We stayed at the CBL on our way headed north up the coast. I was excited that the lodge had been recently rebranded and renovated. The rooms were whitewashed with trendy, minimalist beach decor. The beds were very comfortable and the room was quite spacious. The adirondack chairs out in front of each room were a nice touch. Great location... More

It's a motel not a lodge. What was advertised as a "deluxe" room is small & their advertised "sitting area" was a chair & narrow table against a windowless wall. There's no phone, fridge, m/w, safe. Parking cramped. No beach view as pictured. Over priced

I was concerned after booking then reading some negative reviews. The name has changed (no longer mariners inn) so we drove past initially - at reception they said they had not yet got around to updating the name on the website. However the room was spotless, beds v comfortable, excellent value for location steps from beautiful beach at moonstone landing.... More

The hotel was perfectly fine for a night's lodging before Big Sur. We arrived in the evening and checked in. Seemed like there were renovations going on, a lot of work outside, without interruption. Breakfast via booking.com that was included was absent. Just tea...Ended up buying something in town before the trip. Anyway, here is right by the sea and... More

Undergoing renovation (as previous reviews have complained about), this hotel is still a bargain in a very pricy market (Cambria ). We did not find the construction noise to be objectionable at all, in fact we did not hear it at all! The room we stayed in appeared to have been recently renovated, with gas fireplace, new bathroom fixtures, mattress,... More

I have given an extra star for Carol and June who bent over backwards to make up for the dreadful shortfalls. The refurbished room was stark and cold, no chest of draws for non-hangable items, replaced by a hallway type long very narrow table. I booked this when the old website was in place, but found out that there was... More

For the last ten years we have spent a week-end in Cambria. The Mariner's Inn, although modest, has always been our preferred base. Reasonable rates, magnificent location, and friendly staff, have never disappointed us! Recently we booked a room and we were quoted a much higher rate. We were also informed that due to remodeling, breakfast would not be available.... More

We stayed at this modest hotel in the past. Nothing fancy but clean and reasonably priced. Their location is perfect. The beach is across the street, the rates were reasonable, the rooms clean and an acceptable breakfast was included. Last week-end we stopped by again. Major blunder on our part!. The motel is being renovated and the management elects to... More

I had stayed at this hotel in the past and enjoyed myself so it was sad to see that it has gone down hill. It started bad when I received a phone call from the hotel while I was on my way there and was told I had to arrive by 9:30 pm or they would be closed. When I... More

We (4 adults ages 18-31) were on a road trip this June and planned to overnight in Cambria. We had already come from days at the National Parks and the morning of our trip we were travelling from San Francisco by way of Santa Cruz/Monterrey/Big Sur so our day was packed. When booking this room, I had read all of... More
