It looks like updates are being done now and conditions may have improved. It was old, dirty and falling apart when when visited in 2000. The room was small and dingy, the bed was lumpy and the air conditioner was so loud we didn't sleep all night. The spa treatments were hokey. The "Mud baths" that I thought would be so good for my husband, were just sticky, stinky goo reused by other guests and the whirlpool was a plastic mat in the bottom of a bathtub that created bubbles. This "treatment" was very expensive and not at all what the Frommer's travel book depicted. My husband and my uncle both got the mud bath treatment and still talk about how terrible and dirty it was. While this "resort" may have made improvements since our visit long ago, check it out thoroughly before booking. We did not have a good experience and frankly, we feel like we were ripped off. Cannot believe this place is still in business.…
Thank you for our wonderful stay! We enjoyed all the geothermal pools! It was nice to swim outside. The pool temperature was perfect, even though it was windy outside. It was nice to have one of the pools inside. Room are very quiet and comfortable. The beds are very comfy. Very good quality linens, robes, towels. Mini refrigerator, coffee machine, unusually good quality hairdryer. Free WiFi and even Tesla charger outside on the parking lot! My mom forgot her makeup magnified mirror and Nick on reception found one and got it delivered to our room. We asked for early check-in and late check-out and we able to stay longer! Thanks again.
My girlfriend and I spent a night here while on a mini-getaway from home. Dr. Wilkinson's is located on the east side of Calistoga, and it is a short walk to the center of town. The check-in process was easy, and staff was pleasant. Parking was a little tight, so we ended up on the street after returning from dinner. We found the room to be clean and somewhat updated, but it was very sparse. The bed was firmer like you would find in a motel, not softer like you would find in a resort. The indoor mineral pool looked a little dated but was still enjoyable, and it almost made up for what the room lacked. More effort is needed in room furnishings/decor and bed comfort to bring this place up to the standard of nearby properties. I hear that remodeling is in the works, which is good. Anyway, despite the shortcomings, this property offered good value for money. Whether there is value after remodeling remains to be seen.…
My friends and I arranged a visit to celebrate surviving half a century and decided that some self pampering and warm swimming would be nice. That part was great actually. They were wonderful about the promised earlier check in time since there was a little one involved. The not so nice part, first thing I noticed when I walked into the room I was given for us was the musty mildew smell. Ok, it’s an older place with 1970’s decor. Hopefully this is just a leftover from being older stuff. Nope my four year old ended up coughing all night. She was coughing bad enough my friend had to drive to the closest open pharmacy at midnight to get some medicine for her. Her regular meds weren’t working. We discovered there was a major leak from the shower. Hope they actually fix it because we notified two separate desk managers. Second issue, I found things from prior folks including medications scattered on the floor. Four different types of pills. I will let that speak for itself. The topper was that the original quote I was given upon arranging the visit was not honored. After discussing things during check out, the manager presented me with a receipt for a slightly discounted rate (-$45). Upon checking my bank account, I noted I was charged the full rate, not the discount rate. …
This hot springs resort is a mid century modern beauty. A wonderful, relaxing way to spend the day. Soak in a mud bath, a mineral bath, steamroom and then a massage. My friend and I had a great time. The bath attendants, especially Trina, were helpful and attentive, brought us plenty of lemon flavored iced water, helped us in and out of the various baths and were pleasant and friendly. The massage was great, my massage therapist, Jonathan was outstanding and my friend thought her massage therapist, David, was also great. Also available are outdoor pools at varying temperatures. We spent the night in a comfortable room all for a very reasonable price. The facility will be closed for the next two to three months for remodeling. Hopefully they retain the mid century charm. Definitely recommend a trip when they re-open. Time and money well spent.…
