and grounds have kept that feeling. Breakfast was very good and filling ! offering fresh tropical fruits and local dishes (rice and beans, plantain). As part of staying at the hotel we had... More

The grounds are lovely, high up in the mountains near the volcano and the Rincon de la veja National Park. Only ate lunch there so not commenting on the hotel itself. If you aren't staying onsite, the restaurant is a good stop for the view. It's geared toward the tour buses and they probably do a good job at that... More
