I travelled to Calistoga with my dog to get a bit of R&R. The hotel staff was super friendly and gave my dog lovely treats and cuddles. The hotel is walking distance to restaurants, wine tasting rooms and unique retail shops. I also got a massage the following day from Jonathan who I highly recommend. I left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. So happy I stayed at Dr Wilkinson’s and I will definitely be back!
We did not stay at the hotel. We came for the mud bath, massage etc..We really enjoyed the experience, However -wWe recommend that you do stay overnight, because when we drove home we seemed to have melted into the shape of our car seat - we were so loose and relaxed from the treatments.
We stayed here last year. We were looking for good value—to pamper ourselves for a weekend without going overboard. What we found was far worse than what you'd expect. By that, I mean that you expect a place to put its best face forward by showing flattering photos, to possibly not be quite as good as the photos (or even likely?), but this was extreme and felt more fraudulent, because the place was dirty, smelled badly and looked and felt run down. What's worse, is that when the masseuse cut my massage 10 minutes short and I told the management what happened, he did and said nothing to help. He looked at me blankly and said he was sure that it didn't happen because spa staff have a clock system they follow etc. The implication is clear, and the non-help and complacency in the…
The pool area very old and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. Area where the mineral spa is, doesn't look very appealing. Room was big, air-conditioned but dark. Just one window. The carpet has a big stain on it and the room looks old and tired. Certainly needs renovating. They need to look at rooms like Calistoga Motor Lodge. Based on other reviews this place is in dire need of a refurbish.
From the hot springs, mud/mineral baths, whirlpool mineral soak, relaxing by the pool, it was all good. And centrally located to all the places I have come to love in Calistoga. From the supermarket, next door, to the restaurants - too numerous to mention here. The CBD massage and soak was absolutely the highlight of the 2 night stay in calistoga. Absolutely worth every nickle and we will do it again and again.
