Nothing brings down a motel stay faster than carpet stains in highly visible locations. And Room 215 has 'em. It's just nasty to see. CMLS is constructing another 30 rooms in back, so I hope they squeeze in a refresh of at least this room. ( It also could use new paint on the baseboards, the refastening of the really loose towel hook and the toilet flush mechanism needs attention.)

Otherwise we enjoyed our stay. The general look and feel of the room was 1950s motor lodge, with a 21st century update. Staff was helpful and friendly, the restaurant/bar Fleetwood had good pizza and cocktails, the pool was welcoming and the location was good for getting to just about anywhere in the general area.

We stayed here a few years ago when it was the Sunburst Calistoga and wanted to see the improvements under different ownership so we booked a room for the weekend.

The renovations and additions to the property are impressive. Our camper king suite was very cute and charming. The only issue was that I’m allergic to down feathers and pet dander. I requested a feather free and pet dander free room but I still woke up in the middle of the night with breathing issues. I think there were still some allergy triggers in our room.

The minerals springs pools were relaxing but could use some tidying and cleaning as there was some dirt at the bottom of the large jacuzzi area. We loved the cabanas and the evening fire pit for s’mores. We also enjoyed using the bicycles for 2 complimentary hours.

The Fleetwood restaurant on property was wonderful with a great outdoor ambiance. They are only open for dinner but are working on expanding their hours which I’m sure will bring them more business.

The front desk staff who checked us in were not very friendly and seemed very indifferent to incoming guests. However on the day we checked out, the front desk staff were very pleasant and friendly. They definitely need to train their colleagues who checked us in.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and may consider returning if the rooms can be completely feather and pet dander free.

Good:
Comfy bed. I slept good both nights.
Not too noisy (could be it’s a Mon-Wed trip)
Bathroom shower was nice and roomy
Location is good. Calistoga is pretty small so I say any location within Calistoga would be good.
Adult only pool hours (otherwise the pools would be filled with kids all the time.)

Room for improvement:
Carpet in our room didn’t seem to have been vacuumed before we checked in.
Repair broken tiles in the spa.
Fix loose creaking floor in our bathroom.

Overall:
I haven’t stay at another location to be able to compare but this place seemed pretty family friendly. Everyone that stayed there were pretty nice and respectful. Mineral pool water felt nice and relaxing. I had a good experience and would recommend this place for a weekday stay.

This hotel is a joke. At $500 a night for the best room they don’t even provide house cleaning services. This is not on the website and only told to you after check in. When I asked the front desk they only had complete useless response. Extremely disappointing and not professional.

I booked a weekend stay here for my husband and I to celebrate our anniversary in one of the camper rooms as they looked so cute! Unfortunately what is pictured online is quite deceiving to the actual experience awaiting you. The minute you walk in you call tell there was a half-attempt to renovate an old, outdated motel rooms. The carpets are old and most certainly from the 80s, the outlets weren't working on one of the nightstands, and there's no real place to put your clothes. The bathroom was not much better: all of the towel and toilet paper hangers were loose, the mirror and metal shelf above the sink were rusty, and the grout in the shower was very moldy! There were even some stains on the wall and the wallpaper was peeling from the humidity. Really unhappy with the prices we paid for this experience, I do NOT recommend the camper rooms at all.

One of the reasons why we booked this place was to to soak in the hot tub, but that was out of order (there was no mention of this on the website). I see a previous review stating it was out of order two months ago, so it seems like they're in no rush to get it fixed. The pools were lukewarm which was fine, but the area felt very outdated and old much like the camper rooms.

One silver lining is that the bed was pretty clean and comfortable, and we requested a quiet area so we were able to get a good amount of rest each night. The location of this lodge is also really close to downtown, you can even walk there in about 10 mins or take one of the lodge's bikes to get some exercise in. We recommend getting breakfast at the diner Sarafornia and a nice dinner at Lovina.

Staff was relatively accommodating, though not the most welcoming. We'll look to stay elsewhere the next time we're in Calistoga.

The hotel is really very simple, should cost $120-$150 per night. We paid $1300 for a weekend, with all the taxes included...
ridiculous.

No extra water in the room, no room service on the second day. Restaurant and spa is closed due to COVID (when everyone is already vaccinated in Cali) and so on...

Enjoyed opportunity for a short Spring break trip with children. Walked to dinner and spend time at pool. Pool was crowded. Make sure to get to pool earlier than allotted swim time to save a place or you will be setting your towel up on the lawn. Get a towel when they are delivered to the hot tub area as they go quickly. I was glad we also brought our own. dining option was not available yet.

Kim and Cristal worked hard to make sure that our overnight getaway was memorable and worth the self care expense. Thanks for the excellent service, friendliness and the wine and outdoor blanket ladies! The room was small, but very cute, extremely clean and had nice touches like pour over coffee and nice products and fluffy towels. It was facing the road but quiet. We took out their beach cruiser bikes to ride into town. Nice! Soaking in the pools at night was key if you like a kid free environment. And the Fleetwood restaurant and bar on site was great, quality food and service! Try the cioppino and fired up pizza! It does get social at night over the fire pits but we actually liked that. Wish we could’ve stayed one more night, but weekend prices can be pricey. We will def be back!

I loved staying at your motel for our long weekend. It's nice to stay in a place that has some personality, some uniqueness! Thoroughly enjoyed the amusing armadillo, art piece on our hotel room wall. Hilarious. Much better than a taxidermy deer head on the wall, which I never enjoy finding at a place. Your treatment was much better :-) I was grateful for the reusable path water bottles provided. Big points for sustainability. Loved the pour over coffee set up. Bed was comfy. Bedding was nice and clean. Happy to have robes. Staff was five-star every single time I talked with anyone. Appreciated your mix of automated SMS and personal SMS. Very convenient to be able to text the front desk. Very much enjoyed the irreverent photo book, 50's style, maps and signage, and overall design sense and branding. Meant to go for a bike ride, didn't do it, but I'll totally do so on my next visit. The location was great because having 5 - 10 minute walk to town got me moving and was just generally enjoyable.

Cute hotel. But if you expect hotel basics such as , peace and quiet, house keeping, or someone to make you coffee in the mornings, skip it. And it’s not for shortage of staff…

once you’ve managed to open the in-room single-serving coffee dose and made your own pour-over coffee (a process…) and you want to enjoy it by the fire pit on a brisk morning… you will find an army of maintenance staff making a ruckus with leaf blowers and trash cans, but no one to turn on said fire pit.. let alone make up your room or make you coffee…

There’s also a lot of construction going on on both sides of the property so, except on Sundays, expect to be awaken to the sound of nail guns, construction workers shouting at each other, and the loud beeping of construction trucks in reverse, starting at 7am.

Needless to say the hotel doesn’t inform you of these things when you are making your booking.

If you absolutely must stay there, skip the camper suites or any room that’s in the original bungalow court. They’re old and shabby and needed a lot more than a coat of paint and design furniture to command the price. They’re depressing.
The vista rooms are nice, new and clean and worth the splurge. Opt for one with a balcony. The ones without offer no outdoor space at all.

Office staff was kind and accommodating.

Indian Springs up the street is significantly nicer and worth every penny.

Our three mineral pools are all fed from nature’s own underground hot springs; after a good long soak, you’ll find that life feels way simpler, way easier. Post-soak, chill out by the outdoor pool with cabana beds and loungers.

Yes, they have bikes available. You can only take them out for 2 hours at a time, but you can do that several times over the course of the day. Calistoga is a great little town to bike in and around!
