We stumbled on a two night, mid-week special at the Lodge that included daily breakfasts, one dinner (with wine), a King Suite room and coupons for wine tasting and other local merchants. What a treat! The room was very spacious, quiet, with comfy bed and all amenities; food in dining room was excellent; breakfast buffet was plentiful; staff was gracious, professional and helpful. The location is within walking distance to town and close to many sights by car. Keep your eyes open for this property!!

My girlfriend and I have been coming to the Cambria Lights and Christmas Market together for the last few years. This was our best experience at the lights and we felt very safely distanced through the entire stay.

Booking: Originally I booked the Spa suite but decided to change to the fireplace room to save some money. However, two days before I received a new confirmation indicating we still had the spa suite but at the price for the king fireplace room.

Arrival: I received a text the morning of our stay where I was able to provide the payment info and a picture of my parking spots. We texted the number on the sign and gave our reservation name and parking spot. It appeared that many people opted for walking up to the desk which may be because of a lack of spots and slow responses on the text. Overall, the check in experience sacraficed only small extra wait for a safe experience during the pandemic.

Stay: It was a wonderful surprise to have the upgrade-the overall room experience was great. We had a living room, bedroom and large bathroom with jacuzzi spa, large shower, and a toilet room with a interesting bidet opposite it which we didn't get a chance to try. There is a TV and fireplace in both the bedroom and living room. We brought our fire tv stick but weren't able to change tv input -which may have been more annoying if staying multiple nights. The two fireplaces are contolled by independent thermostats. Unfortunately the bedroom fireplace didn't work so we spent more time in the living room lounging on the couch.

Dinner: We ordered the garlic and goat cheese. It arrived very quickly and the employee delivered it with a mask on and it was in a closed plastic container. Quick and easy!

Christmas Lights: best experience we've had! It is normally so crowded you can't move- this one way path was beautifully redesigned. Would love to see the lights like this every year. Thank you Cambria Pines for helping us experience some Christmas Magic in 2020.
9 out of 10, would recommend.

Nice place with spacious rooms but it could use some updating and a sprucing up. Our water pressure was so poor we removed the showerhead altogether to shower. The existing pressure wasn't enough to remove the shampoo or soap. Our room was nice with a separate bedroom and living room area and the two fireplaces were lovely. Our floor needed a good washing. It appeared clean but after my 3 year old walked around barefoot in the morning it was very clear the floor was filthy. The location was great and the gardens were nice and well kept. Our family enjoyed walking around the gardens. Our stay included breakfast which was nice with a selection of eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, baked goods and fruit. We went to the restaurant for dinner one night and it was adequate. The staff was wonderful but the food was just okay. The resteraunt was too high priced for the food quality. We may return again but would definitely dine off site for lunch and dinner.

We booked the Jr Suite to celebrate our anniversary. When we arrived in the room, right away we noticed a difference in quality compared to other rooms we had stayed in previously(and compared to website photos). Online shows the bedroom with wood floors- ours had dirty carpet. Online shows a bathtub and we had a shower only. The couch had stains, large snags and pet hair from previous people ! The other chair also stained had the material all bunched up, making it uncomfortable to sit on. Table had paint stains, towels had someone else’s hair on them, dead bug on the door etc. this room clearly wasn’t cleaned well before our arrival, which was funny considering how we requested an early check in but were told to wait til 3 pm to ensure our room was clean & ready for us. When we called the front desk to explain the situation the gentleman downplayed the situation as if we were just being “picky”. We asked if we could switch to the suite room & we will gladly pay the price difference according to what was listed on the website. He said we could but we would have to pay a higher price than what it listed as. It sounded like he was trying to take advantage of us. You’d think he would want to help us out since the room we were given was below standard in appearance and cleanliness. My husband asked if that’s the case then can we just check out and we will find somewhere else to stay. He said of course we are welcome to leave but there won’t be any refund. We asked if there was anyone else we could speak with who could help us out in this situation, the employee said NO, that he was the one in charge. I have never ever encountered such an unreasonable and prideful employee. Hopefully he was just having a bad day and isn’t always like this. We’ve always recommended this hotel to others but after getting a run down, dirty room AND terrible service, we won’t be back.

We stayed in the cheapest category of rooms, in the Moonshadow building (as I called it: “the low rent district”). So I can only comment about my stay there. Although it was very clean, it does need updating, like new furniture, remove the carpet, etc. Even the phone was an old push button type. Walls are a little thin, as I could hear our neighbors muffled chit chat. I could also hear the plumbing of the room below us when they were taking a shower and their fan. So we were conscious of not talking too loud and having the TV on a lower volume. Remodeling might not solve some of these issues. Tearing down the building and starting over would! Now, here are the positives: free breakfast (eggs, potatoes, sausage, oatmeal, cheese blintzes (weekend item), buffet line but they served it on your plate. The grounds and gardens of the property are quite nice, good for a short morning walk after breakfast. Plenty of parking near our building. All staff seemed to be very nice. The rate for our room was reasonable - remember, we were in the low rent district! I’m assuming rooms on the other side of the property might be better. Maybe I would stay here again and maybe spring for a better room?? Regardless, we did have a wonderful extended weekend in Cambria!

