Before leaving this review I reached out to Choice Hotels personally and received no response in return. This is the letter I sent them. If you want the abridged version, just go right to the pictures. Hello, I just wanted to share my recent experience with Choice Hotels. On 10/25/2020 we checked in to room #120 at the Quality Inn in Shingle Springs, CA. We were "warned" by staff that someone had just moved out of this room after a 2 week stay. This was evident by a heavy dog smell upon entering the room. It was obvious this room had been prepared in a hurry without attention to detail (see photos) including sticky kitchen floors and a general feeling of griminess. Around 11pm we were preparing to get into bed so I did a quick scan with my trusty travel black light, which revealed some heavily stained sheets (see pics). I notified the front desk, they brought a fresh set and told me to go ahead and make the bed myself. I was mistakenly brought queen sheets for a king bed that were just as stained as the first, but these came equipped with cigarette burns too. I called the front desk again and another set of sheets was brought over. This time I had her wait in the room while I once again made my own bed, and once more the sheets were too small. She came back to the room a final time letting me know they were out of king sheets and blankets and instead brought with her 2 flat queen sheets, 2 twin-bed size mattress pads (?) for a blanket and a thin comforter that resembled and possibly was, a curtain. I quickly got to work making my own bed for a third time. After getting settled in to watch TV we discovered the TV remote had no batteries. At this point the lady at the front desk was longer willing to visit our room and told me I would have to come to get the batteries myself. So off I went into the night, in my PJ's, to get batteries. At 10:30 am on 10/26/2020 we checked out at the front desk. I shared my experience and photos with the lady and maintenance man working at that time. The lady had me email the pictures to her at the front desk for her to show the general manager. She called me back at 3:56 pm that day to tell me that the GM could offer me 50% of the room and stated that because I actually stayed in the room and didn't leave the night before that that was the best they could do. I obviously would like to have left the night before but packing up at 11pm in search for a new room wasn't a reasonable option. Side notes: The pictures are including two different sets of sheets and maybe I didn't do it right but I signed up for Choice Privileges when I booked this room and wasn't offered my snack at check-in. I'm not even mad I'm just really surprised by the lackadaisical attitude of the staff regarding issues of cleanliness, customer service and quality at at a hotel called Quality, especially in the midst of this COVID season. One more thing... I wasn't refunded for the first charge, but charged a half room rate on top. As I write this I've currently paid for this room 1.5 times. Thanks for reading,

Pro - within walking distance to fast food. They have one parking space available for EVs. Staff is polite. The internet seems to work well. Cons - not everyone is practicing social distancing and wearing masks. The walls seem to be very thin. I can hear the cars and trucks throughout the night. Due to COVID no breakfast is available for part of our reservations.

After a long day of driving we just needed a place to crash for the night. The rooms are ok, nothing special. I didn't feel comfortable going barefoot on the carpet because it looks dirty. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and the sheets were soft, but had a large hole. Every time we washed our hands (room 229) the tap handle came right off... it's one screw guys, just fix it. Bottom line, we got a decent nights sleep - but I feel that $145/night is a bit high for this property.

Checking in was practically impossible since the little girl at the front desk had very little experience. The girl couldn't have been but 15 or 16 years old and was stunningly arrogant, rude and even foul at times. Absolutely obnoxious. The room had sticky spots on the carpet that would cling to my socks, and it smelled horrible! The Motel 6 is much better! Don't stay here without a tetanus shot!

Booked a suite but was changed to another room without being asked. AC did not work. Had to use a roll of toilet paper to prop bathroom window open. No high denifition on Televisions. Gym closed. Manager does not believe in customer service. Overall a hotel with potential but has been allowed to become tired.