Stayed in a Lower king Suite Fri- Mon & enjoyed the grounds w/ gardens, trees, animals, & birds. Free hot breakfast is just okay. Location Close to downtown & Beach, w/pleasant surroundings. Do NOT get lower floor, NOISE from upstairs will annoy you. Small micro & fridge, NO utensils provided, just drinking glasses & paper coffee cups. 2 fireplaces & 2 tvs are convenient, but windows & screens were dirty. There is music in the lounge every evening, service there is sketchy. The food at dinner was average, overall value below average.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cambria Pines Lodge. We booked a deluxe suit. The private cottage (with no common walls) was very clean and roomy with a comfortable king bed. The bathroom was updated with a modern stone tiled floor and a large shower with floor to ceiling tiles. The suite was equipped with two TV's; a coffee maker; and a small refrigerator. Our balcony was nestled in the pine trees and very private. The complimentary buffet breakfast included two type of scrambled eggs, sausage, and potatoes, plus an additional rotating entree (for us it was biscuits and gravy on Saturday and cheese blintzes on Sunday). The pool area was very clean and inviting. The Fireside Lounge offers a full bar and good appetizers. (two drinks and one appetizer $36) Our server was very personable. We also enjoyed excellent pizza from the pizza shop. The grounds are well-maintained including the colorful gardens. The lodge is a short drive from Moonstone Beach; Hearst Castle; and elephant seal viewing areas.

Our room was in a quiet corner of the property with an open balcony. Most of the other balconies, for the cottage type rooms, are fenced in and do not offer a view. The deluxe suites are very expensive: ($350 for Thurs. night and $437 per night for Friday and Saturday including taxes). A vacation rental would likely be a much better value.

This hotel is beautifully located on top of a mountain with stairs leading down into town. There is wildlife and the grounds are nice and mostly peaceful. That being said, this is definitely not a place for a romantic couple's getaway! It is more suitable for a quick overnight stay if you're driving through, or if you are staying with kids, or travelling with your dog(s). The beds are very, very uncomfortable and depending upon which hotel block you are placed in, there is definitely a musty smell throughout. For such a beautiful location and town, this hotel could REALLY use a facelift complete with new beds throughout and a good outdoor cleaning!
The breakfast service is done buffet style without any compliance to covid guidelines and the front desk staff does not wear masks for those concerned with covid. After seeing how the food was being presented, we did not eat any of it so cannot comment as to the actual quality of it. There is nightly music in the bar which was nice and the bar staff is very friendly. The front desk staff is definitely not as helpful or friendly, but the manager Angel is the exception to that! Our overall stay was disappointing and it is unlikely that we would stay here again unless we happen to be travelling with our dogs and are not looking for a good night's sleep.

We decided to stay at Cambria Pines Lodge for the first time, vs staying by Moonstone Beach as we have done many times in the past. We booked the dinner package which was about $50 more than a standard room rate BUT the price included dinner for two (ANY entree on the menu) and a bottle of wine. We made reservations which are recommended, and the dinner, service and quality of food did not disappoint. Breakfast was included but due to Covid, it was understandably very simple and socially distanced which of course might turn people off a little. However, you are not staying at the Lodge for their breakfast which was the only thing that was mediocre comparatively speaking. very Our room was cozy, spacious, woodsy and if it wasn't so cold (we went in early November) at the time, we would have enjoyed the spacious patio.
We took a walk to a nearby nursery (Cambria Pines Nursery) that had some gift shops as well. There is a nice paved path from the Lodge to the nursery that gave us a very scenic experience. The Lodge will not have the usual Christmas Market but they do have their grounds decorated with literally one million lights and numerous Christmas decorations, wherein they will have on for strolling for guest that will stay or dine at their Lodge during specific dates in late November to early January. We would definitely return.

The desk clerk Angel, was definitely a superior employee. He facilitated a change in dates do to weather, roses and a special desert surprise from our children in our room, a special dinner celebration, When we met him in town he happily gave us directions and suggestions to make our stay better. The room exceeded all our expectations, was spotless and quiet, we felt like we were all alone in the woods. The gardens and light show were amazing. We enjoyed the maintained white glove clean hot tub as well. Our dinner was perfectly cooked and the service was as good as it gets. A great meal We recommend The Cambria Pines Lodge to anyone going that way.
